I’ve not worded that well so I’ll try again. I do enjoy going because it’s a life long passion following Motherwell FC. I know however that I’m not always going to ‘enjoy’ the game because that’s just the way it is and always will be for a club of our stature, but I go regardless and wouldn’t miss it, even though it often has me tearing my hair out. So I’m afraid Motherwell FC are stuck with me.7 points

Yes. Overall, I found it cumbersome and confusing to have to constantly switch between 1) comments received in the initial consultation 2) proposed changes in light of that consultation and 3) the comprehensive detailed proposals and D) the the actual voting form when casting my vote. The information provided in 1), 2) and 3) was useful however; it was just the way in which it was presented. Specific examples? A) I agreed with the proposal to simplify adult membership tiers but wasn't clear about the status of legacy members who had paid in considerable sums in some cases; sometimes in a single lump sum. Why should they be allocated en masse to the 1886 tier and not to a higher tier? B) Code of conduct: I agree one should be introduced but don't agree with specific wording about "perceived" bullying, harassment and discrimination etc. Either its bullying / harassment / discrimination or its not. For the record, bullying / harassment / discrimination etc is totally unacceptable. Someone's perception can be wrong. I get though that this is a wider societal issue. Suggested text seems to say that it doesn't matter what someone does or says rather its whether another party is offended by it that matters. C) Major votes policy. I agree with its introduction but think that 75% is too high. I would have thought that 55/60/65% was more appropriate. That still represents a clear majority. Also, the triggers for a major vote are too loose and ambiguous. For example, what is the meant by a "large scale" financial decision? Is the defintion £1m or £2m or maybe £5m? Lines have to be drawn somewhere though. From memory, I may not have recalled everything 100% but thats the gist of my concerns. To put this in context though, well done to the those on the Society Board who drafted these documents. I know from bitter experience just how difficult and time consuming it is and the ramifications of defining a term loosely that only becomes apparent a later date, when some party takes issue with it.4 points

I’m assuming that Miller will be off soon, so I’m looking forward to us getting a nice hefty sum up front and the chance of some future add ons. I’m hoping we don’t squander any money on transfers but rather use it to be a bit more competitive on the salary front and enable us to better compete for some higher quality players. To be honest if we can replace Miller with two or three better quality players than we currently have in our squad we won’t miss him that much. With the team and tactics we’ve had the last few years we have not got the best out of him. We basically restricted his ability to play to his full potential by the way we played and the “support” we provided around him. So my comment about not missing him that much is a reflection on Motherwell FC and not on Miller. His talent and ability is there for everyone to to see but we were just never able to take full advantage of it.4 points

Scottish football is stagnant . All the usual home grown managers play same type of shit football tactically. Learned from the same books probably . One team plays one way so the other sets up to negate that. This along with playing each other 4 times if not more a season does make for boring stuff , boring managers with no room to trying something different . It's boring as fuk to watch. The majority of games in the league now are well below the standard they should be .Maybe someone from outside can bring something different along and bring back a bit of excitement back into a Saturday. I live in hope. And by the by this attitude is reflected in the National team as well. The manager makes watching paint dry seem exciting.3 points

Given Morecambe finished 24th from 24 and lost their League status, I imagine the new position is leaning on the counter at the job centre.3 points

The new kit? It's okay given the way the club has messed about with it over the years. At least there are no white shorts. I don't like the pin stripes and I HATE the fact the chest band only goes half way round. But at least it doesn't look like a Galatasaray training top like last year's effort. For me, the best strips in my lifetime were the 1994-96 top, the 2010-11 top and the 2023-24 top. Primarily because the chest band went all the way round but the relative, traditional simplicity of them also helped. The chest band only the front only looks half-assed and janky, too much "frippery" takes away from what is a strong traditional look and white shorts just look daft. White shorts were never "traditional". They were just the only colour available back in the day unless you used black. In the 30s there was a rule the home team HAD to wear white shorts, while the away team HAD to wear black. The advent of coloured shorts was a godsend for clubs like Motherwell with more original colours. When I grew up in the 70s, I didn't know Motherwell had a unique, traditional strip of their own. I wondered why our strip continually changed while others maintained their own unique look. I was thrilled to discover we had the amber top with claret chest band as a distinctive traditional strip. It should be one of the most distinctive, attractive and recognisable tops in football. Instead it is mucked about with and turned into some of the most hideous crimes against football fashion ever committed. Harrumph!3 points

agree with that - better going forward than he was in defence. What I really struggle with is how many players we offered further contracts to. Do the club really think he'd be part of the solution. I know there were clauses in likes of SODs contact etc but honestly we need to get our act together in this area. As a club we hand out too many contracts to players we should be moving on.3 points

I’d be quite happy if we were to go for Scott Brown even though I detested him as an opposition player. And can anyone deny he is a winner? Then again I’m against all this analytics bullshit. It all feels like a bit of a cop out to me. I can hear it now ……’Ah but the data suggested he was the man for the job’. Pretty sure even Kettlewell would have come out well using that system. Did that route not steer Hearts to opt for Cathro, as well as Critchley who outscored McInnes at the time? Crazy and hardly a strong recommendation for its use. I’m old school so let’s draw up a list of favourites from home and overseas, invite them in for an interview/presentation and offer the job to the one that comes across best whilst meeting the ethos of the Club…community, youth development, Society interaction etc. I wonder how many very successful managers would ever have gotten near their first appointments had analytics been the primary driver? Sometimes gut feeling and what you see with your own eyes might just be the way to go. As for Scott Brown, let’s set aside the Celtic connection and the Kipre red card. He had a job to do for his Club and did it very well. Just as he did as a player with Hibs. He is a young, ambitious Manager who is doing well and is highly regarded at Ayr. Did a good job at Fleetwood who were flirting with relegation before his appointment. He left after a season or so with the Club in turmoil behind the scenes and up for sale. The Ex Chairman was jailed for fraud. We could do a lot worse than Brown. Whoever we appoint has a huge job on their hands so we need to get things sorted soon.3 points

