  1. nevin and goodwin were both employed as chief executive.
  2. so goodwin shouldn't take any blame for RBS?
  3. because nevin was the guy with the purse strings. he signed the wasters.
  4. he got a cheer to start with. then he said he wanted killie to win and he got pelters
  5. i wish i could be as confident as others about this game. mccall has made an arse of the last 4 fixtures. i can't say i've got much faith in him sending out a team capable of making chances and scoring on saturday.
  6. i was thinking about this earlier on. how many spl games can you say we played really well? the opening day, the 4 home wins in febraury and the first trips to easter road, tannadice and east end park. the first win over hearts we were rubbish first half but good against 10 men in the 2nd and you could maybe at a push include the win at perth in december. so 8 - 10 good performances and the rest ranging between mediocre and diabolical.
  7. united have lost bauben, gomis, conway and goodwillie. they have replaced them with players of lesser quality. they are a decent team now but it took them a few months to get going. i actually think with the standard of the league this season due to the amount of downsizing going on united's team from last season and our team from the season before would both be in 2nd at the moment. our target has been getting the champions league spot from the moment rangers went into admin. it's not a primary school sports day where everyone wins, if we don't get that spot we will have failed.
  8. reaching the europa isn't the issue. finishing behind united will be a failure.
  9. it'll be a good season but a missed opportunity. considering the quality in our squad and the troubles of hearts, hibs and aberdeen and the rebuilding job united had to do i don't think 4th would be a great achievement. in fact i'd say getting 5th in 09/10 would be a better achievement than 4th this season considering the strenghts of the opposition.
  10. did you walk out the last year saying every team rather than celtic would swap places so it's ok? this year we have the chance to do something special because of the stars alligning in a strange way. we carried a strong squad over from last season and were able to add to it due to the cup final money. rangers are up shit creek which opens up the champions league place, hearts have been a farce for a large part of the season, united lost their 4 best players and had to rebuild and hibs and aberdeen are in the gutter. the conditions are perfect for us to get 3rd and if we don't do it will be a failure. to say that we should be happy because we're not bottom or in the shitter is crazy. we've got a good squad and it's not unrealistic to expect them to play to their abilities. if we don't get 3rd then the chances are we will have only 1 or 2 of our last 10 games. malpasesque.
  11. he was about 8 yards away from him. not a cross in my book.
  12. what are worried about happening outside at full time?
  13. do you think this could be connected to the fact that we have created the square route of fuck all chances against aberdeen, killie, rangers, hibs and celtic? maybe someone a bit better at football should be our main attacking threat? i don't remember him finding a motherwell player with a cross once recently. certainly not in the last two games.
  14. we've been utter shite since humphrey came back into the team. the guy is doing better but he is still never a footballer, he hasnt managed to find a motherwell player with a cross in months. he's been here so long that we're used to his inepitutude but he is not and never will be good enough. apart from the occasional carthorse every half decent spl defender knows how to deal with him now. randolph hateley hutchy clancy hammell law jenno lasley murphy higdon ojaama

hutchy by a mile. i thought jenno was off the pace and well below his usual standard. very suprised he got the sponsors award.
  16. mccall has a lot to answer for. we are never going to get the better of celtic with humphrey and daley in the deal team. daley is hopeless with a terrible attitude and the fact he'll be here next season is sickening. humphrey is doing a better job of impersonating a footballer recently but he still has zero end product and continually embarasses himself falling over and knocking the ball out of play. the tactics were shite from the kick off and his idea of playing law centre mid failed once again but the worst thing was we didn't adjust at all when it turned out they were playing 3-5-2 was a joke. cha constantly pushed right onto hammell and we were 4 vs 3 at the back all the time. that cost us the 1st goal. mccall is having an utter nightmare recently. waiting until we wer two down to make a change at killie, no subs until rangers scored in the 89th minute even though we were on our last legs (the omar comes on because we actually want to score now), no left hand side of the park at hibs. mccall inherited a solid team with a keeper, back 4 and centre midfield pairing who have carried us this season. beyond that what has he done? he needs to get back to the line up that did well against hearts and st johnstone a few months ago. since murphy dropped out the team we've scored 1,0,1,1,0. if he thinks humphrey or daley are better options he needs to find a new profession.
  17. it's worth remembering that craigan was a year older than page when he left us to go to partick. i'd say page right now is at least as good as craggs was when he was 22, probably better. his last two starts have been impressive and i think he has benefited from being in the team as the best option available rather than getting in for a cup game and feeling he has to impress while knowing he'll be dropped for the next game regardless. i've got the impression a few times from page and also mchugh that they are putting themselves under too much pressure when they get a start as they aren't just playing that game they are playing for their career.

a point tomorrow would be huge. i'd feel much more confident with a 4 point gap than i would with 3.
  19. here's the squad from wiki for that season. we were a shambles.a squad full of overpaid pish and this was after his first attempt at downsizing when mcculloch, mcmillan, brannan, goram, teale, spencer, thomas (£150,000 and probably half a million in wages for 16 appearances, good one pat!) and goodman left. the guy didn't have a clue.
  20. a chief executive that wasn't actually responsible for anything. is he related to fred goodwin?
  21. the main outcome of this is that rooney is banned for england's first two euro 2012 games. all's well that ends well .
  22. maybe the people that are on the board have more information to base their decisions on than you and i? i've seen a lot of posters saying they'd rather massively cut the playing budget than have a newco rangers in the spl but that ignores the fact that we owe nicky law, higdon, murphy, hutchy, randolph and hateley a lot of money next season. it would be a boot in the balls if all the money we raised was pissed away within 12 months.
