Stonewall penalty.

No less than we deserve. Tha goal has been coming for a while.
-
Midfield needs freshened up.
-
We've not managed this game at all since the break.
-
Midfield needs to up their game here.
-
How as that for a dive!
-
Yes, we're playing quite well and deservedly 2 goals up. One or two slack moments at the back though so we shouldn't get carried away. Now the real test starts - can we manage the game?
-
Great finish by Long.
-
Like others I don't foresee many changes, unless we have more injuries or illnesses. I'd like to see a bit more of Harry Smith though , if only for the psychological effect it will have on United.
-
On the face of it you're right but how many midfielders and defenders will be fit to play in the coming weeks?
-
Possibly a factor in his poor form going back a couple of months?
-
Absolutely. This underlines our poor signings in the summer. We've been crying out for experience in the squad and we've now got some. Many of our acquisitions are on temporary deals - short term fixes if you like. As you say, GA will be able to rebuild in the summer and stamp his own signature on the squad.

I don't know Shaka. Yes, of course we needed a prolific scorer, but we also needed a main striker for others to play off and Smith fits that bill. We also needed a keeper and Kelly fits that bill. We needed 2 wingers and Lawless and Roberts (who can play on the right) fit those bills. We needed experience in the centre midfield and Foley fits that bill. Also a centre back and Nolan fits that bill. Now thats not to say they will all be successes because they won't of course. We do have a number of long term injuries and I just wonder when we'll see Donnelly again for example. I do however have 2 concerns. Firstly the squad is bloated, albeit our injury list is long. In the coming days we might well see some players go out on loan and/or some contracts paid up. Secondly I still want to see youth given a chance but that will depend of course on results. Many of the squad are on loan or are on short term contracts until the summer and that will give the new management team time to assess them or identify replacements.

I hope Aberden treated Curtis well, in terms of a pay off. He gave us some amazing memories in a Well shirt, although he was never a prolific scorer.
-
On paper our 2 signings tonight may seem underwhelming but some folks need to calm down and give them a chance. The time to judge will be in a few months time My only concern is Roberts' injury record but presumably our management has checked this. Most of our transfer window signings would seem to have been identified before GA arrived - no? What I would say is that the positions we've recruited for are the ones which most of us would have identified a few weeks ago.
-
I'm more than happy to give Jordan Roberts a chance but what concerns me is his injury record. He was suffering from a persistent groin problem as recently as December.
-
I agree in principle but picking young Scottish lower league players is a gamble. Just look at Faisal El Bakhtaoui for example.
-
Agree Allan. My point was more about the number of available bodies given that the window doesn't close for another 36 hours or so. I assume that O'Hara, Grimshaw and Lawless are all injured and that questionmarks hang over the availability of Hastie, Campbell, Gallagher and O'Donnell. Once the fog of confusion clears on Tuesday morning we'll have a clearer picture of squad availability for this game. We should be looking for 3 points.
-
Foley can play in Central defence too.
-
Will O'Donnell and Hastie still be with us?
-
St Mirren are playing very well just now and deservedly picking up points. That said they've enjoyed a lot of good luck and that won't last.

Even as a Society member I don't expect to be told commercial or confidential details of transfers, but this could have been worded better. If this wasn't possible, it would have been better to just say that an agreement had been reached with MLS / Columbus Crew.
-
Just received a Society email, as no doubt many of you did, which mentions, amongst other things, Chris Cadden's deal. According to the email "The club came to an agreement with MLS / Columbus Crew to settle the case with Chris Cadden that has allowed Motherwell FC to retain attractive on-going economic rights." Now I know what that says but what does it mean?
-
I have no inside knowledge, but going by Jake Carroll's recovery I'm not expecting Donnelly back any time soon. Add to that Crawford may leave as might Allan Campbell and the absences of O'Hara and Grimshaw mean that we could be caught short in midfield. Foley has only signed until the summer so he's low risk. He's experienced and that's what we need in the engine room right now. I genuinely want to see young guys like Dean Cornelius come through but it has to be in the right circumstances.

Robinson certainly had his achievements as you say OTF, and these shouldn't be underestimated. But, depending on how things pan out this season he may also be remembered for leaving us in a bit of a state; hopefully not. I agree 100% about throwing a young lad under a bus. We need to foster youth and give them their chance in the right games and at the right time. GA has made some changes but only modest ones so far and I sincerely hope he gives youth its opportunity. I do feel sorry for our young lads this season with no reserve team.
