100% this. If you eliminated OF connections, we would have missed out on the successful spells from Davie Hay, Tommy McLean, Mark McGhee (1st spell), Stuart McCall and Craig Brown.

Not from Jock Wallace the bastard

I personally wouldn't bother if Neil got the job but given that he's been linked with us every time someone has left or got sacked and not been appointed it's surely odds on that he won't be our next manager

He has been average or poor in any job he has done. Even struggled to manage to beat teams as smelltic manager with massive budget.

Honestly, couldn't care less about rangers or celtic...but I would care if that walloper Lennon was anywhere near our Club, his managerial record is stinking and he's an idiot, who seems to relish in falling out with people.

Agree totally he's a balloon. He has no clue. Suppose he's used to abuse as his record is so shit so he wouldn't resign for that reason 😂😂😂

Wouldnt have an issue with Brown if he is identified as the best candidate. The problem he will have will be similar to mccall in that there will be a section of our fans who will never accept him*.

*that section will be the opposite of the mccall haters

I wouldn't have Brown, not because he played for celtic ...more his attitude when he did play , thought he was a ticket winding people up and his carry on with big kipre was an example...so not for me

Also mccall was a great manager and quite a personable guy.

Im personally not bothered about "bigoted baggage". I just said that he's been linked with us a lot in the past and still is if you look at the bookies odds.

For all Neil's faults I think he was targeted badly by a bunch of morons.  Getting sent bullets in the post. That's not on him

My family are Irish Roman Catholic on my dad's side and they came to Scotland because of the troubles. If people are bigots that's on them.

Do I have baggage because I'm half Irish? Robbo is Northern Irish. What's the difference - because Neil managed Celtic?

There's plenty of ex old firm players who would make or have been good managers then there's the browns and lennons.

They're both wind up merchants for me. It's easy to be winding up people when you're in winning team every week...why bring someone in who is going to divide the support even more?

Lennon will be another version of Alexander. He'll come in and gradually fall out with everyone over the space of 18 months - 2 years and leave the place a complete disaster behind him.

Oh, and he threatened to have his partner stabbed. So there is that.

We shouldn't be entertaining the idea of him even in the slightest.

Re 2nd para, I'd forgotten about that....everyone has it in for him though so must have been a mistake.

Its been unusually quiet on the vacancy front. No doubt our search for a new manager has been overshadowed by Stuart Kettlewell's departure story and I get that. However, everyone now needs to move on.  I'm surprised however that the club hasn't released a short statement on the filling the vacancy.  I know that we've been told that Stephen Frail will take over on a caretaker basis, but the club now needs to regain the narrative and be a bit more proactive.

Don't think they put a statement out the last twice we've appointed a new manager. They've just announced who got the job when they were appointed. Both times filling the vacancy took just under a fortnight.

And to be honest, just keeping their mouths shut and getting on with it for a while probably isn't a bad idea, given their current standard of public communications.

What connection did Craig Brown have with either of them?

Let's not forget the almost unique situation that we are not in a desperate situation, frantically trying to avoid relegation.

We are therefore not looking for an escape artist.

Personally I'd like to see someone with a wealth of English Div1/2 experience/contacts and a reputation for attacking football and developing younger players.

Hammell was the 'easy' choice but a gamble, and not ready.

Kettlewell was the 'easy' choice, but had failed at Ross County - which should have had alarm bells ringing.

No need to rush into this. Take your time MFC and get it right please.

I think that's a reasonable skill set on which to base our search. Certainly someone with a reputation for fielding attack minded sides would go a long way to rekindling the support's enthusiasm.

According to the BBC there had been over 100 applications as of an hour ago. No appointment before Sunday, which shouldn't shock anyone.

Wee Dougie Imrie sent in 92 of them.

I'm seeing Chris Hughton being linked with the job that would be a really interesting one. He's been around the premeir league and championship in England for a long time and to me would be quite an exciting appointment. Lots of experience and great contacts not convinced he'd take the job tho.
