Stephen Pressley has resigned from his position at Brentford? Surely to god no!!!!

whatever happened to Jack Ross, remember a few years ago he was seen as the great hope of Scottish football coaching? I always thought he seemed decent but I think he’s fell off the earth.

Some role at Newcastle scouting was the last I heard of Jack Ross...

There will be lots of managers getting sacked or resigning this time of year, so I wouldn't read anything into any of them.

As for Jack Ross, according Wikipedia, he is working as a coach in Newcastle's academy.

The club has made clear that it's using the same approach and framework as the one that brought us Wimmer, so unless Pressley falls within those parameters, I doubt we'll see him anywhere near the job.

Gonna throw a name out there curious what others think but Des Buckingham could be a good option for us. He did well with New Zealand's under 23s and at Mumbai and got Oxford into the championship. He's a tracker record for working with youth and been relatively successful everywhere he's been. Wondered if anyone else had some thoughts about him?

Does he like a high intensity press and high goal shoots? 😍😍😍

I don't think I'd be expecting the gegenpress from him. I'd probably describe him a bit more of a pragmatic manager who can get results but can change or adjust things.

I may have had more time on my hands than id care to admit so been looking at different highlights and profiles of different managers without a club.

There's a few english managers that could be good, including Buckingham, but there's also a bunch of managerial vacancies in the EFL that they're all linked with, so we may have to see how that shakes out.

Did Ian Evatt apply last time, or was his name just thrown out by someone on here?

Saw an article with John Terry lamenting about his unsuccessful efforts to secure a manager job, maybe he could do a job here? He's obviously remembered fondly for his cup winning exploits with us in '91.

Linfield have given Dundee permission to speak to David Healy about becoming their manager.

Personal view is he's a very good manager, think he's been there for about a decade.

I'd love us to appoint someone who can help us over a long period of time.  Fair play to Dundee if they can land someone of his calibre.

David Healy has a very good track record in Ireland but if hes interested in the Dundee job then his judgement has to be questioned. Its a complete basket case of a club and has been for a good few years.

Meanwhile, we're quietly going about our business.

Linfield are the big team in a bang average league so they are going to win more than most, so healys stats will look good, a bit like Rodgers at Celtic.

For me he cant be thought of as that good a manager as he's been there for a long time , he must have applied for a few jobs but never got any.

If he goes to Dundee that will be a big step up, so time will tell how that pans out.

I hope we use the same approach that identified Wimmer and bring in someone fresh to the Scottish game.

Agree with that. We need the same kind of forward thinking that got us excited when we saw the style Wimmer was looking to develop.

Good point re big team and small league.  Irrespective of league in the modern game lasting 10 years at any club is the exception. It suggests there's some qualities that are good to have.

FWIW I agree about the fresh approach and generally speaking the club have been decent at this. I do think we need is a level of continuity and sustained period of management, hence someone akin to Healy would be solid.
