Sure confidence has been dented but the players are not running on or off the ball. The live wire Said has stopped smiling and everything seems flat. In flashes we have seen what they are capable off but overall theres a sniff of disinterest. Is the dressing room split? Jens obviously scared the shit out of players and they dared not do what was asked. By all accounts Alfred is different. So who is kicking backsides and demanding maximum effort. Is that whats missing and players like JT and Longelo are going threw the motions, stinking the place out and causing issues. We know we lack leadership on the park, but off it there is no excuses for someone not standing up to any nonsence. The board need to be having a look at what is going on. We all want Alfred to succeed but its getting harder for him by each passing game. Total guess but I wonder if JT and Longelo are causing unrest because they never got a move. Spitting dummy out wont get them a move. AJ I think needs to get ruthless or he will be out a job. Also mcginn and SOD need to be peacemaker if there is disharmony
mfc
That's us lost to teams managed by robinson, pressley and now mccann in a short space of time and the manager seems to have no answers,in fact were getting worse by the game.
Motherwellfc1991
Jens was an absolute find Alfred is the polar opposite . From the outside looking in he’s simply not got the personality and authority for the job or the league. Cut our losses and pay him off - we’ve wasted plenty money on other things this season so just add his appointment to the list All the hard work to get the feel good factor , club on the up, better attendances all brought to its knees with a guy out his depth arguably not helped by some shocking signings We dont have a single leader in that dressing room and don’t have a player who can tackle ,there is no balance

Motherwellfc1991
Well if Nick Daws was in anyway involved with signing Willie Vogts it’s more than a mention he should get

He needs to bring in a new defence. If it doesn't work then folk cant say problems weren't addressed. But yup..it is worrying . Agree Grizzly, worrying, but as people say a couple of wins and it’s top 6 again so I’ve said before on the game thread next 3 games, min 2 wins if it’s zero wins then as much as it’ll cost us to get AJ out I thk that would be the time as it’s clearly not working at the moment. MJC
Jens himself would have struggled to recreate anything like our best from last season even without losing Just, Welsh, Watt, Ward and Slattery. Teams had cottoned on to us by late last season and we were nowhere near as effective as we were from November-February bar Ibrox and Easter Road. Whoever came in faced a very difficult task to try and get us playing at the same standard we were last season and for that I don’t envy Alfred. But unfortunately he just doesn’t look like he knows what he is doing and his lack of coaching experience is showing. I just don’t see this ending well for him and us. Lobey_Dosser
I really dislike this period as a football fan. You know your manager isn’t cut out for the job, you possibly suspected it from day one, but you know the Board feel duty bound to give their appointment a little longer - which is arguably, fair. That inevitably leads to more disappointing performances, more points dropped and more ground to make up on those clubs above us. Hopefully, at the very least, the Board have started to think about AJ’s successor and lessons have been learned from the summer. How AJ got through an extensive interview process is beyond me.

I can see why we had a shot at him & he was always up against it regardless honestly think it’ll show the ambition of the club if we can act swiftly & go it’s not working maybe he wins a game & we go top 6…..it’s just papering over the obvious hope if we do bin him we’re brave enough to go leftfield again…..but get it right

So basically you are saying Askou couldn't have adapted and changed once teams thought they had sussed out our style of play. He has Toulouse currently sitting in 9th out of 18 teams having won 3-0 away from home yesterday. His team came back from 2-0 down away to Monaco (who are 2nd in the league) to get a 2-2 draw after he balled them out at halftime. A new country, a new league, a new style of play and he appears to be doing ok at the moment. Askou is a manager. Johansson is not.

I don’t think jens recreates the season he had last if he stays with us ( he still has a good season but not last years level ) good managers move at the right time 1 of the issue for me is this data model chat…. hearts for example have lost what we’ve lost ( if not better ) & managed to use the data model to replace well we’ve lost players & recruited without any obvious plan How have we got it so right last year & so wrong this year? I think you’re spot on . Within the next 5-7 games Alfred will have reached a similar amount of games time where the tenure ended for Steve Hammel Jim Gannon Hari Kampman id love to be wrong but there’s a lot of similarities to their tenure

Motherwell Daft
I think the majority of us are half full, but in all honesty we are getting worse every game and playing guys out of position is a gift for rank average opposition, Jens was an event many of won’t see again but Alfred is honestly like watching Hamnells shite that was served up, just hope Kyrk reads in hear and is investigating plan B

joewarkfanclub
Ultimately, there is no way the Executive Board are emptying Alfred this early. They have backed him heavily and have to give him time to try and get it right. If we get into December and are cut adrift at the bottom then there is a conversation to be had before tge January window. These are his players and he/they will be given every opportunity to turn it around. Apart from anything else, if we get back to having a reputation of showing managers absolutely no patience, it thens becomes difficult to recruit anyone decent in the future. There are clearly huge doubts hanging over him right now, but I dont think its a total lost cause, as there were flickers of hope in that first half today. Individual errors are absolutely killing us right now. The players have to take some responsibility for that. But Alfred also has to provide tge best platform for them to be able to play their football. Its gonna be a long week......
