We are mathematically safe from automatic relegation, and if Killie don't win tonight we will be safe from the playoff spot as well

Apart from the the ugly sisters and their Edinburgh cousins the number of away fans turning up at Fir park is poor seems to be the dedicated hard-core supporters who will always turn up. Making all matches available on PPV is going to decrease those numbers even further, how many Aberdeen, Ross county ,Dundee untd fans etc are going to travel to Fir park on a freezing wet midweek night or weekend to see the game? Given the option of paying £12 instead of £20 plus travel costs, food etc its a no brainer, they will stay at home. The live streaming was a sensible option for this season given the circumstances, but long term it will discourage fans from attending matches and clubs will suffer. In my opinion there is already too much football on TV, but the SFA/ SPFL and clubs have sold their souls to Sky and the other broadcasters in search of more and more cash to a point where its now the broadcasters deciding when games get played, not for the clubs or fans benefit but to meet their schedules. We have already seen this week the greed of the so called elite clubs and their owners to create a closed shop and try to get more cash from the TV companies with no thought for the fans. Live broadcasts and streaming of games has to be available in the modern game, clubs need the money, but they need to get the balance right or what we have seen this season might become the norm,

Agreed, would love us to pump them 5 or 6 nil as a bit of payback for the previous 3 games, but would settle for not losing, or an O'Donnell 35 yard special in injury time to win it.

You can have a direct comparison on things like stadiums, facilities , pitches etc and they are all better in every respect. As for the players its a bit more difficult, today's players are faster, fitter, better prepared and coached than the 70's players, they train harder etc so in that respect they are better. However you can't compare like for like re individual ability as the game has changed so much since then, we all like to think that when we saw the like of Wark, Pettigrew etc play for Motherwell they were great, and at the time they were but they can't be compared with today's players as the game has changed so much. So having started watching Motherwell in the late 60's early 70's I would have to say sometimes going to Fir Park or an away ground was a pretty miserable experience , in terms of facilities and the football on offer. Today's match day experience is light years away from that, we still get a good amount of miserable afternoons football wise, but at least we are comfier watching it.

Simpler times.... dangerous unsafe grounds, no concept of customer service, non existent or appalling facilities, people bringing in carry outs aka weapons when empty, paying money to stand in the pushing rain for 90 mins, In this case things needed to change and they were very much for the better, all this "Football was better in the good old days" chat is nonsense.

Mid table English championship is still a decent level, re quality of football and financially.

I see the BBC gossip page allegedly has Luton Town interested in signing Allan Campbell. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56804914

Spot on, there are only 2 clubs in the premiership who are ever going to win it, of the other 10 there are possibly 4 or 5, Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, Motherwell, St J and Dundee untd, who will fight for a top 6 place and European qualification. The rest will be fighting relegation and hoping for an unlikely cup win. This has been a poor season for us, but in reality we missed a top 6 spot by a couple of defeats, so for me as a fan, a top 6 finish a decent cup run and a bid for a Euro spot would constitute a great season.

I was referring to the form we were in off the back of the Accies and StJ shitfests we went there and nobody expected us to get anything other than a defeat. But we turned up with the right attitude and application and got a result, we need the same again.
-
We were just as bad when we went there and won 2-0 , so it depends on what Motherwell team turns up on the day, if its the committed, in the hib s faces right from the off team, we are more than capable of winning, Hibs are an average side having a decent season nothing more.

The playoff final is not a good game to judge Barraclough or the team we had then on, we were up against a Rangers team that were utter dross and the 6-1 aggregate win confirmed that fact.
-
Lucky teams win cups, and in the context of Scotland that usually means the rare seasons that both ugly sisters have went out in earlier round. We have made 4 finals since 91 which I think is a decent record for a club our size. 2005 LC Rangers 2017 LC Celtic 2011 SC Celtic 2017 SC Celtic So no easy Diddy teams in the final for us, occasionally a team will have a good result and beat Celtic or Rangers in a semi final as we did in 91 but it is very rare for both of the ugly sisters to be out before the semi finals. So would the likes of StM or StJ have won had they been playing Rangers or Celtic, probably not.
-
Hibs cruising past Stranraer currently 4-0, looks like a tough ask to get past them in the QF's but we have gone to Easter Rd and beaten them recently so it is not impossible.

As a short time signing , for me yes, not so sure long term, I said in January he was what we were looking for, big target man who knows where the goals are, given his reputation as difficult to manage, maybe Tommy Wright knows how to handle him.
-
He mentioned it on the pre match chat before the game last night, think it was recorded at the normal press conference on Thursday.

I agree re the summer rebuild but we have max of 7 games left this season if we get to the cup final, but in reality probably only 5, so we need to find a balance to get a midfield line up that works and give us a decent end to the season. If GA is sticking with his preferred 433 I would have Campbell, McGuire and Hastie in there , and see how that pans out.
-
We have had an issue with midfield for years and successive managers have failed to address it, a 4-3-3 formation will work but you need midfielders who can win the ball, hold up the play and offer an extra attacking threat going forward, oh to have Turnbull back. For me brining in 1 or 2 good midfield players is the main issue that needs to be addressed in the summer .
-
Think Watt is still getting about on crutches Dave, so he won't be fit, and I suspect Roberts is out for the season, so we are a bit short on options up front, I would go with Cole, Long and Hastie up front against Accies, as Lawless was pretty ineffectual tonight.
-
Pish what did Morton do to deserve the win, both teams were utter dross, 1 save for each keeper in 123 mins. Shit refereeing denied us a stonewall pen, Long hit the post, Hastie and Cole both had decent chances and should have scored, whereas Morton had 1 decent chance in normal time and we gifted them an equaliser. So on balance we had the better chances our keeper was very rarely troubled so yes we did deserve to win, onwards to the QF's
-
Do the pens count for your bet on Motherwell scoring more than 2
-
Stop feckin whinging, it's a cup game main objective met, we won , total dugshite for 119 mins, but all that matters is we are in the quarter finals. We were pish against morton 30 years ago and look how that cup run turned out, coyw
-
Yaaaaas get in there
-
Nothing good ever comes from betting on Motherwell ,hope it comes in though
-
Aye, been there as well, we used to sing a nice wee song about section B w... w... w... never had any entertainment like that with the wee fuds that pass for Accies fans.
