I dont know why we are discussing this , as our next manager is living in plain sight on these very forums. Step forward ON THE FRINGES , he has all the answers , he's a tactical wizard, has inside info straight from the dressing room . The press conferences would be hilarious , he would blind the journos with big words and word salad answers. I have heard that Fergie used to phone him for advice. No not Sir Alex but the now deceased Hamilton accies jakeball. Or we could go for Mike Bassett. No difference I suppose .5 points

Yeah because having a manager who ‘loves’ Rangers is the worst thing we could have right now eh? It’s not as if we’ve ever done okay with ex Rangers players as managers in the past or anything. You know like an ex-Rangers player overseeing a Scottish Cup win or another ex-Rangers player taking us from the brink of extinction to top six and a League Cup Final? Or yet another one guiding us to 3rd, 2nd and 2nd again? Nah, lets not get anyone in who has a previous connection with Rangers. ”Announce Lennon!”3 points

Hardly a word salad by your standards. A braidhurst education means I have a limited vocabulary. Jealous! Far from it , I've got nothing to be jealous of. Bent out of shape , at my age I wake up every morning like that. Yes I know you and have done for a number of years now , I used to think you were a decent bloke until I started reading some of your posts on this forum and the way you dismiss peoples opinions because they dont agree with yours . I now think you're just a pratt that thinks he is better than everyone else. Forums are about peoples opinions.3 points

Surely not Ian McCall ….. please god no. Odious little Rangers loving nyaff2 points

This isnt really miles away from what exists currently, save adding a director of football. Separating administrative functions and football functions is fine, but since there are currently already departments with their own heads under the CEO, we aren't miles away from that either. I like the DoF model though, as long as we don't get a shite one. Our current board has more years of business expertise than some of us have years full stop. It's a group of volunteers, and you can't force folk to volunteer, but would be happy to add someone else to the current group, especially some younger folk. Not sure about the steering group. If we need another group to monitor what the board does, then we have the wrong board.2 points

I was a gk, only played at amateur level, but for a gk more than any other position confidence in yourself and your defenders is essential. So much of goalkeeping is split second decision making and reflexes. When your confidence is low and your mind is not clear you start overthinking and second guessing leading to the sort of mistakes that Liam is now making. I've never understood making a gk captain for that reason. I wouldn't drop him, but I would move the captaincy to an outfield player, only one game I know but Butcher looked capable of that role2 points

Evident to me that to move forward the club needs a complete restructure. From what I am told from those who work there , it is rudderless and has been for some time, lacks direction in both the wider footballing and administrative sense and is full of staff ready to jump ship across the board which we have seen already My suggestion would be to: Board Increase the current board to include 2 additional non exec business heads (with at least 10yrs business experience and not ideally fans to complement the chairman Three appointed directors A well society rep from a newly formed MFC shareholder steering group This board must hold accountable two newly formed roles General manager (accountable for all administrative and commercial roles inc hospitality Head of football development ( oversee head of scouting and responsible for footballing contracts and recruitment across the football departments) Steering group This group should take action and ask questions directly each month to the two above positions along with the commercial manager, first team manager and stadium manager at monthly meetings. These questions should come from a fan representative A member of well society 2 experienced business figures 2 experienced football professionals ie ex player/manager/coach etc A board member Answers and findings should then be presented to the board of directors to action Overhaul revamp Scouting geographical network of Scouts covering Scotland ie Aberdeen/south Lanarkshire /dumfries and Galloway/Ayrshire This should be headed up by head of recruitment who should oversee this network and feed back findings and suggestions on players to the newly formed head of football development post The club clearly needs a distinction in flows current role and altho he’s responsible for both areas of the club it’s clear that it’s too big a role for 1 person to do efficiently I have many many other suggestions but I’m not sure anyone outwith Jim McMahon would be interested in listening to 😂 Needless to say I think the whole club needs restructured with a clear 5-10yr vision that we work back from to achieve. Every member of staff in the whole club should be included in understanding their role in achieving this vision and should be held accountable within their own developmental and departmental meetings A focus on income generation across the board should always be the primary focus and vastly reducing our overheads within both the footballing and operational departments for me is key over the next 12 months without compromising ongoing investment2 points

I know it's 3 days away but can I ask everyone going on wed that we get right behind the team and create a great atmosphere? Yes some of those wage stealers don't deserve it but the xi that start need us behind them and not getting nervy after 10 mins. The only way we are going to get out of this is by gathering momentum and all being together. I dont think kettlewell is the answer but by jeez we need him to get us a positive result so he deserves our support for even just one game. COYW2 points

My last words on the Hammell era as its time to move on. Many of us had doubts when he was appointed as a rookie manager, and unfortunately they were realised. The directors also need to review their own decisons over the past year or so, but in a positive way. Maybe changes in governance are required? Stevie Hammell should have been relieved of his duties over a month ago but the directors dithered and delayed and we've effectively lost 5 weeks in our relegation battle. The toxic atmosphere yesterday was entirely avoidable as El Grew suggested a week or so ago. Anyway we now have Stuart Kettlewell in charge temporarily. I hope we now headhunt a new manager and get the right man in quickly, although that won't be easy. The players too need to step up as well. We, the fans, must do our bit and get behind the club and team. I'd make a plea to get behind the players, especially the younger ones who need encouragement. As others have said a lot of soul searching now required throughout the club, but we move on. COYW.1 point

If we wanted McCall I doubt Thistle would have sacked him and missed out on potential compensation. That’s what I hope anyway.1 point

I’m of the same opinion. I want to donate I actually want to donate more money and time to my club in general if the society is imperative to our survival then the foundations and operations of it need looked at urgently as well1 point

