Was the talk at the AGM not that Jens was on a rolling 1 year deal. On Olly Whyte you'd expect he'd be offered a new deal with a view of getting him involved next season. I think also as we have a co-op agreement with Stenhousemuir should the last few games end up with little meaning he'll probably play some minutes.

For what it's worth, in his interview in The Herald recently, Whyte said he wanted to continue develop his career with us. (Of course, he would say that).

It was described as an "Open Contract" the terms of which are not known, but some with knowledge of these things described as a normal employment contract with a notice period on either side.

Basically we wont be getting big compo for him. If a club comes in that he fancies he will be allowed to talk to them......

Im pretty fine with that. We had no way of knowing at the start whether he was gonna be a success or not and he has made us plenty money already on increased gate money and prize money. Not to mention the other sellable assets we now have in the squad.

Which is all true but we could give him a deserved hefty uplift in wages. Means compo increases & you never know may help increase his loyalty.

Of course, that may have already happened & we just dont know.

Im all for that.

I trust the board will be doing everything they can to keep him.

If ever there was a Motherwell manager that could ask for whatever they want, Jens is probably about as close as it gets.

If we sell Maswanhise we dont really need to sell anyone else in the close season. (Caveat being we would need to source a replacement to support Eythor).

If we could guarantee the rest of his team was kept together for a proper tilt at Europe, then maybe, just maybe......

Agree although he is still young and could improve overall as a player but is unlikely to be main striker at many clubs.  

Now if we could persuade someone to buy the joint 11th goal scorer in SPFL (a goal every 1.6 games) for a couple of million that would be a deal worth making  😉

If we can get 4-5M for Maswanhise in the summer and that lets us keep hold of the rest of the team I'd be buzzing. The problem also is though that we market ourselves to players by telling them we'll put them in the shop window so if we start turning down bids for the likes of Just, Watt etc then we'll be left with unhappy players and most likely a new manager having to pick up the peices. Hopefully Sydney or someone else make an offer for Stama and we can shift him off the wage bill as well.

Why should we be talking about selling Maswanhise for 4-5m, when Hibs sold Bowie for 6 million +, and he had nowhere near the number of goals. We should surely be looking at least the same if not more.

Cant argue with that, we done it with Higdon, Bair and Miller, cashed in when their stock was high, and time proved it to be the right call, at least for the 1st two.

Maswhanise is no different, hes a young developing player, already played at international level, so if an acceptable offer comes in ie over £6 million we will sell him, the same as we did with miller, with a good sell on clause.

100% will. Sydney have an option to buy in the loan allegedly so hopefully he starts smashing in goals and they buy him.

If he stays with us does he have another top scorer season amd is worth more and also helps bring in more money from success on the field? I have no clue how much money can be made from progressing thru each stage. 
I sometimes wonder how some of our ex players would have done at Fir park if they had stayed another season.

I think he is likely peak value in the summer. 23/24 year old. Couple of years on the contract. Stonker of a season for club & country. Good pedigree at academy level to suggest not a flash in the pan.

Reckon we get more in the summer than we were offered in January. I like the guy but it will be time to cash that chip in.

Hopefully we keep Just for another season though!

I like Just too much, we should just keep him until his contract runs out.

Its been a breakthrough for him.

You can already see it in some of his performances where he is choosing to try and score himself rather than play in a team mate in a better position.

Not faulting him for that, its his job. But you can see he is focussed on numbers.

If a big offer comes in from a club he likes, I dont think we can stand in his way.

Only so long you can play the, "Dont worry son, we will see you alright card" which I presume was leaned heavily upon during the winter break.

If he hits 30 goals by the end of the season and we make £4-5m, he will go with my best wishes.

Hopefully our recruitment team already have the next prospect identified and waiting in the wings!

If he hits the 30 goal mark, that might mean we are champions, so  i hope we get a lot more than 4 or 5 million.

In my view our business model requires that we sell at least one player a season to keep the wolves from the door and hopefully improve the squad with a new player as good or better to replace him and hopefully improve other positions with some of the cash. 
This season we’ve a few players that fit that plan who have more than 1 season left on their contracts so it’s an ideal scenario where we can both sell someone, keep others and improve the team. 
Possibly one or two players will be angling for a move in the summer but hopefully the chance of European football (I know a lot of folk think that counts for nothing but to play in Europe isn’t something many a fine player has managed and some say they regret it after their careers have ended) and possibly a slightly improved contract will temper their ambitions for another season as a good run in Europe could elevate them further and get them a better move next season. Add to that the extra cash they will get from wins/league position/european qualification bonuses and they might be happier than some folk think. 
Not all players think short term when looking at their careers and they may see staying here as the best option for their future.

Impressive that we've managed to unearth the quality that we have this season.   Agree that Just is different calibre and no doubt all the mid to attack benefit from having him around. 

If we play our cards right we may retain likes of Fadinger, Watt, Priestman, Said, RCC and maybe Slattery v's likes of Welsh, TW and Just are all destined for far bigger clubs and good luck to them. 

I do wonder how much will boil down to whether Jens stays, as suspect many players would follow him. If he is willing to stick around suspect most of the players would give it another season, with the exception of TW who Im not convinced we want to keep forever ( I agree with other comments about him showing signs he cares more about himself than the team) 

For now at least we can continue to stay in dreamland and see how the remainder of the season plays out.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating.

It's ridiculous that after selling MIller, we improved the quality of our midfield.

It's the best combination I have ever seen at Fir Park. Imagine Gary McAllister lining up beside Just, Watt and Fadinger.
