  1. Thanks to Philip and Jay yesterday. I attended the morning Zoom meeting. Its fair to say that the Society had stagnated in recent years. It seems the recent elections have rejuvenated the Board and there's now a wind of change. blowing. I have new found confidence that the Society Board can come up with a workable proposal but it will need members' backing and assistance.

  2. Fans basically know fuck all about football. Supporting a team is 95% emotion 5% rational constructive thought. Wherever there is emotion there is irrational thought . It was the same when Vale signed, fans couldn't wait to put his Wiki stats up and moan like fuck that he was useless.

  3. Could you imagine what the forum would be like now if we'd signed him on a one year deal ? 😁 The usual suspects would be giving it large about kettlewell, The interim CEO and the groundman being out of their depth, clueless and being unable to spot potential in players 😄

  5. It's crazy to think that when he signed we r now thinking where would we b without him! The injuries to the other strikers have been a blessing in disguise because he has had that drive to improve knowing he can put it in action during game time. Been some season attacking wise having 3 decent young strikers to watch considering we only had KVV previously. Vale has been a great and clever replacement for Biereth as similar in work rate and style that suits Bair. Bair deserves a new contract and hopefully an extended one to also protect our investment. KVV had a one off wonder season where as Bair is young and should only keep getting better which is exciting in itself.

  6. When we went into administration and were trying to get as much money into the club as possible. We arranged a game with Chievo (they were here to play Dundee in a friendly and agreed to play us too without any charges) Does Nevin feel any guilt or regret, as our CEO at the time, to take on a punditry gig with sky on the same night as the chievo game and not attend fir park. Can he see that maybe, just maybe, the fans saw this as someone who really didn’t give a shit.

  7. Yes, I'd offer him an extra year. I doubt if he'd accept 2. No doubt the predators have already been alerted. My kind of player. Skillful, fast but physical enough to hold his own against big defenders. Not in any way dirty. He's certainly won over the fans and rightly so.

  8. When it comes to the online representatives of the uglies, the question often is, which school did you not go to?

  9. Growing up as a 'Well fan in Cumbernauld was the same. My Faither told me when they ask what school you go to, just say when I was wee, I went to the wee school, then when I was big, I went to the big school

  10. I reckon MJC (his new name) is just a troll who tries to wind up everyone on here. Best thing to do is just ignore his posts, and don't respond to them. I certainly do.

  11. Sorry that is just not true. EVERY football club in Scotland has passionate and loyal supporters. Hearts being from a large City and being fairly successful just have more of them than say Partick, Kilmarnock, Motherwell etc etc etc. In the same way that the Old Firm have more fans than Hearts. Even that pair have passionate and loyal fans amongst their numbers. And that will be the same Hearts fans that were booing the team and Naismith all match long not that long ago. And in no small numbers.

  16. Any Motherwell Manager who has us better than 9th, has the team playing for them and has some form of long term plan should be considered a good manager. Played 51 games under SK now win rate is 40% draw 30% losses 30% Fair to say most if not all Motherwell mgrs will lose 1/3 of games over their tenure. Appreciate we had a very poor run but no different to many other recent mgrs. Hammell, Alexander, Robinson, McGhee. I'm a firm believer that we need to get back to having stability with managers with a long term plan who we stick with, avoiding knee jerk decisions.

  17. I’m delighted that Kettlewell is the one that gets the biggest of monkey’s off our backs and secures his place in Motherwell history. In some respects, today didn’t come as a huge surprise to me as Kettlewell has shown time and time again that he can set up a team to compete with Rangers and Celtic and today he got his just rewards. The fact we’ve done it against an ‘in-form’ and slightly cocky Rangers makes it all the sweeter. He’s not had his challenges to seek this season and having battled his way through the budget constraints, the injuries, the loan-recalls and the off-field uncertainty, I get the impression that he could go on to do well at a higher level. Whilst he came in for understandable criticism between Oct-Dec, the players never looked like chucking it. I think that speaks volumes for his credentials and I think that run itself will stand him in good stead for the future. In the meantime, he and his players have delivered the result I’ve wanted more than any other over the last 20 years.

  18. II know this thread was introduced to discuss possible inward investment but clearly those discussions have highlighted the role and importance of the Society. Club and Society are separate entities, but intertwined. And I write this as someone who was invested in the Society from day one, and really wanted it to be a success. So I think the above is extremely relevant. What is the exact role of the Society and who determines what path they follow? The answers were obvious at one time but now I am not so sure. Does the Society exist to provide short term assistance to the Football Club, and the Football Club alone? Or did it become a tool of the MFC Board, providing permanent finance to not only the Football Club, but also other non core activities? As an example, and tin hat on, what are these 'special projects' for which we were told substantial Society funds were used? Finance for core Club activities or worthwhile causes such as the Community Trust. And before I get slaughtered, I'm not saying the Club should not support the Community. But I am saying that was not the intended role of the Society. The football club and the Society must concentrate on their reason for existing, particularly in such difficult economic times. To quote some figures. I believe that in it's time the Society has raised over £2m from Members which is commendable. But of that sum, around £1.2m has gone, permanently. Fans donated to the Society with the agreement that Society funds would be provided to the Club in times of need but on a short term loan basis only. The funds to be repaid to the Society as soon as possible from transfer income, league pay outs and the like. The intention being that within 3 years the Club would be operating within its means and that Society funds would grow and be protected at all times. That has just not happened which asks questions of those running both the Society and the Club. Who took those decisions and under what pressure? Now I get that what I have highlighted is history and we need to move on. We are where we are kind of thing. I have no doubt the new Society Board Members are striving to improve matters and return the Society to how it was intended to operate. The meetings currently taking place are a good start. Anybody standing in the way of that rebrand should not hold sway. For me to invest further in the Society, and ultimately the Club, I need to be convinced that those changes are taking place and are permanent. I need to see a long term vision which is sustainable. Otherwise circumstances will repeat themselves. I'm away to hide behind the settee now, tin hat on. With fingers crossed that a miracle takes place at Ibrox in a few hours.
