It was the last game of the season and following on from us rescuing the draw against Hibs the previous game we needed to match or better Hibs result to take the last European place. Unfortunately Hibs won and despite us snatching a late draw it ended up being a rare season when we didn't qualify for Europe. I was assuming they would bring those sort of numbers which would work out about £80k. I noticed Aberdeen's bumper crowd at the weekend and did think that, with about 4000 more than normal that works out at about 80k extra. You're right though - we shouldn't be giving up on 2nd place. A good run before the split (with 3 games against bottom 6 teams) and we could potentially ensure a top 3 finish, leaving us to fight it out for 2nd. In that case I would be quite happy to see St. Johnstone play Utd. in the cup final.

It did say they could theoretically win the league AND the cup. It's been a few months since you could say that about us. Much as it pains me to say it, Aberdeen beating St. Johnstone would go a long way to ensuring fourth place qualifies for Europe.

I was checking scores now and again on Saturday and was quite happy to see St. Mirren two up. Couldn't believe it when I saw the final score - we could have been doing without that! After ICT we've a wee run of bottom six teams before the split which we need to make the most of. It would be incredible to go a whole season unbeaten against the bottom six.

How did teams qualify for the texaco cup? Was it the teams just below European qualification? That game was a couple of months before I was born so it's slightly before my time but I've heard all about the games, particularly the Spurs game.
