The Jens Berthel Askou Discussion Thread

Seems like a solid appointment and looks like we have followed a similar process to the managerial one to get the right candidate in.

I wonder if there is a bit of succession planning there and we might be going down the old Liverpool "bootroom" route?

Style, identity, promote from within....

Would certainly make things simpler as and when Jens moves on......

Someone out of the box and not indoctrinated in the SPL way of thinking.

Hopefully, although he did also spend 3 years working for Aberdeen and St Mirren, and his last job was being assistant to someone who played for Celtic for 7 years.

Known in Lanarkshire circles as "the cheap option."

Or "lo barato sale caro" as my Spanish speaking colleague likes to remind us from time to time.

(Cheap turns out expensive)

I realise there is an element of sarcasm involved here, but surely its only the cheap option if you have no plan and you take the option thats right in front of you?

If you have gone to the bother of succession planning the right candidate (IF thats what has happened) then I would commend it.

As I read it, the comment was made on the references to the "Liverpool boot room model" not the appointment of Rogers.

Do we have any idea what formation we're going to be playing under the new gaffer?

He apparently played 433 in Sweden and a 343 in Denmark so doesn't seem to have a set formation.

3 up front seems consistent, that is a big change for us.

I wasn't commenting on the appointment - I think it sounds like a great fit. I was commenting on the comment.

Need to buy at least two wingers for that...

Or a couple of players who can 'play across the front three' unless Robinson has already signed them all.

Ok for a bit of fun here is my 3-4-3

Positives - pace on either side of a striker who can get goals, the negatives is the two wide players cannot in any way for me tackle and retreat when not on the attack. That means we would need to have defensive minded midfielders.
No Miller presumed here.

Oxborough

McGinn
Gordon
Balmer

Sparrow
McGhee
Slattery
Wilson

Robinson/Fadinger
Stama
Maswahine

Someone fix it for me if it's terrible and ignore the posts below!

Remain unconvinced but best I could do - not much creativity in midfield which looks weak and lightweight
Someone fix it for me!

The way he's been playing slattery would be the first midfielder in the team.
