I’m glad Archie McPherson is only commenting for one week on sportscene, it’s a brutal listen. It’s like sitting next to one of the old codgers in the main stand.2 points

Yep, Montrose 4-1 at Fir park. I was at that game and I believe his hat trick was in approx the last 15 mins of the game. also, if my memory is correct, his first appearance for Motherwell was versus Tranmere Rovers in a pre season friendly at fir park and Joe ended up being the goalie!2 points

I think ONeill is fine, he is what he is. He’s just a bit of a simpleton and a bit of a bigot but that just comes from being a product of his environment. i think he genuinely loved Motherwell and our fans.2 points

Can see your thinking there regards numbers. Just in terms of centre backs, if we move Balmer on (as we're rumoured to be trying to, notable we didn't bring him on and shunt O'Donnell to RB today when Koutroumbis went off), then we'll have moved on three (Casey, Blaney and Balmer) and brought none in. Even allowing for the fact we've gone from playing three centre backs to two, that doesn't sound viable. In terms of goalkeepers, most clubs like to have at least three available. Connolly is away til January at the very least so I reckon you might see something happening there...1 point

Yeah, ramblings of a bewildered OAP. I was waiting for some comments from him about how if we were an independent country that we’d lose all our pensions.1 point

"We kept the ball ever so well and won it back quickly when we did lose it" That was the most impressive aspect of our game.1 point

We are not far away. Totally dominant today. Final ball was poor but I'll tell you this this Motherwell team are infinitely more watchable that the shite we watched under Alexander , Hammel and Kettlewell. I enjoyed the game again today , a goal would have rounded off a controlled professional performance. SOD had a fine game and I'll be interested to see the handball again that wasnt given. St Mirren really are a shower of dirty bastards..1 point

Watt mentioned in his "official" interview last week that every club he has been with since he was at Wolves has tried to play this style, so he feels very comfortable with it. It certainly looks that way.1 point

Thought Koutroumbis was having ga very good game until he got injured. Said and Longelo are gonna be fun to watch all season. Whole midfield was great and could have given it to Fadinger, but I went for Watt. He has surprised me by how composed he is on the ball. Always available and just moves it on effortlessly. Very tidy player and very important to the way we are trying to play.1 point

Well we’re two league games in and unbeaten, which when you take into account that the two games were against Rangers at home and then St.Mirren in Paisley then it’s pretty decent. We need to improve in certain areas though otherwise we’ll not be winning many games but there is still time in this window to do something about that.1 point

Positives- clean sheet away from home, and 67% possession Negatives - we need more central striking options. Also positive - unbeaten start to the league after 2 tough fixtures.1 point

First half was the better of the two . We didn’t create many chances and the word ‘powderpuff ‘ is fair . thought we were poor second half and don’t have any bench strength to change it . fadinger in the defensive mid role gives the protection that’s been missing for some time . Thought he was excellent1 point

I have no doubt JBA will bring in a couple more strikers before the window closes. On the plus side, the early season has shown how well we can cope without Miller.1 point

The "best midfield outside of Celtic" working hard to maintain their 30% possession in the first half. Still needing a striker or two though.1 point

Biggest positive so far is we haven't been dragged down to their level. Still sticking to the plan.1 point

Centre defence scares me. Balmer obviously out picture. Surprised Stama on bench but with the buddies thugs he would have been cemented within minutes1 point

Can see us conceding from a header today. Need to score a few to get anything i think.1 point

I've been around too long to contribute to an all time team. I notice none of the 'older' posters seem to have included Vic Davidson, who I reckon must be one of the best footballers I've ever seen. Left backs, we've had Wark, Mckinnon and (unfortunately) Boyd......the Hammels and the McMillan's of the world couldn't have touched these three. There's just too many to make a 'team' out of, without leaving great players out.1 point

2 goals narrowly ruled out in his first handful of games, it could have been different.1 point

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of or seen Colin O’Neill so blatantly disrespect us in the way Boyd has, but anyway. For me it would be… Dijkstra Corrigan..Martin..Nijholt..McKinnon O’Donnell..Lambert..Cooper McFadden Higdon..Coyne1 point

October 1989 and Yinited are wearing the strip they would wear in the Cup Final against us nearly 2 years later! That and the majority of players son show were also still involved! Changed days!1 point

I'm late to the party so I won't say much as it's probably all been covered but.... 1 lose in the last 5 league matches against Rangers. Gotta be our best run since the 1990s and long may it continue.1 point
