Mad Dog
I'm really hoping that this is all just shite. The boy surely has greater ambitions than Derby County - offence absolutely and fully intended.

A few folk replied to the guy saying that he was out of contract so Motherwell wouldn’t be entitled to anything (that was my take as well) however this person seems in the know and said Motherwell had concluded a deal prior to his contact expiring and Sturm Graz signed up to it to guarantee his signature. if that’s the case someone at Motherwell needs a gold medal. When a young player is out of contract, my understanding is the two clubs can still make a deal e.g. waive the compensation fee due, and take a future cut of transfers instead. The UEFA calculation only comes into play if no agreement is reached. (Although I could be wrong, because I don't really keep up to date with all those rules) Agree about Derby County, though. Seems like a step backwards.

Just saw this? #There’s no confirmation from any official source that Motherwell received any money from Cardiff related to Turnbull’s departure Not sure what the score would be then for Johnston? Just seemed weird that Derby people were going on about fees due to Motherwell. I suppose that the exact wording of such matters can vary between deals. Just seemed weird that Derby people were going on about fees due to Motherwell. Even if Motherwell did not agree a deal with Sturm Graz we are due something if he switches countries. Because we coached him from 12 to 19. Applies to every cross border move he makes from now on regardless of age. It does not add up to much though. Although it would do me! 5% of transfer fee is deducted and split between those parent clubs that coached a player age 12 to age 21. So for £2m.... (£1.4m and £1.6m turned down previously but guess now SG out of Champions League they are needing to sell).....seven ninths (years coached) of £100k (5%) = just under £78k. However if that 15% is accurate as having been agreed then if fee is £2m we are due £300k. Everything I read at the time said MJ left us as out of contract with no deal agreed. But Motherwell are good at keeping things confidential so fingers crossed.
weeyin
Did Turnbull get injured again? I saw he was a sub midweek, produced the assist for a late winner, and won his starting spot today. I turned today's game on later in the first half and he'd been subbed after 32 mins.

Yeah i actually watched their game, he was excellent as well, and then went down unchallenged and hobbled off. The boy has no luck. This was a lad who had no injuries ever until he was forced into that preventative surgery and now he seems to be a continual crock. Gutted for him. Clarke is a joke though having Ralston and Hanley in there. Quite seriously on performances this season SODs is a better option than them. We definitely dropped the ball (as it were) when Craig Gordon was number one, and didn't work on developing his replacement. It's not like we didn't have plenty of time. Spit_It_Out
I tell you one thing i would rather call up my local junior club GK than Gunn he is so overated never rated him at all. Turnbull has a Groin strain the Crdiff manager doesnt think he will be out that long i think he is on played 4 games with 3 assists so started the season well hopefully it continues. Good to know about Turnbull. Players who aren't playing for their club should be no place near a starting spot at international level, but no doubt Gunn will be in between the sticks again for the next Scotland game. firparkfred
Just had a look at the Italian game line ups. Udinese have 14 substitutes. Seems totally ridiculous.

Big Tosh
I see George Long (2015 play-off keeper) has just moved from Norwich to Southampton on loan. I thought he was down in the lower reaches these days. Good to hear and will done him!

Do well and the PL beckons pretty soon. And still so young. Might turn out to be a clever move as he should be a starter at Derby which may well not have been the case if he had opted for the likes of Italy. Champions League wise I guess he will not miss being humped every game. Whatever happens he should be sorted financially for life. Good luck to him. The other thing is we don't really know who wanted him enough to meet SG price. So maybe not the options we all think.
weeyin
I have no idea what state they are in now, but weren't they docked points and put into administration recently? Of course there is a chance to be picked up by EPL clubs - just surprised a struggling Championship team was his best option.
