  1. Sensational. Wimmer has the ‘Well playing actual football. Win, lose, or draw today, that first half was brilliant to watch.

  2. Such a fkn weird club, surely they’re “normal” fans …. There must be some..,, must cringe at this? I wonder how much in tax should have been paid but wasn’t in the EBt years. That money might have helped swell the coffers of a depleted few regiments.

  3. Had SK not resigned it was a definite possibility.

  4. so do you think had SK stayed he would have stopped the rot? I know its conjecture but what I know is ive seen more entertainment in 3 games than i saw with SKs team in 6 months . Had he not resigned I would have sacked him.

  5. When i was driving home before the game, Radio Scotland were full of how they were going to win and win comfortably today after the big comeback against Killie. Whoever was speaking was saying people were underestimating the effect Ferguson would have on them. 'He won't stand for any nonesense' was used a couple of times. get it right up them. C**ts !!!

  9. Im waiting for the lurkers who say fuck all when we are in freefall, wait till its safe, then accuse every one else of being panty wetters. Mind you tonight anyone can call me anything they like nowt will diminish my pleasure of us turning them over . I detest the OF with a passion that will never be surpassed

  11. Having a manager whose sole tactic isn’t let the opposition have as much possession as they like and hope for a break here and there is certainly refreshing.

  14. My Dad originally was a bluenose before being converted by me , but my uncle had been going to see Well since the 1950s , and my cousin since the 1980s which helped things of course Remember thinking I wish I stayed in Motherwell at that time , and eventually I did when I met my now wife , who has a family connection to Bobby Graham

  15. Have to disagree. We were in total freefall with confidence shot. SK had had plenty of opportunities to change things up but either would not or could not. Those last 5 away matches were poorer than anything I can remember in years. Even the better players looked at a loss. It was that refusal to adapt that convinced me we were headed for the play off spot at best. And then it's a lottery. Just compare our approach today with our approach in the Semi Final. What Wimmer has brought out tactically and energy wise on the pitch coupled with the raised spirit in the Stands in his three matches only highlights what SK was unable to achieve. The support the fans gave the team when Dundee equalised was highlighted by both Manager and players. Early days and we need to remember that. But what a difference. The players certainly appear to appreciate the change.

  18. Absolutely. Coaches from the continent also tend to do more training with ball-at-feet, so hoping to see even more football in the coming weeks. In his first interview he said one of the things that made him a good match for the club was being data driven. I doubt they had much of that at Alloa.

  19. Slattery for me has been back to top form and really enjoying his current role. In the Dundee game he was in their faces literally right from kick off and was at it again today. Plus he can play a bit of football too. It's also two games in a row where he hasn't been booked. And this idea Wimmer has of playing two number tens is really making a difference.

  20. And he already tweaked the approach with a deeper press to catch a breather every now and then. An actual Plan B. Of course winning the Dundee game was a big help, because players are never sure about new tactics unless they see results.

  21. Lots of really good performances today. It would be easy to make a case for pretty much anyone. However, Im gonna go for Andy Halliday. He hasnt been my favourite player since he signed. Last season he was well off the pace and under Kettlewell it looked as if his legs wouldnt carry him at this level anymore. However, under Wimmer he has been a man re-born and today was his best performance in a Motherwell jersey by a country mile. I dont care if he can only give us 60 minutes every week as long as they are 60 minutes of quality like that.

  23. The gaffer says he is delighted to have 14 days to make things better... If he can do 50% of what he wants it is going to be a fecking revelation. Going to Ibrox and not parking the bus. Who would have thought!

  26. I can't find it now, but there was a quote on the BBC website about how the man who coached in the Bundesliga and top Austrian league had out-thought the man whose coaching experience is the Scottish 2nd Division. That pretty much sums it up.

  32. Genuinely hard to pick, full team deserve credit. 2 games on the bounce where Halliday looks like a football player. Has to go to the wee Spara though.

  40. Still early doors this game as we seen in midweek with killie, early doors in wimmers management post but by fuck in the short team the staff have had the team set up,tactics and shape and balance of team is remarkable, here's hoping we don't throw it away and benefit from the break and more coaching on the training ground and maybe ap back to see how wimmet fits him in to the team and show what he can offer.

  46. He'll probably think "Why are they celebrating Armed Forces Day today when its official date is 28th June. Must be idiots running this club" (but in German).

  47. I took a look at the rules, and it's a bit more complicated than that. Clubs are allowed to amortize an incoming transfer fee over 5 years. As youth players are considered to be "free" any profit from their sale is regarded as pure profit. That means Mika's £4 million fee can be offset against £20 million worth of incoming transfers - £4 million a year over five years. So it might not be a huge number, but still means those academy players are worth 5 times more than than their transfer fee to a club. Of course, from a footballing perspective, it looks like it was a terrible idea and Arsenal played themselves out of the title race by having no available strikers. A quick look at the Arsenal fans' opinions and they couldn't believe he was ever sold.

  48. My auld man made sure I was going to be a Motherwell fan before I had a choice. Got dragged to my first game about 3 or 4 years old and had my first strip about 5, when replicas were a bit harder to come by. Never really had to opportunity to thank him properly for it, but we did get to celebrate the 91 Cup win together, so will always be grateful for that. Its funny how supporting a club gets under your skin. I live in Ayrshire now and, whilst I do have a passing affection for both Kilmarnock and Ayr, if Motherwell folded tomorrow, I couldnt ever feel the same way about supporting either of them. Anyway, Up The 'Well! Intae these mutant zombie barstewards! 😆

  49. One thing that attracted me to Motherwell as a young kid was the Claret and Amber colours , and also seeing the Club badge on TV which I thought looked so cool Remember a game on Sportscene and if memory is correct was against today's opponents, I must have been about 5-6 years old at the time and thinking I like those colours , I want to support them