Was suggested on BBC radio Scotland earlier Lambert with Faddy as assistant. Yep that would do for me. Can't see it though1 point

Davies seems to fall out with every cub he works for. To quote his wiki entry; In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he's a regular poster on here.1 point

The bit I can't really get my head round is, if you look back to when Hammy was given the job and we went up to play the sheep. We played great attacking football, all the players were looking to play the ball forward early and even the midfield, like Slattery, were getting into positions in the opposing box. That lasted two or three weeks before we went back to Alexander style of stop, wait, play the ball back, no off the ball movement and a general turgid approach, leading to few if any chances being created. At the start, I really thought he was going to give us an attacking side in the style of McGhee Mk 1.1 point

Wonder if flow will be recruiting from the same list that he’s apparently looking through at the moment for the Aberdeen post while in post at Motherwell 🤬1 point

There's a lot being said about what a new manager should be (including from me), but how about we talk about the absolute wage thieves in the squad? I say that with the caveat that some are just fucking shite and that's not their fault, but several others need to stand up or fuck off.1 point

I’d be amazed if both Goodwin and Ross are not shortlisted, I’d be amazed if Lambert is. If I had a choice I would go for Ross who does have a good win percentage of near 50 percent and has had success in both the first division and championship. He got Alloa promoted as he did with St Mirren. He also got Sunderland to the play off finals and was sacked with them in 6th. Hibs could have given him longer, Dundee United was a disaster but that’s Dundee United.1 point

The tone was set for this season when we released that ‘Classic throwback’ kit.1 point

kettlewell on BBC radio scotland today at the dundee cove game i would have had the bastards in at 8 this morn fuckin running till they spewed1 point

Jack Ross performed a miracle in keeping St Mirren in Championship, (they were miles adrift when he took over), preventing back to back relegations, before bringing them back up. Dundee Utd was a strange one though, but I wouldn't dismiss him1 point

Kelly knows he’s been shite, but he’s been a great keeper for us over the piece. I would not drop him as he will return to form and he is a sellable asset. I do agree that giving the captaincy to a new and vocal outfield enforcer may be a good idea.1 point

Spot on, they are 2 managers with recent experience of the league we're in I'd rather have them in than the likes of Lambert who's been out of management for years and knows feck all about the current Scottish game.1 point

Ideally someone who can save our ass and be progressive the following season. We shouldn't be content just to trundle along like the likes of Accies did during their time in the Prem because ultimately trundling doesn't sustain. We've been a progressive club before and can be again. COYW1 point

I'd give it to Goss and Slattery with the understanding that they cannot pick themselves.1 point

Sometimes managers just have a bad move. Their record at other clubs was decent. Motherwell could be a better fit but who knows1 point

I think anyone suggesting Jack Ross or Jim Goodwin is off their head. Two managers who this season have lost their respective dressing rooms. We need someone who will command respect and make an instant impact. Easier said than done, I know.1 point

"Things are changing" at the club, if Kettlewell says "I'll try something new" then on "reflection" we might keep in "Touch" with the pack, otherwise it will be "nothing but heartaches" I thank you1 point

Aye, and you’ve cut right to the heart of the problem. I don’t subscribe to the theory (admittedly held by many) that the players “downed tools” on Hammell. Although as the chairman alluded to in his statement of yesterday evening, there were a number of factors that led to Hammell’s demise, I believe that there were essentially two main ones that led to this whole sorry business:- 1. I believe most of the players at the club at present have been trying. But, the simple truth is, that they are just very poor footballers. Anybody who seriously thinks that this rag and bobtail bunch have the capability of “turning it on and off” when it suits them is greatly deluded. 2. Some managers have the skill set required to organise, motivate and squeeze a bit of improvement out of such footballers. However, we had a rookie manager in his first job who patently lacked such a skill set and was incapable of learning and acquiring it. I think when these two factors are put together, it’s not hard to see and understand how we have gotten to where we are. The Board must now try to ensure that whoever they appoint next has the desire and ability to coach, organise and motivate poor quality players and begin rebuilding through gradually improving the quality of players at the club. The last manager we had who was able to do that was Tommy McLean and that is now almost 30 years ago!1 point

As I mentioned previously even in my short time supporting the club I’ve noticed a decline in the quality of players signed and even those we had six years ago took some stick, that has to be the starting point. In my opinion Martin Foyle was a better judge of a potential player even at our budget level. With the quality of players we have now we need a manager that can work with players of a lower technical ability, keep it simple, stick with the same formation, and concentrate on fitness and organisation, everyone playing in their dedicated position if possible and knowing what’s expected of them, as with the National league down south that alone will see us picking up points. We are never going to have a huge budget but even with our crowds with the right appointments will can survive.1 point

I'm sure by "factors" they mean injuries, getting signings in, the mess Alexander left, the world cup, burrows leaving, players being bad, manager and assistant not being good, board being slow, etc.1 point
-
Whatever the factors are,it would suggest they have been going on for a while,so it begs the question why give hammell the whole of january to bring players in when it's clear to most of us that he should have been sacked weeks ago.1 point

We lost him, McKinnon, and Alex Burns when the first bosmans happened. We were all a bit pissed about it, but I can't remember anything being directed at the players. The chat a few years later was that Lambert and McKinnon would have stayed if they had got a modest pay raise. Man, what a team that was. Some of the stuff between Coyne, Davies and Lambert was magic.1 point

I would think both Goodwin and Ross would be in the picture, If either are appointed it would probably be better to see it as a long term project and retain them even if we go down.1 point

If they give the job to Kettlewell, the cycle will repeat itself. These shitehawk players need an experienced manager to remind them who’s in charge.1 point