If we go with a traditional back four next season, I think Wilson would do the job just fine. As for Thompson, he doesn’t offer much going forward or defensively, so I would be disappointed if we gave him another deal.2 points

My view on the appointment. Well first of all I'm working off very little information. First things first, three kids in Denmark! I mean, that's only a semi serious point cos Wimmer definitely didn't leave because of his kids. On the face of it his managerial record is a bit meh but probably within the range you'd expect a Motherwell manager to be in. Most of his 'good' spells have been at pretty low levels of football and it's noticeable that Goteborg got worse when he was there and better when he left. The thing that jumps out at me though is his terms as manager have been pretty short (albeit not as short as Wimmer!). A year at Vendsyssel, a year at Goteborg, a year and a half at Horsens. Also the fact that he's given up manager positions to become assistant manager else where strikes me as a bit odd. He does seem to have a track record of developing youth but that might just be other leagues and other countries develop youth much better than Scotland, which is one of the worst in Europe. Anyway, I'm £500 in next season, so hopefully he does well but as I've said previously I think the whole Wimmer situation has kinda sabotaged our close season and prep for the upcoming season. Factor in the current squad, our best player almost certainly leaving and the fact that Livingston and ourselves will be the two smallest clubs in the division next season (two smallest clubs got relegated last term) and maybe it's a case of looking at next season, taking a deep breath and adopting a grim countenance. We've yet to see a ball kicked and there is still a lot of close season to pass but I'd be very cautious right now about any hopes and aspirations.2 points

I think we need to write off Nicholson, Robinson and Stuparevic from the squad. They are unlikely to contribute anything this season. Miller will obviously also be gone at some point. That leaves us Oxborough, Ward SOD, Koutroumbis, McGinn, Balmer, Wilson, McGhee Sparrow, Halliday, Slattery, Fadinger, Wells, Ross Stama, Maswanhise Of those out of contract, I think the only one Id try to keep is Seddon and at a push Paton. Thats a squad of 18 at present, which I would say leaves us room for at least 4 signings to improve the quality available for the starting 11 and resign some of the existing squad to places on the bench. If Sylla is one of those, I think we need a centre half, attacking midfielder, and a striker (2 would be nice).2 points

Ideally, we'd like him to go somewhere where he'll get sold on fairly quickly for a profit, so that we cash in twice.2 points

We shouldn't abandon our process because of one unfortunate issue. We aren't the first club to hire a manager from another country in our division, never mind the prevalence of foreign managers across all the leagues in Europe. I don't know how many of those left after 12 weeks because of a family issue, so it's not fair to assume that any manager from outside of the central belt is a flight risk for that reason. There's nothing to say thar out process won't lead us to a Scottish manager, but I don't think we should tear things up off the back of one incident.2 points

Played well tonight. Did all the simple things well and was always available for the ball. His team mates will eventually learn to trust him more than they did tonight. There were a few "just wow" moments as well. One pass to McGinn in the first half and a wee flick and turn in the second half that I still dont know how he pulled it off as the tv didnt show it again, but it was Zidane level of ridiculous. The boy is going to the top. Let the bidding commence.......2 points

The management position at Motherwell is always important. But so is a strong Executive Board. They are the ones who do the hiring and firing and they are the ones who have to sign off on the cheques any new manager wants to spend. I want to see a young progressive manager who wants to play football on the front foot and who has the ability to develop our young players and get them into the first team. If they can identify some (relative) quality into the side to improve our level of performance and ensure our squad players remain just that, all the better. But Id also like the Executive board to reign in the manager when required and stop throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. We have wasted some amount of money in recent seasons on players who contribute nothing but still pick up a wage. That needs to stop and that will determine whether we are better than Killie, Falkirk, Livingston et al at the end of next season.1 point

It's nowhere near the most important appointment post admin. The Wimmer appointment itself was much more important. The Kettlewell and Alexander appointments also. You could also add Craig Brown and Mark McGhee 1.0 to that list off the top of my head. Baraclough as well, probably. Livi and Falkirk being in the league should give us a fair bit of breathing space to the bottom of the league. Dundee deciding to become a basket case again after a couple of relatively quiet seasons, Killie replacing McInnes with SK and St Mirren potentially losing Robbo should make the season even more comfortable. We'd have to genuinely have one of our worst seasons ever (not one of the kid on ones everyone has claimed we've had for the last 15 years) to finish below 2 of that lot.1 point

Let's be totally frank about this. He left for a better job/pay/budget.1 point

Fair enough , but as I said I only concern myself with motherwell fc where he only played 10 times last season , which was a pity as he is a very good player. Oh and just to let you know I was very successful in my chosen field before I retired and indeed part of that was recruitment.1 point
