Did Griffiths play that day in 2018? My abiding memory of that game, apart from Craig Tanner scoring was that the "official" away crowd was considerably less than everyone associated with MFC recollected. Must have been the Dundee air. Given the utterly ridiculous kick off time I'd expect our support to be about 800 400. Most fans have no cause for complaint though. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

I have exactly the same question but all will become clear when we receive the audited accounts. If we have incurred this loss how are we almost"debt free? It doesn't make sense. The only thing I can think of is that the loss of £436,000 is before transfer income is taken into account. I've seen accounts presented that way before, although I'm no accountant.

I wouldn't go that far and I doubt very much if a psychiatrist would agree with your diagnosis, but yes resting Gallagher would be akin to shooting ourselves in the foot.
-
If recall rightly, the club's financial year ends on 30 May annually.

Whilst a win would be great, I'd take a draw in this one. Saints' home record is far better than their away one.

We need to bring in one or two players to improve the squad. The time to do that is when you're doing well not when you're struggling. Finance might dictate that we need to ship out one or two players and one of the goalies might be an option. Both have been offered new terms but neither has accepted as far as I'm aware. Not sure where Barry Maguire's career goes from here? He's not looked comfortable in midfield. Will Cole's loan deal be extended. From Robbo's early season comments I suspect that we have the cash to bring in a number 9. Elsewhere I feel we need a right back and maybe another defensive midfielder. All told, I think we'll see some limited movement next month.

The TV highlights show that our first and fourth goals, as GazzyB says, were pretty decent well worked and taken goals. Overall we were more solid than St Johnstone and it its not often you can say that in the past few years.
-
It's encouraging to see us do our bit for the environment and climate change when scoring. Seriously though, good post.

We can't complain at 4-0 - 4 different scorers and a clean sheet. Well short of our best, but the performance was good enough to win. St Johnstone were very poor but you can only beat the team in front of you. We did however give Saints a bit too much freedom at times and they had a chance or two; generosity that a better side would have gleefully taken advantage of. Still think we need an out and out striker though. All in all a good day's work especially since our rivals dropped points.
-
As always a tough game is in prospect. We should be looking to win this but wheterh we do or not is an entirely different matter. Will Saints be awarded yet another penalty against us? No Murray Davidson this time round.
-
Time will tell, as he's been struck down by illness. By all means we should try our damnedest for 3rd spot but I think 5th or 6th is a more realistic target.
-
Robbo must have read some posts on here and concluded that Allan wasn't worth bothering about. As to your second point, yes we habitually leave space on the flanks for opponents to exploit.
-
Both weaknesses are long standing sorry to say. Hopefully they'll be addressed next month.

Thats not how it works though is it. Just because the likes of Gallagher and Hartley may be physically strong at the back it doesn't follow that Polworth or our 2 wingers are strong enough to shrug off hard challenges at the other end of the pitch. We need all 11 players on the pitch to be physically strong enough to compete; strong enough to ride hard tackles and emerge with the ball. Football is a contact sport after all. Robbo himself has said that several players need to improve their upper body strength. Agree 100% that players like Carroll, Tait, Scott and Campbell are not hammer throwers but they are physically strong. There is middle ground here. I'm very happy with the squad - we're sitting in 4th spot after all. That doesn't mean to say though that its perfect and we can't make improvements in 1 or 2 areas.
-
You must be disappointed in the composition of the current squad then? "Hammer throwers" like Hartley, Gallagher, Dunne, Carroll, Tait, Donnelly, Campbell and Scott. There's a world of difference between being lightweight and a hammer thrower, as I've said repeatedly before. No way do I want a team of hammer throwers to represent our club. I don't want a lightweight team either for that matter. What I do want is a team physically capable of withstanding challenges and winning tackles fairly to compete. Not being lightweight does NOT mean being a dirty thug. Its not either or. Allan Campbell is a player that I admire, as do many others, but he is physical. He's no hammer thrower though. He doesn't shirk tackles; is hard to knock off the ball; and gets in opponents' faces. Skill aside, another physical player in my opinion is David Turnbull. Yes, he is very talented, but he is also difficult to simply barge off the ball. He can also put in a reasonable tackle. On Saturday, Hibs will present a physical challenge. We have to compete with them, but that doesn't mean kicking them off the park. It means getting in their faces, being able to hold the ball under pressure and being able to put in a hard tackle when required.
-
I've got mixed feelings about Polworth. He's a footballer and a creative one at that so he's been an asset to the team. He is however lightweight and definitely struggles to make any impression against the better sides. Coming round to the view that he's probably a decent lower half Premiership player.

Footballing slang and can be used as a racist (anti semitic term). Not a word I'd use.

Just received an email from the Well Society. Once again they are offering shares in MFC for £10 per unit with a minimum purchase of £50.
-
Very pleased to see the big fella get his international debut. He's earned it.
-
There's a helluva lot of leaking going on; I wonder who is the source(s).
-
Thats only the latest of quite a few. Without trawling through several years of posts on here I couldn't list them all.
-
Yes. You'd imagine that Devlin and McKenna will be first choices but Declan is due his chance. Although Allan Campbell is thoroughly deserving of his inclusion in the Under 21 squad I'm concenred about burnout. He's looked jaded after previous internationals.
-
From what I can gather it simply fell off nothing more, nothing less. No story in it.
-
Its the latter. The team selection should have told everyone what all they needed to know........damage limitation from the off. No bad injuries or red cards. From the highlights our old failings (midfield sitting too deep and full backs leaving flanks exposed) were once again exploited. Its not a game that'll define our season, so we move on.

Wee Tommy was on about £100k - £120k per annum and that was almost 20 years ago. I don't doubt there's a release clause in his contract but circa £130k compensation seems exceptionally low. I would have expected circa £300K. IF Robbo gets the NI job, and it is an if, then I would hope the club would act quickly to appoint a successor. I would not want him to be allowed to hang around. This is all speculation though.
