  1. And who would this mythical manager be then ? I know you always dismiss this with 'it's not my job to find the next manager but we shoulddn't be accepting this blah blah blah.....' but why not try facing facts for a change. Four teams in the bottom six have changed managers this season. Two of these teams (at least) have budgets that dwarf ours. How much better off than us are they right now ? Do you need me to tell you or can you work it out for yourself ? That's four teams that have scoured the country and probably beyond to find a better manager and not one of them has actually made any difference. Are you going to tell us next that our interim CEO should have a magic manager finding lamp, and if he doesn't then he's just an amateur thats out of his depth. You really are fucking tedious.

  2. With respect, we also dont need to agree with your assessment that EVERYTHING has been shite. I see a young manager struggling for results under difficult circumstances. Making mistakes along the way, but slowly improving things and a squad all bursting a gut for him because they clearly believe in him. You see someone who is either incompetent or not good enough and who will never improve or get better. Thats fair enough. But its way too early to call which is right.

  3. Aberdeen have literally spent millions of pounds and have 6 wins this season. We have the 5th best record in the league in terms of loses. In fact we've only lost once against anyone outside the Top 3 in the last 18 matches. But you keep dismissing draws that we've got away from home against teams like Celtic, Aberdeen and Hibs. as if these results don't count or are an actual negative. We have 11 defeats in 28 currently. The last time we finished 3rd we had 12 defeats in 30. In terms of defeats we have not been excessivily losing - we usually lose around 16-17 matches a season.

  4. Great result. What I find incredible is the absolute seethe I seen on Twitter in the first half. Yes we lost a silly goal, but for about 35 minutes of that half we controlled it comfortably. Second half he makes the tweaks and we win the game. But honestly what I was reading last night was bonkers. No wonder players distance themselves from social media. From the last month or so of fixtures we look to have the team to get us away from the relegation battle and that is basically where we all wanted to be during that bad run. Also think Miller being out impacted us hugely. His return has us playing far better and getting the ball on the deck.

  6. Read my other posts and you'll see that I haven't dismissed the draws. I've acknowledged that they've helped with our league position. You can have your broken record view, and I can have mine. Take your tedious Socratic questioning and personal abuse elsewhere.

  7. This is becoming harder for you to sell with each passing week wellfan. 3 points off top six with a better goal difference than the teams around us suggests that the board got it right to stick with him. Changing the manager has not really worked for RC, St Johnstone or Aberdeen. Maybe you need to drop this now? Great result tonight after a strong performance at the weekend. It is all heading in the right direction.

  8. A deserved win last night and an important one. Wherever we end up, it won't be in 12th spot. I've been critical of SK in the past, but I wouldn't blame him for last night's team selection. Both Vale and Gent were running on empty after Sunday and looked as if they'd taken knocks. Maybe a controversial suggestion but could Obika have started in place of Nicholson and been subbed at half time; but thats being wise in hindsight. Livingston scored the obligatory goal and fortunately it came very early; early enough in fact to allow us to recover. As against Celtic, we defended too deeply but still left gaps to be exploited. After a 14 minute spell of high pressing, Livi then decided to sit back and defend their single goal lead; that was on Martindale. I thought their gameplan was working pretty well and we could learn lessons from them. We did however fashion some chances from crosses which we failed to convert. Their big back line defended deeply and their strikers / midfield fought for everyting and defended 40 yards out. They swarmed around our our wide men and made it hard for us to get anywhere near goal. Bair was left isolated (hence my Obika comment). Our midfield struggled to create anything and was forced back anytime they tried to advance much over the halfway line. Plenty of possession but no penetration. SK transformed the second half with the introduction of the lively Vale for the out of touch Davor. We then began to play some nice footie and started to hit the byline. Just after the break Nicholson notched his first goal for us to be followed by Spittal and Vale. All well taken goals. Late on we saw the appearance of Gent, Blaney and Obika and saw the game out well. Overall a good team performance, Livi's early goal and our defending apart. We played some nice football as well. So SK and SK deserve credit for getting it right on the night, as do the players. I thought Livi were overly physical and niggly and very streetwise. Just what you'd expect. I thought John Beaton let them off with a lot - play acting, niggles, timewasting. One absurd incident summed it up for me. We were awarded a free kick and were about to place the ball, when a Livi player grabbed it and then threw it about 10 yards away, right under the ref's nose. Surely a yellow card; no action taken. A good night all round though. A final word of credit to the Well Bois, Block E, East Stand Collective(?). Pyros apart (thats another issue), they sang and drummed all night and created atmosphere. Well done lads.

  10. We all would. Sadly money talks.

  11. Would be hard not to agree with that. Don't think there's anyone there that would be an upgrade.

  12. Yup, I would rather keep Bevis than sign Obileye. We all know what Bevis can do....and definitely can't do but is Obileye an upgrade?....no in my opinion

  15. I completely understand that, and that's why most of us are here, to engage in good faith. But, I refuse to accept the forum as being a place for targeted personal abuse when someone disagrees with your view, hence why I continually respond to that individual to try to be constructive. Some people here can't enter a debate without signing off with snide personal comments.

  16. Hibs, Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Ross County all thought the same. (Two of them have a massively bigger budget than us). Why are they not all miles ahead of us in the league ?
    1 point
  17. Absolutely you can. But do you accept any of the mitigating factors? Do you think there is another manager out there that we could get on our budget who could have done better whilst being asked to do what SK has been tasked with? No one is denying that results for a 3/4 month period were poor and that there are still glaring weaknesses in our squad. But, for me, its a work in progress caused by previous bad decisions by the board and/or managers.

  18. I had a look and both Dundee and Hibs are playing the teams around us I think. If they win, it keeps us safe from danger, if they lose it gives us an opportunity to sneak in the top 6.

  20. You'd have had to been absolutely mental as a board to sack SK in those circumstances off the back of sacking Alexander and Hammell. If we had lost to Livingston before the New Year he would have been under severe pressure and probably couldnt have argued had the board acted. But he won that game and our form since then has been pretty decent. You can argue all day that there havent been many wins. But there havent been many losses either and the performances overall have been relatively decent. I know Im a broken record on this, but the board tasked SK with keeping us in the league whilst slashing the playing budget and reducing the squad size. He is on course to do that and has had a significant amount of injuries and other issues that have hampered us during that process. Im not sure there was a long list of managers out there that could have do that on the money that we pay, otherwise we may have interviewed them when Hammell or SK got appointed.

  24. Exactly this for me. Vale's energy and pace disrupted the Livingston lines. Something that we were incapable in the first half when we consistently played sideways and back.

  25. The cross in from SOD for Nicholsons goal was a belter, and the cross in 1st half was asking to be headed home and Mugabi fecked it up, all in a great performance from SOD tonight

  26. No offence to KVV but getting Vale instead of him has been a better move for us

  27. Blaney and Obika.........we must be planning to pay 'statues' for the last 5 mins

  28. Must say Vale has had a bigger impact on SPL than KVV so far . proving to be a very decent addition p

  30. Think it's unfair to have a pop at him, there's a few , e.g Davor Re Vale, think anyone who was at the game on Sunday could see he was struggling..we have made enough chances to be level Sorry for the happy clapping , I will say the defending for the goal was shit

  32. No, but I am assuming he's dropped one of our best players this season for a reason, rather than just to piss you off. Probably a football or player related reason that neither of us know. Or maybe you're right, he lost the plot and decided to drop him cause he thought it would be a right laugh. Gent went off on Sunday because he was utterly fucked and breathing out of his hole. Vale also because he ran himself into the ground. I'm not claiming to be Pep Guardiola but I think these things might be connected.
