Of course he's had the new job lined up for maybe a few weeks and Motherwell obviously knew about it as we've agreed a compensation package. Nobody was going to announce it while we were still not safe from relegation were they.

So why not ditch the conspiracy theories and accept he put his family 1st in a far more dignified and respectful way than Kettlewell did.

The BBC article says he informed the club "earlier this week''.

Obviously you don't get a job in a couple of days.

The German article suggests he impressed their board in what I presume was an interview? Anyway, he’s offski… end of

Always a risk when you appoint a foreign manager or sign a foreign player especially if they've got a wife and young family who haven't moved with them.

At the end of the day family always comes first second and last.

We need to stay clear of the usual merry go round.mcinnes to hearts, kettlewell heavily linked with Killie and if we go for the likes of dochery is a big part of the reason why scottish football won't ever get above the mediocre, there all crap managers that play the same way, sign the same type of player.....no thanks.

It's got appointing Tony Docherty all over it. Won't go foreign again as we did and they left after 12 games.

No thank you. He struggled under pressure and couldn't organise Dundee's defence in 2 seasons. He had a bigger budget than us to spend and his team finshed 10th. Not what we need.

Could get behind that appointment

Is that the same guy that finished two places below us in the league with a vastly superior budget and a natural goalscorer, no thanks. Probably going to hearts with his pal.

I would like it to be Scott Brown.

I would not like it to be Simo Valakari.

Give me your pitch gor brown,  managed to get big cedric sent off in years gone by and  didn't get ayr up , so I don't see why he's any better than any other run of the mill guy out there, that's apart from who/ what he is.

John Mcglynn is a more understated guy but doubt he'd leave falkirk for us.

from his New clubs website ……..with dodgy translation….

The SSV Jahn Regensburg has filled the post of head coach with Michael Wimmer. The 44-year-old football teacher takes over the head coach for the new season 2025/26 and has signed a contract in the cathedral city until 30.06.2027. Most recently, Wimmer, who came from Dingolfing in Lower Bavaria, worked for the Scottish first division team Motherwell FC.

The new head coach of the SSV Jahn has been determined and is called Michael Wimmer. Together, the heads of the SSV Jahn and the native of Dingolfinger have agreed on a cooperation for the next two years.

Sports Managing Director Achim Beierlorzer says: "Michael Wimmer has left a very good impression on us and quickly showed that with his ideas, ideas as well as his energy and personality he fits our expectations and our requirements for the new Jahn head coach. His teams want to act courageously and with high intensity and show purposeful football. His approach focusses on people and the team, which is why he also stands for the further development of young players. As a native of Lower Bavaria, he knows SSV Jahn well and identifies with the values and the game idea. He can and will be able to give our club a lot. I would also like to thank those responsible for Motherwell FC for the constructive approach that makes it possible for Michael Wimmer to take over the coaching office in Regensburg.

He sounds just the job for us...

Unfortunately, time is really not on our side. The players are off for 4 weeks, there's recruitment to be done and there will soon be a preseason upon us. We've really no time to hang around. Not ideal timing.

Wimmer took 3 weeks.

We didnt panic when the team was spiralling and we all thought we were heading for the drop, and we shouldnt panic now.

The club should take as long as it needs to to get the right person in post.

Different now, recruitment needed, players to be released, season ticket sales etc

We have a head of recruitment, coaching staff, and a CEO, amongst others, to keep things moving. Rushing a decision now could cause irreparable damage. The same due diligence should be put in to every appointment regardless ofnthe situation.

We can't do anything about the manager leaving, but we can control not messing up the next steps.

One other thing to add is that Wimmer has landed a likely higher salaried job.
ChatGPT estimates their turnover at 15-20 million euros and were in the German championship albeit relegated.
Maybe like Plymouth equivalent of Germany.
But Motherwell can be a stepping stone especially in the UK.

I'd really be sounding out Ahmet now - to continue what we had started.

Time would be on our side to get recruits in. Players know him and presuming they like him.

No mention of him in the club statement, so he may not have followed Wimmer out the door. Would soften the blow if he's still committed to MFC.
