Having watched Sportscene last night, I don't blame Adams for speaking out - that was a terrible challenge (again) from Goodwin that deserved a red card.

I inherited 2 shares in Albion Rovers from my grandfather. He had got them from his father who had bought them for £1 each in 1920 which I assume was a fair bit of money back then. They're now worth 2 and 1/2 pence each so it's safe to say it wasn't a great investment. But I don't think anyone buys shares in a football club to make money and I'm quite fond of having my shares in the wee rovers.

Whether it's legal or not, individual clubs can have a code of conduct that bans anything they want as long as it isn't discriminatory. I thought that generally involved political displays or demonstrations but I haven't checked Motherwell's.

They were roundly condemned in the media and by their club. As you said, some of their members were suspended - that meant they were going to come back. Did you seriously think Celtic were going to give life bans to lots of supporters when they had no proof against individuals? I'd like to think the police would have been doing something about it if that sort of proof was available.

I thought they completely bossed their centre forward and while Hutch was done like a kipper for the first, big Mick wasn't at fault at the goals. He was unlucky not to equalise and won the game for us with a thunderous header. For those reasons and for leading by example I voted for McManus.

To be honest, our performance that day gave more reasons to hate us than St. Mirren! I've just remembered the whole Arbroath debacle in the cup. We were fortunate to be leading at half time through a Townsley goal when the ref abandoned the match. He probably saved us as we were going to be against the gale force wind for the second half. We went up for the re-scheduled game midweek and were diabolical and escaped with a 1-1 draw. I was raging at the performance and uncharacteristically gave Davies some stick. It was a long drive home!

They should be shouting a major change like this from the rooftops (I appreciate it has just been announced) and not just to the survey respondents. Time for articles with friendly journalists looking to fill column inches, in the programme, on the website etc. Everyone who could potentially be persuaded needs to know how simply they could do it. I'm a member but this will probably allow me to step up to the next grade.

I did say it's a crazy rule but unless the rules have been changed for this season that would normally have attracted a yellow card.

I thought Aberdeen looked a very strong, experienced side against us and they have strength in depth. They've had quite a few late goals recently which have made a real difference to their points and I can see why - their physical strength must allow them to keep going right to the end when other teams are tiring. We noticed a difference in strength and fitness when McGhee first arrived and McInnes seems to have made a similar impact - perhaps that says more about how both teams were previously coached. The other thing that struck is that experience and depth doesn't come cheap. I know they've far greater income than we have but they must be pushing the boat out cash-wise for a club that was supposedly looking t bring down their debt. I'm still not sure how Rooney didn't receive a second yellow for running all the way behind the goals after his goal. It's a crazy rule but I thought that was as clear a booking for leaving the park as you're likely to see.

That day wins hands down for me. We had to park miles away and were soaked to the skin before reaching the ground. Then stood on open terracing in the pissing rain watching us get absolutely thumped by a team we hated. No contest for me.

I'm sure they would have stepped it up but I saw a video clip on someone's phone after the game and Higdon was miles onside. Humphrey's sitter at the end was quite unbelievable as well.

Fans crawl out of the woodwork for semi's and even more so for finals. That's hardly unique to Aberdeen but yes, they do have an extremely arrogant support.
-
Yes but that's money we desperately need and I assume no half decent offer came in. Hearts have just sold an untried youngster for £150k and Falkirk got a similar amount for a young player. St. Johnstone reportedly rejected £500k for May. We don't seem to get these offers but unfortunately we can't force clubs to make bids.

My comment was in reply to the next re-building exercise in the summer. With your second paragraph describing our likely reduced budget, I can't see us doing anything else but reducing quality and quantity.

..... and further downsizing.

According to the programme, their mascot was from Glasgow. Do away teams normally have mascots at Fir Park?
-
Unfortunately we're going to see that reason again in next year's statement.

Forecast is for showers with maybe 1mm of rain. Not much - hopefully the pitch will stand up to it.

I thought Kello signed for the rest of the season at St. Mirren.

I was privileged to witness his sliding tackle at Easter Road. Unbelievable!

It provided a bit of light hearted chat that most folk enjoyed - where's the harm in that? Thanks for the efforts.

Surely Wylde would have been paid off by Aberdeen. He wouldn't just walk away from a well paid contract unless he had already arranged a similar deal elsewhere.
-
From what I've seen, he deserves it. He's always impressed in games against us since he joined Aberdeen and has been my pick as man of the match in a good few of them.

Worst Midfielders To Grace The Claret & Amber
daver replied to Goggles & Flippers's topic in Club Chat
I don't think anyone is going to lose sleep over nominating a player who maybe doesn't deserve it and my comment was more on a shortcoming of the system rather than a dig at you. You're certainly due a big thank you from all of us who have enjoyed a bit of reminiscing and debate between games.
