  1. I assume Utd. have had to pay these lower division clubs for their young players. It's a risky strategy which seems to be working for them but a few development fees for players who don't make the grade would quickly eat into our resources.
  2. Standing behind the goal outside the ground would depend on their views on public drinking and what would be considered here as loitering. I hope you are all allowed to watch somehow but if there ends up with over a hundred outside then the chances sound slimmer.
  3. There are some pretty big names kicking about even at the third round and almost all of those teams will have a bigger budget than ourselves. There comes a point where you wonder if we would just want a tie we can make some money out of, knowing it would take a miracle for us to get through.
  4. Thanks Brazilian. That is indeed an impressive scoreline, no matter the opposition. They're obviously at the top of their game and not to be taken lightly.
  5. Thanks. Where did you quote from?
  6. For those of us on phones without the Shoutbox, what was the impressive scoreline?
  7. I didn't make it to Llanelli but was there not a few thousand Well fans there? Doubt we'd have quite as many this time but it sounds like it would be an almighty ticket scramble.
  8. If he has rejected a new contract at United I would have thought it very unlikely we would offer him more.
  9. Put me down for £20 and if I can't work out PayPal I'll send you a cheque.
  10. If it was the first of their nine in a row, it was even more before my time! (Sorry - my phone doesn't seem to allow the reply function any more).
  11. For me it was all about Celtic not winning the league on our patch over and above the rare joy of beating one of the old firm. Rangers winning the league because of it gave me no joy whatsoever and didn't really enter my head. It was fabulous though! Celtic winning the league against us for 9 in a row is before my time. We've done pretty well with Skippy Sunday and games against Rangers when they could have won the league in 91 and 97 (?). Compare that with Kilmarnock who seem to keep having to witness title celebrations.

    Board Statement

Ok, I'll put my hand up and admit to being confused by how much they actually mean. If it's a low 6 figure sum, why didn't they just say so? It does make you realise how important that win at Aberdeen was.

    Board Statement

They're talking about this statement just now on Radio Scotland and they've said over £100,000 also. Can people not understand what a 5 figure sum means!
  14. The one big problem I see with a season ticket for particular games is if one of them gets moved and you can't make it. If it was a deal for 3 or 5 games it would probably then be poor value for money. Having a deal where you pick and choose games sounds like a hell of a lot of administration.
  15. For a long time I've thought that something could be done for away fans along the those lines, maybe on a geographical basis. For instance, us, St. Mirren, Thistle and Killie could put together an away ticket for one match at each of the other venues for your team. Making it one match only would address the split but there would probably be league rules preventing it as the teams not involved might see it as reducing the away supports they receive.
  16. I think Accies bought him following a loan spell when he had been very impressive, probably hoping they could sell him on. How times have changed!
  17. I don't normally listen to Clyde but I heard that on Monday. Not only was it admitted as complete speculation, it was a wee boy and about Chris Sutton. It somehow seems to have become news with the wrong name. Journalists are actually getting paid for this crap and papers are publishing it.
  18. I assume this is down to the media's portrayal of Dundee United playing 'sexy' football. Yes, they've been very impressive at times (particularly at our expense) but they've been very poor at times also. Our consistency has gained us more points and a higher league placing but we've not been making exciting headlines.
  19. That report doesn't mention McFadden had an earlier similar attempt which the goalie saved well. He really was a revelation when he first broke through.
  20. What happened - was Craigan out of the BT box celebrating?
  21. I think it was only a few minutes after a rare Jennings goal as well.
  22. That's later than the Van Der Gaag goal posted earlier so that'll do for me! The last minute equaliser for Lukas against Hibs wasn't near enough the last kick of the season as we played at Ibrox and scored 2 very late goals there as well (sorry for being pedantic).
  23. Was Bobby Russell's shimmy goal at Parkhead a late one? Ian Angus's equaliser from a Gillespie mistake was and was very enjoyable!
  24. Oops great minds think alike! I'd started writing my post and then the phone went (my dad to talk about the McManus news) and then I finished my post without checking what had been posted in the meantime.
  25. This has got me thinking now. How late was Kirky's free kick at Aberdeen? Ray Farningham's late header in early Souness era at Ibrox with what I think was our only attempt on goal. That really was a robbery!
