They paid about 300k for Kenny McLean. So that might be where that figure is coming from
-
Tend to think the same. They'll also manage to get some friendlies and closed door games set up I'd imagine. However, I can't wait to get stuck into them and hopefully come away with the points.

Dembele at 29, Kipre at 20 I think I'd expect that. Hopefully we can sign up Dembele too but seems to competition from down south and given his age money might talk.

Yeah I do agree. Going off track here from the thread, so apologies, but taking the wages element out of it maybe, it does feel like there is an opportunity there somewhere somehow to market for new joiners (and current/lapsed) to make the pesonal and summed input a bit more tangible. It's building on exactly as you say, Jay, that all the money goes in gets invested into the club as we are owners and the more we have the better. Some people wont know that and others do. Then breaking that down further even those that do, might not really know what £140k a year means to the club - is it a pittance? is it the equivalent of a couple of first team squad players? or a full U20 squad?" "Increase the membership by 50 people at £10 a month and that would be the equivalent of having new freshly flowing craft beer taps in all the hospitality suites" - I jest. I'm no marketing expert (hard to believe I know...haha) so don't have any examples on the tip of my tongue as to how I would word something like that but just some thoughts...and I should really go back to work or I'll need to explain my lack of budget after being sacked.

The manager said he was hoping Bigi, Moult, Carson and Fisher would all feature tonight. They weren't quite ready for the last game due to slight knocks or just not being quite there yet for 45.

From a national game perspective. I can see the possible benefits with Europe etc and training in generally better weather. But, personally if we went to a summer season I'd reluctantly be giving up my season ticket of 28 years or have to make a big change. Holiday's, golf and other outdoor things during the better month etc would make it not worthwhile for me. Unless we make a move to more midweek or Friday evening games that leave more weekends free. A good example being the league cup group schedule. I'll miss all of them as I'm away. However, I might be in the minority and there are more out there who could go in the summer and can't in the winter.

Haha. Not sure what happened there! As for the direct funding of wages. Not the right way to go imo. Especially as we are fan owned and a lot of us contribute to that monthly/regularly, and it already goes into the club and taken into account with budgets. It does raise a decent idea for targeting new members however to bring the idea to life - i.e. X amount paying X could mean = y for the club. Not that I want to end up in a situation like the brexit battle bus scenario and the NHS!

Can't tell much from pre-season friendlies - especially the first one as not everyone will be at the same level of fitness and some will take longer than others to regain their touch after a break etc. However, good to get a win and 45 mins under the belt. It will be at the very least a couple of competitive games until we really know what players are like - good or bad.
-
Proof will be in the pudding when we see the players on the pitch, how we set up and what we are asking the players to do. Plenty of players have came from a perceived lower level and done well...plenty have not done so well. It's the market we are in unfortunately. Looking forward to the season starting and not even long finished!

Just saw that too. Positive - 4 out of the first 5 league game at home now. Opportunity for a good start to the season which can be all important. Negative - 4 away in a row in December (Celtic, Hearts, Partick, Killie)

Fuck that. They can stay away from the main stand thanks very much. -
A few candidates for me today. Cadden and Frear did well pushing forward for good portions of the game creating. Bowman, McHugh and Henerghan also get more than pass marks. However, opted for Moult - scored the goal, ran himself into the ground and got stuck right in to each and every tackle.

You've literally just called out McDonald from today's game.... -

Are you just going to ignore the two amazing saves from Foderingham? McDonald made a few bad decisions but none were anywhere near sitters or outstanding chances. -

A couple of great saves got them the point. -

Good point. Could have won that if it wasn't for 2 outstanding saves from Foderingham. -

Good to hear the positivity - my thought too. Rangers are the favourites and the table proves that. However, organised defence and take our chances then you never know. No matter the result though it won't be time for full on panic for me. With games against Accies, Inverness (and Partick) we have it in our hands to move away from the bottoms two. If we conspire to lose them then it really is squeaky bum time. -
Tansey signed a pre-contract with Aberdeen today. I've always liked him and was dissapointed to miss out on him back in 2014 (I think it was) when we were rumoured to be close before he chose to go back to Inverness

I can't see Accies or Inverness winning their matches to be honest I'd put money on it being same as it is now at 5pm Saturday. -
On Ainsworth - he has maybe been hard done by a little bit and I have always been a fan. But at the end of the day, Cadden has been keeping him out the team for the majority of the time and quite rightly. Ainsworth has been tried elsewhere on the pitch and can't do a job. So, as one of the higher earners, can only play one position but still not defend well enough in it, about to turn 30 I think it's best he moves on an we invest elsewhere. If Cadden goes, or we intend to play him centrally, then perhaps there could be an argument. Most SPFL teams know what he is about now and can defend against him fairly well. So...I fully expect him to go to one of them and rip us to shreds with our slow full backs!

I'm pretty confident we won't get what we want and he'll be here next season.

McDonald was roundly criticised on here when he was available before. Much like Samson was.
