  1. If as a club we have made the decision to go with worst case scenario budgeting then we should stick with that. No point in announcing that is the plan to then go back on it. Personally I wouldn't be going worst case in the first place. But if that's the plan then that's the plan and extra funds should go to paying off debts quicker so we can get to a point where we can start to build a pot and be a bit more creative with the budget.
  2. Mentioned this very situation way back in the similar thread before. If our playing budget for worst case is the budget no matter what then that's that. If it is say 2 million (for example) at the start of the season then that's that. Non budgeted transfer income and any extra income either goes back in to the club/paying off debts etc. Or, it gets put into the team....but then in the latter case our playing budget wouldn't be worst case scenario as we are spending more due to new unexpected income.
  3. Yep agreed It's based upon a budget for 10th place and no cup runs. This is what we get when we budget for pretty much worst case....a lower quality and/or quantity squad.
  4. Not for me. Each to their own though.
  5. Off topic a bit. But surprised to see Ziggy Gordon end up at Partick. Thought he would have got a gig down south no problem.
  6. That was a more general question I suppose rather than directed at yourself about this - when is something copying and when is it inspiration? I guess it comes down to credit of the original.
  7. Probably one of my least favourite ones as well! Ah well - bad choice. There was a Baraclough one based on the famous Obama poster. Inspiration/imitation/plagiarism......I dunno where the line is. Is it not a problem when the poster is really famous (like the Obama one)? Where on Twitter?
  8. Another example of the money being thrown around, or expected to be spent, by Championship clubs.....Blackburn want £6m for Grant Hanley and have knocked back a £4.5m bid from Newcastle already. GRANT HANLEY!
  9. I keep going back to it...but with 2 years left on his deal he won't be going anywhere on the cheap. We are in a really strong position (for once)
  10. I totally agree and said similar a while back. The league cup does nothing for me - even given the fact we haven't won a cup for 25 years. Very 'meh' for me too. That said, I think we will take it seriously even with McGhee's comments. We will be going out to win with a full strength team minus injuries. Whereas Rangers are unlikely to even play Barton for example.
  11. Let's hope it isn't something similar to Hammell was out with and needs an op.
  12. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36771470 Some more on Moult in there. McGhee said he hadn't been taking part in all training sessions. Seems to be a groin issue....hopefully clears up on its own.
  13. The contract situation is one of the most important parts of the deal. For once we are in a great and strong postion.
  14. 2 years left on his deal. So you would think we wouldnt be letting him go on the cheap this time around. I would be cock a hoop with 1.6m. That's right - cock a hoop.
  15. Lasley isn't dirty on Jim Goodwin levels but he absolutely knows what he is doing. All teams need a player like that and he has been that guy for years.
  16. Match sharpness and bedding the team in is my main worry over fitness.
  17. Takes a while to bed in a new central defense...let alone a new right back too. We unfortunately don't have a huge amount of time with the early start....
  18. Anyone fancy Periscoping the match today? Go on.
  19. Yeah, I think so. Moult does not look fit, and McGhee has mentioned Moult hasn't taken part in every session so far. So I think the 11 today is the likely 11 for next week.
  20. McGhee said in one of the press conferences recently that he sees Cadden as more of a wide player than central. From the 20's I do think Cadden can play the central role. Maybe needs a bit more experience at first team level before becoming a first choice in there though. That's been my thoughts also. Certainly yesterday that was the role he was playing. With the skill he has with the ball at his feet he could do really well in there if he can just make that killer pass, get a decent shot away.
  21. Ripley - Good goalie. All round fairly competent. Bit suspect at crosses but strong and good shot stopper. Seems a bit of a character in the dressing room. Law - Will give you 100%. One of those players, at Scottish Premiership level, not really good enough to be a right back or a right midfielder. Gets caught ball watching a fair bit. Erwin - Big strong forward. Likes ball at his feet and good at using it when it's there. Only played a handful of decent games for us near end of his final (and first!) season for the first team so hard to tell really. But for those few games he scored a few and was involved in a lot of good play.
  22. As far as right back goes most definitely. He played there all last season while Watt played centre back.
