  5. We thoroughly deserved our win yesterday and I enjoyed it apart from the first 20 minutes or so when we were caught a bit cold by Killie's tactics. Over the piece though we played some lovely football and scored well worked goals. Our leading cushion allowed JBA to practice more rotation and bring on Thor, Luca Ross and young Rocco McColm, none of whom disappointed. Very early days but Thor looks as if he'll fit well into our system. A real team performance but I thought that Just, Sparrow and Fadinger and Priestman stood out just a little bit more. The latter was my MOTM for his constant movement and making himself available. Whilst individuals are important of course its really good to see a successful system in which rotation makes minimal difference. In past seasons if one or two star players were injured, the whole system was compromised. The one down side for me was Killie's style. Outwith our control of course, but it left a bad taste. Going out to deliberately injure opponents is not for me. I can just about thole Alexanderball and Kettleball but McCannball is not for me. That and extreme pettiness reflects badly on them. One example of that was when there were 2 balls on the pitch and the ref allowed us to take a quick free kick; the Killie player could easily have tapped the redundant ball out of play but instead chose to kick it into the middle of the action area causing play to stop. That and a total unwillingness to retreat 10 yards at free kicks. Thats down to weak refereeing and questionable management from Neil McCann. All that shouldn't detract from a good performance, big win and large home crowd. Its great to be a Dosser these days.

  7. Our transfer Windows are usually more miss than hit but our summer 2025 transfer window must be by far and away our best one ever. Considering that also included our new manager coming in who has been nothing short of exceptional and Wimmer's one and only signing also being superb it's hard to think how it can be beaten. To think we also managed to make our biggest ever sale and replace with a few players now worth over a £million in the squad it genuinely beggars belief how good that window has turned out to be. It should turn out to be genuinely transformational for our club and stand us in good stead for years to come. The board also deserve massive credit for this. Must be in contention for not just our but possibly even the league's best transfer window by a club?

  8. Things are really hotting up at the top of the table. Motherwell are now in a group of 4. Interesting article on the BBC Sport page today about points v performance, the takeaway being that Hearts and Rangers have more points than their underlying stats (performance) would suggest and Motherwell are roughly where we should be on points. I think most of us would instinctively agree that was the case. Rangers have benefited from a good few 50/50 decisions (have not seen today's penalty decision v Dundee). Hearts as Orinoco says above have been resilient and clinical with set plays. Motherwell have been as good as the teams above. We have Rangers looming on the horizon at Firpark. If (big if) we can go into that game with another couple of wins under our belt, then it becomes a massive game for us. Given a level playing field in that game (and I am not talking about the condition of the pitch) we should have nothing to fear. Very interesting times.

  9. Agree 100%. I'm surprised at comments suggesting it was harsh, well maybe not in terms of the BBC. I watched the highlights over a can of Hazy Janes and to me it seems like a top end yellow, just short of a straight red. He goes in studs up with the sole intention of doing Slatts and catches him on on the lower shin. It isn't careless, uncontrolled or reckless; its deliberate and he knew it, as does McCann.

  12. Agree that he’s Celtics player to dictate situation however either this means SW is back with us mon or Tuesday at latest or confirms suspicion that MON’s loveable grandpa act is just that and he’s screwing both us and Welsh over.

  17. I agree about about Bjorgolfsonn. He'll be a handful for defences with his height and physicality and offers us something different. I read somewhere that he's not a 30 yard screamer type of striker but rather one who can make space and lay the ball off for others but is also dangerous in and about the goal area and knows where the net is. I suspect his assist yesterday for Fadinger will be typical of his style. Agree too about young McColm. Great to see another youngster get his chance and he was very lively and comfortable when he came on.

  18. Thought we struggled the first 20 minutes. Killie did well to disrupt our patterns of play and were very physical. However, we eventually figured them out and had wrestled back control by the time we scored the first goal. The boy Lowery is a little unlucky with the red card. Both are probably justifiable yellows on their own, but you expect the referee to give him the last chance waggy finger on the second. No sympathy for McCann though as he had clearly instructed hisnplayers to be leaving a little bit on tackles and several other Killie players got away with worse challenges than Lowery. After that it was one way traffic and 4-0 didnt flatter us at all. Some lovely football and interplay. Bjorgolfsonn looked good when he came on and it was interesting to see Jens go with 2 up top at the end. Could be a useful tactic in certain circumstances going forward. The young boy McColm didnt look out of place either in his short cameo. Overall, a decent performance and a great 3 points. 40 points in January isnt too shabby at all.

  20. Did I hear right that Neil McCann was yellow carded for complaining after our 2nd that we took the free kick quickly before he could finish giving instructions to his players? How rude of us!

  24. Well we’ve not been brilliant but we do look like we could score every time we get up the park. Kilmarnock giving off St Mirren vibes with the two big awkward forwards would love a couple more.Just, Priestman, Slattery and Said have been good. Sparrow has done brilliant too. and it has to be said, Polworth is still one of the biggest bellends in Scottish football. An absolute con of a player. Every new manager sticks him directly into the team (cos he can actually play)and then after a month drop him when they realise what he’s about.

  25. Thanks: I had originally contacted an individual at the jockey club with my enquiry but I got no reply so decided to use their own database, which I subsequently discovered after a few clicks. It's actually very interesting to an old weirdo like me. If Accies' colours are derived from LHoD's racing colours it would explain why (as the only professional British side to evolve from a school team, allegedly) they did not use the academy's blue and green colours (though this has been a change strip on occasion for HA, I believe). Anyone interested in comparing MFC's strips with Bradford City's over the years should consult Historical Football Kits, a fascinating website which I think our own underboyleheating (much missed) contributed valuably to over the years. Ironically, both my father and grandfather were Accies' fans (and the latter was chairman of HAFC for many years). My dear old dad used to say their colours were officially cerise and French grey but i think he was pulling my leg 😂.

  26. Don’t think McCann was far wrong that killie were the better side until the red whether they could keep up the tempo in the 2nd half is a different story, offside goal was marginal & they hit the bar good result & we’re defo missing watt feel like the big boy up front could touch the ball 3 times a game, movement looked good but we won’t put it in for him
