Theo Bair apparently getting loaned out by Auxerre with Dundee sniffing about - one-season wonder or did he do enough to be welcomed back to Fir Park in the new JBA-era?

Good shout, physical , strong and fast..defo came on a good bit with us and presumably even better after playing in France.

If be "even better" you mean he scored 2 goals last season and was dropped from the international team due to poor form, then yes.

A one season wonder for me, that we cashed in nicely by robbing Auxerre of £600 K.

HIs physical attributes mean he can do well in our league.

He's not a footballer though, he's a unit, so stepping up to a Top 5 league always seemed a long shot.

There are different levels in the game and ours is fairly low down the ladder.

Which Man city boys, Haaland and Rodri would do nicely?

I would think probably more along the lines of Will Dickson. Not seeing any scorch marks on the grass from his time here.

Can't understand negativity around bair. Is he better than what's there just now? He gave the glasgow 2s defense a hard time which showed how good he was. If we could get him back with 2 wingers and a midfield that can pass the ball i can't see why he would not enhance us.

Wasn't Bair main attribute using his pace and strength to run in behind, chasing long balls?

Maybe a passing midfield isn't what he'd prosper off.

BTW I think we are still a bit away from having a 'passing midfield'.

I'd disagree with this tbh. There were a few goals like the chip against Livi or the one at Ibrox where he skinned a defender or pulled off some pretty technically impressive finishes.

I do agree that he's probably out of his depth in Ligue 1 where the base technique and proficiency will be a lot higher but if I think of recent guys that were all blood and thunder I think Bair had much more ability on the ball than Bowman or Main etc.

Watt.fadinger and slattery are all players who want to pass the ball and although a short timespan they all look at this stage to be good footballers compared to other midfielders we have had recently. We are well fans and are pessimists by nature regards our team but at least now after a few dire years there is some hope and optimism from the majority.

I liked Theo, but I'd still prefer we went for a new player, ideally used to playing on our new formation.

Here are all Theo's goals from his time with us. I'll leave it others to judge how technical they were.

If we are judging him against Maswanhise no, Stamatelopoulos even thought i not fully convinced by him, again no, Robinson if ever he gets fit, maybe yes but the bars not high on that comparison.

For me Bair was a hoof it forward and I'll chase it type of player with questionable positional sense, so given the style JBA wants us playing hes not what we need.

For me Theo was a one season wonder. No way that I'd want to take him back. It is a brave new footballing world that we face this season, we should not be considering the return of previous players that worked in a different system.

Sure but he did well in spl so he may do again, as others pointed out french football is a few levels up.

Maswanhise with all respect is a winger. Stamatelopoulos? Cmon .we r hoping he will be good but other than a great strike against hibs he has not shown much. Even when bair wasn't scoring he was creating space for others. All about opinions but for me I think he would fit in perfectly

Without being specific about Bair, we do have a habit of bringing players back to the club. Sometimes it works, sometimes not..

There have been suggestions on here that it's lazy or unimaginative recruitment. But if (and this hasn't always been the case when we've done it) it's a type of player we need, I can see why it might be a thing that appeals to the club. Not for sentimental reasons either. If someone has been at the club before, you know what kind of personality you're bringing into the group. They know the area, you don't need to worry about them settling in. You know they're not coming expecting state of the art training facilities

As I said, I'm not advocating for the return of Bair. But there are sometimes advantages of signing a former player...

I've a feeling he's defo wanting a CB who is a better fitba player than we have.

Also there was the Chat of the Man City boys too.

Some online chat that this might be one of the Man city boys we are trying to bring in on loan, a defensive midfielder, the replacement for Miller maybe?

Thought we might have seen something about Miller today.

If the story of him flying abroad yesterday are true then I’d suspect today would have been a look around the club and it’s facilities and talking to the manager today with possibly a medical and scans over today and tomorrow. If all is true and everything goes well then I’d expect something tomorrow or Friday.

Yup all about opinions and I'm a big Stama fan.

Providing he stays fit 15+ goals this season. Watch this space.
