Plus, in the games he did play this season, he looked very comfortable in our new system with the ball at his feet. I agree, however, we need 3 on the books. Now that we are all much more comfortable with Jensball, Im all up for more Cruyff Turns on top of our unecessary passes & dribbles! Just need to sort the striker berth to get back to having more high goal shoots! 😆😆😆

Our model is to sell and re invest in other areas of the club. January after AFCON will be Maswanhise's peak value while he's a Motherwell player. I think it's fairly likely we cash in on him and try and replace him. Welsh is out with our control he's a Celtic player and they can do as they please with him. Might be January, might be end of season or maybe the season after that. again like any investment what dividends do we realize while we hold onto our assets? Kmcalpin
At the end of his latest interview, JBA stated that there were one or two players who will need to move on in the next window. Andy Halliday and Kofi Balmer anyone?
Orinoco
Maybe Oxburough and Balmer. The goalie perhaps showing in training he is not as good as Ward with ball and feet. Also Balmer is just average at best and way down pecking order.

He’ll get minutes once he’s fit since JBA rotates a lot. Not the worst bit of cover if he’s willing to play the JBA way. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if all three moved on.

wellfan
I’ve been one of the more vocal critics of Ward since he came in, but credit where it’s due. He’s done what’s been asked of him, taken risks and clearly improved. Our best form of defence is keeping the ball, and he’s been integral to that.

grizzlyg
Everyone knows my views on Ward and I am still to be totally convinced but there is definitely improvement there and last Saturday had crucial save at 1-0. For me a goalkeeper needs to be good at crosses and commanding his box which i am not sure Ward does but we are 3rd and 4 clean sheets in a row so what do I know 🤪

He will be the first choice keeper for the forseeable future, and i think Oxborough will be moving on, probably next summer.

I think its also case with me that over the years we have had some great keepers ( and some absolute brutal ones). Ward wouldn't be in my top 5 keepers. Definitely improved with ball at his feet so I do give him credit for that

This side? Im not so sure. As Wellfan says, our best form of defence this season has been keeping the ball. Its a very weird feeling......

Case in point, Big Rab Douglas took time to adjust to playing for Celtic due to being switched on for 90 minutes previously then a virtual spectator in some matches, maintaining concentration was hard. Yes, a lot of our defensive success can be attributed to denying the opposition possession near our box. Ward is a good fit for our system. Like Grizzly though, I'm not 100% convinced of his reliability at cross balls. As Big Mal once said "The greatest crime in football is to make your goalkeeper do any work at all".
joewarkfanclub
As an aside, but still talking about what we want from our goalkeeper, how good would Big Sieb be in this team? 😆😆😆
wellfan
NEW STRIKER PLEASE. We finally put a good ball into the box at the end and, once again, our nearly-man fluffed it.
Orinoco
At least he was on the end of something in the box. Unlike Hendry who does all his work outside the box. These guys would probably do alot better with a partner. But as we dont play that formation they are going to struggle. They do contribute but its an area where we can and hope to improve. The hypothetical question is who would you drop from our current midfield to fit him in?

AP can take pks and Turnbull can take free kicks.

Slattery on current form but competition for places is healthy but can't see Turnbull coming back yet but has maybe looked at our style and thinking if he got a loan move then world cup a slim chance
joewarkfanclub
Take Turnbull in a heartbeat. Someone who can shoot from outside the box would be a very useful addition to our team. Thats if he isnt in fact broken beyond serviceable use. I presume he is already a very rich young man and money might not be the be all and end all for him any more. Bring him home.
