I was watching the 16/17 goal package recently and the majority of his goals were absolute stoaters. Also surprised me how many goals we got from corners and crosses into the box.

For direct freekick where someone has a shot? We scored hardly any form them. Moult definitely took a couple. I remember one at Accies that went straight into their goalie. McDonald, Hammell, Ainsworth also had a go with not much success. Johnson scored a beauty too but that may have been pre season

I don't mind 3 at the back. When it's done well with the right personnel attacking correctly and at pace it's a good formation. However, it needs pace for it to work. Not there today as on holiday so can't comment on how it's being applied. Sure someone else will shortly...

MacLean will play regularly if he is good enough, stays fit and takes his chances when given. Same for every youth player. I think he'll make it. Gordon has the makings of a great player too. I found skippy a very frustrating character on the field. Did so much and was so important but also couldn't connect a simple pass for 90% of games at times and then blamed others which was largely not justified. I think if he was disrupting the dressing room, and/or clashed with the manager then it's the right time to go. Robinson is a fiery wee moany character too....there's only room for one! Hopefully wages of Thomas, Clay and maybe a couple of others can go towards a fairly proven striker.

Robinson fairly direct about Thomas in his press conference. Wanted him to go out on loan to get competitive football as he was behind Frear, Tanner and Cadden to play. Thomas made it clear he wanted to leave the club. Robinson basically said he wants players who want to be here.

I see. Thought we would be all over those teams like a rash making sure boys are flagged up to the academy.

One thing I've never truly understood actually is the link between the community coaching thing and the official club youth teams. Is there a pathway through to official or is kept completely separate?

I do share that worry. We do seem to be making chances though so my hope is Bowman keeps up his pre season form and Fisher picks up where he left off last season!

Anyone criticising Moult here is off their head. He's been amazing for us, gives 100% every game, has played through injuries, scored 18 goals each of the last two seasons, scored against the ugly sisters, scored against accies, scored important goals to win us key games, and has been positively engaged and involved with the club and fans off the pitch throughout. We all know we're a stepping stone, that's the club model, so don't get all ex girlfriend when someone actually says 'stepping stone' to the press.

If he was good enough he would have played more in the first team and made more of an impact when he did. It's as simple as that really.
