The penny eventually dropped with the club that he had no intention whatsoever of re-signing and they accepted that. I don't recall him leading the team out in his final game, but I'm happy to take your word for that. I don't remember if he lead the team out or not but I do remember he got a good reception from the fans. Wouldn't have said he left with any bad feelings . Toxteth O'Grady
Some nice comments from Simo on his time at Motherwell https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy9195z131o "I have been dreaming of it," said Valakari. "I never took it for granted that I would come back here, but when I started my coaching career one of my things was 'yes, one day I would like to coach in Scotland'. "I started my professional career here so it was always a special place in my heart and how I see Scottish football, how I see this culture, everyone is breathing football. That is what I have been missing in my last positions. "Without Motherwell, I would not go to the Premier League, without Motherwell I would not go to the MLS, without Motherwell more likely I would not have played for the Finnish national team. Motherwell made me the player that I was."

steelboy
Spittal playing and now getting beat for Hearts in Azerbaijan against Dinamo Minsk. The best bit of entertainment has been Michael Stewart going on a long rant saying Hearts should approach Derek McInnes about the manager's job despite that being against SFA rules. steelboy
Hearts got a winner. Incredible that they managed a win in Europe while being held back by the other teams in the league.

weeyin
Was looking at all the ex-Well players at St Mirren, and was wondering how Lee Erwin was doing these days after he left Paisley. I remembered he had played in Lebanon for a while, but didn't realise he was back in Finland where he's on a tear with 5 goals in 8 games. In fact, if you look at his record, since he left St Mirren he's played 66 league games and scored 40 goals. Obviously found a level where he excels. Kmcalpin
Kevin Van Veen not showing the form he did with us. James Scott not impressing either. Fair dos to St Mirren though what a crowd today. Over 17,000 (source BBC).

Scored a few goals in HJK's run to group stages as well. One of his mates was telling me he has made a good living out of the game. Invested his money wisely if what I was told is accurate. Good luck to the guy.

Two cracking goals. It's been a good game, much better than the dross first half of Villa vs Man Utd. Devlin has to start for Scotland ahead of Ralston.
