With a clinical centre forward and sharper decision making across the team, several of those draws would already be wins. I’m still positive about JBA and the team in general, but I guess I just have to accept we’re stuck with a busted flush for another season at least. I dont think he has had a real run of games until this season. Last season he came in with no pre season, got injured twice then broke his wrist. We have what we have until January. If his record doesnt improve by then, I will maybe concede he needs moved on. Until then we need him to contribute until Hendry, Osong etc are fit enough to push him for a starting spot. Im happy enough that Maswanhise will get us enough goals to keep us out of trouble, but we need someone to lead the line and at the moment Stama is it. We do need to stop shipping gsoft goals though. Its great that we do that mostly by just keeping the ball, butnit would be great if we didnt concede pretty much every time we give away cheap possession! I actually thought our style of play of playing it our from the back would result in a few more silly goals but it hasn't. The goals we are losing has nothing to do with our style of playing out from the back it just rank bad defending and goalkeeping.

We have been very good at playing out from the back and as a bi-product, teams are getting very little of the ball to do anything with. Its just when they do, we arent defending our box very well. We have conceded 7 goals in the league and gifted 5 of those by not doing our jobs properly.

We have to negotiate it travelling to every home game. Blame the Scottish Government. Trust me, I know about it all too well.

Maybe not, but through Transport Scotland, it did design the surrounding infrastructure and serious questions about capacity and other related issues were raised at the time but these were ignored. Its a long story and not for this forum, but in short, the Queensferry Crossing was deemed to be a straight replacement for the Forth Road Bridge and in no way was it to increase capacity. Sorry, I digress from the Dundee game.

Happened infront of us that essentially closed a lane and a half due to the glass. Made us miss the first 5 mins and left the house at 1pm. A journey that normally takes 75mins took 2 hours.
sinjy
One worrying thing for me is that two managers, McInnes and Presley have changed things at half time and we have struggled. After the first round of games all managers will have had a close look at us. Let's hope JBA is able to adjust our way of playing if the opposition has sussed us out.

Thats a good point - I suspect many of the players are knackered by 60 mins we need strong subs to keep momentum or at least keep the ball - st the moment injuries are preventing us having the depth we need

It’s still early(ish) days but so far JBA hasn’t shown any evidence of good game management so far and you have just provided two clear examples of that. There is obviously time for him and us to sort that out and indeed he does have credit in the bank with the team playing some nice football (in the middle of the park mainly) but we have thrown away three consecutive wins from winning positions due to poor play at both ends and poor use of substitutions to try and ‘shut the game down’. I said this the other day, we might very well look back on our early games especially that Hearts-Kilmarnock-Dundee trio as a very, very big set of missed opportunities this season. The Hearts game I'd agree but even then they'd have lost if it wasn't for two glaring keeper errors. . Dundee not so much. Sure after the break Dundee had a 15 min spell where they dominated but we took control again and Manwanhise and AP should have scored after that slight Dundee resurgence. Dundee had no possession / attacks of note after that post half time 15 minute burst.

For me it’s not purely fitness - the energy and distance players are covering with the tempo we’re playing at is a different level to what we’ve been doing before . i could be wrong (and often am) . I think some of the players will be spent by 60-70 mins playing at this tempo , particularly the midfield and wingbacks that are covering a lot of ground . The likes of Liverpool and other big clubs took time to adopt to this style and also relied on a depth of squad

There's a world of difference fitness wise playing the way Kettlewell did and playing the way JBA does. FWIW, I actually think the players look way fitter this season than they did last year. But a high intensity press and playing out from the back the way we do takes a lot more energy than a low block.
