Orinoco
Given the way he left us, it makes no sense to bring him back to develop, just so they can get £4m plus by selling him on. If we could buy him back for buttons, but with a sell on percentage, then thats beneficial to everyone. In anycase would he get enough game time given the way our midfield has been performing so far, and likely to get better??

Orinoco
Turnbull could play the Just role. Wages would probably be an issue tho.

stv
We may be running the risk of being seen as or data pointing towards us being a club that developes bigger clubs young players saving them the bother and getting nowt out of it at the end of the loan. Ending up with a lot of young loanees, learning their trade. With us having to change the team every year when they go back , in the long run doesn't really help us much. Richie
The main criticism of Turnbull from people is mobility, which is what he'd need with how we are currently playing.

mio
Turnbull is a definite no go, I think he’ll be at Cardiff for another 2 years and see out his contract. Crazy money involved down there. as for Rice, even if he does come and does well, he’d need removed any time we played Rangers, I just think it screws up team dynamics when we get a loanee from SPFL teams. Not just for those weeks he’s not allowed to play but a week or so after it when he gets back in the team. If we could sign him permanently great, I’d take him then but is he the type to take a drop in pay To kick start his career? I’m not so sure. wellsince75
Re Bailey Rice- if he was a youngster from England suspect we'll be pretty happy. Complimenting our squad with players better than we can afford works for us. The debate appears more around proximity to developing players from teams in the same league as ours. I can understand that agree with Mio's point re not being able to play against Rangers. We do need to bolster the midfiled options, if we have some young guns coming through then great, if not players I'm someone like Rice with similar potential to Miller can have positive outcomes for us both short and longer term. dennyc
26 minutes ago, grizzlyg said: Nothing against young Bailey but I would rather see us develop our own players and break them gently into first team. I think we would all prefer that. Except that currently we do not have one young player that is good enough to step up. And no-one of the quality that Rice showed before his move to Ibrox. Scottish internationalist alongside Miller. And Captain I think. Despite his lack of first team games he has performed well at Rangers. In hindsight maybe he should have stayed with us though. And like Miller waited a few years before cashing in, As soon as we saw Miller and Turnbull given a first team outing it was obvious they were a class above. Can you say that about any of the young players we have seen since? Youth development will continue in the background irrespective of whether we bring in loan players or not. The Miller fee will help in that respect but it will take time. Maybe the extra funding will enable us to poach quality from other Academies which should speed up the process and provide faster results. I hope so. The only down side with Rice would be him having to sit out any game against Rangers. He is out of contract in 2026 and if we got the opportunity to sign him outright…now or then… I think we would crazy to pass up on the opportunity. Of course some fans will never get over the fact he opted to move to Rangers and would be on his back from day one. Such is life in Scotland where even revealing their backing for either of the OF brings out the worst in fans of their parent club. We are no exception. Bottom line. Any signing that improves the side is a good signing. Loan or not.
