I'd guess Ox is back given he was available on the bench last week ahead of Connelly.

But he wasn’t picked to play from the start, which would suggest that either he isn’t 100% fit or the manager doesn’t rate him, which I would find strange given that Ox is clearly our best goalkeeping option.

Didnt Ox play 30 minutes against Hertha?

Or did I just imagine that?

Games last 90 minutes + though.

He did. I just assumed he wasn't 100% for the Rangers game.

And we get there eventually. So…I’ll say it again, Connelly being loaned out leaves us a bit short on goalkeeper options. Unless Ox is due back*.

(*back as in fit enough to play)

Of course, it could be JBA prefers Ward - we'll find out soon enough.

I do prefer Ox as he’s got more of a presence about him but Ward hasn’t done a lot wrong so far? Connelly looks a good young keeper but he’s far too small to be a top level goalie I fear.

Or maybe the manager is just easing an important player back into the fold by giving him some game time without risking him unecessarily. He had a serious injury last season and a second one in pre season.

If he didnt rate him he wouldnt be sending Connolly out on loan.

Tam Cowan stated openly on Off the Ball on Saturday that the deal has been done and he knows the destination but was sworn to secrecy until it is announced this week.

Did I miss the announcement this week, or was that also secret?

One striker, one midfielder, one defender? Not much depth behind the three of Fadinger, Watt and Slattery...

We have Sparrow and Halliday, in the short term at least, but I know what you mean.

To get us to the next window, I'd lean towards 2 strikers and one defender unless Ross shows he is good enough.

Id be surprised if we didnt bring in another midfielder. Halliday will be absolutely fine in that midfield, but we need some more cover/competition. We were rumored to be interested in dean McMaster from airdrie (one of their fans posted on P&B).

I'd agree that another striker and a defender on top of that are needed. Two strikers would be nice.

I think we could be looking at two of each, especially if one or two that have sat on the bench so far can find a club. I’d like a goalkeeper too but that’s maybe wishful thinking.

Can see your thinking there regards numbers. Just in terms of centre backs, if we move Balmer on (as we're rumoured to be trying to, notable we didn't bring him on and shunt O'Donnell to RB today when Koutroumbis went off), then we'll have moved on three (Casey, Blaney and Balmer) and brought none in. Even allowing for the fact we've gone from playing three centre backs to two, that doesn't sound viable.

In terms of goalkeepers, most clubs like to have at least three available. Connolly is away til January at the very least so I reckon you might see something happening there...

As far as I'm aware we've never had more than two keepers for the last few seasons. Connolly was only recalled last season when Ox broke his thumb and Mair did the same. If we really needed a third keeper that badly then surely we would have kept Connolly

I reckon we'll need 2 strikers, a midfielder and 1/2 central defenders. Michael Wimmer said that we needed to strengthen our striking noptions and we all knew we were light in that department going into the League Cup group games. Those games only confirmed what we already knew. Some very neat football but absolutely no cutting edge.

From The Herald:

Udinese are pursuing a £4.5million deal to take Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller to Serie A.

The Italian side had an offer of £2.5million turned down for the Scotland international in January.

Herald Sports understands the two clubs have held fresh discussions with Motherwell in line for a club record sale exceeding the £3.25million secured from Celtic for David Turnbull.

And, despite links with Bologna, Torino and Fiorentina, Udinese, 12th place finishers in Serie A last season, hope to conclude an agreement this week.

I have to admit, considering all the hype around Lennon (mostly from his dad 🤣), 4.5mil is underwhelming, especially when you look at bang average players going for tens of millions of pounds all over europe and England in particular.

I suppose its the back water market we are in but hopefully we get a good sell on clause and as Grizzly says, we can move on as its really dragging on now!!!!!

It's all potential that's being paid for at the moment. As good as he is, lots of players his age disappear of the radar by the time they are 21.

We can get good value in add-ons with the right deal though.

I'm not quite sure what kind of money you were expecting, as this is very much in the ball park of every valuation I have seen since the outset.
