  1. It's just amazing how quickly some have forgotten the absolute dross we've watched under previous managers compared to this season. I'm not getting hyped I'm just happy to see the team play football the way it should be played and to great effect most weeks. Christ, we've earned it.

  2. We sold out our allocation today because we were quietly confident of a result. That's testament to how well the team has done this season. Unfortunately it didn't materialise due to multiple factors but not for lack of trying. We're brave on the ball and the quality is there for all to see. It's got it's results that sees us sitting pretty in the top six with a realistic chance of European football come the summer. Yes, we're out two cups and that's disappointing but we're still very much a work in progress. The whole fur coat no knickers narrative is simply pish.

  3. There are 2 counter arguments going on here that can be true at the same time. It is clearly very difficult for a club like ours to hold onto a good manager and good players, because as many have stated, money talks. Players and managers are ambitious so they will always want to test themselves at a higher level (and be remunerated for that). However, just because the manager and our better players will move on, doesnt mean we cant still try and build on that success. If we are smart, we move the players on when it suits us, for fees that allow us to re-invest in the squad and strengthen as a club. We also trust in the process that led us to Jens and try to find someone else who fits the same mould. Obviously, there is an element if luck attached to these things, but just as there is a cost to bad decision making (as we have seen in the past) there can be a benefit to good decision making. With the Well Society now pulling the strings at the club, we have discovered our identity, and we now have a model in place, that if done correctly, can be sustainable. Being the best version of ourselves that we can be is the ambition the club needs to show, and so far its going pretty well.....

  4. Honestly think perspective is being lost by some. We're well on track to be 4th. We got beat today by a better team who played well and have the depth, strength, quality of players to hurt us and they did. It's not because we were poor , or have poor players or have a ref who caused it. Today we came off second best, albeit still competed well with them until the penalty. I do wonder if all the hype and suggestion of winning the league has skewed many perspectives. I don't agree that a bubble has burst - we're too many games into the season to refer to bubbles/lucky streaks. We're a damn good team and on course to be 4th.

  5. I dont think thats fair. The only big game I dont think we turned up in was the League Cup semi-final, and even that game was down to "moments". Performance wise, we have been excellent against Hearts twice, Celtic three times and Rangers three times. Results wise you could make an argument for it, but given all 3 teams have significantly bigger budgets than us and are above us in the league, they might just be better/luckier than us. The fact that we have been able to go toe to toe with them is a significant improvement on mindset and performance levels from years gone past. Of course, if we want to develop and get better, Jens will have to find a way to bridge the gap and turn those performances into results.

  6. Maybe now we can start looking at the fact that O'Donnell will be 34 next season, McGinn will be 36 and Welsh will be somewhere else earning much more money.

  11. I was always against VAR because, as I said at the time, it was madness to think the same people making bad decisions on the pitch would somehow start making good decisions when they looked at video. It has turned out worse than I thought, because now they are intervening far more than the original claim of overruling "clear and obvious errors" and are practively refereeing games. When you add the ability to make decisions that change games in favour of big teams then the game, as they say, is gone.

  12. Longelo gave the officials a decision to make. Very soft but the sort of challenge that the old firm get awarded penalties for week in week out. The issue like the game at Fir Park is that questions need asking on why the officials failed to send Celtic players off for obvious offences. Tho it is a recurring theme for all teams against them. Then you have the officials turn a blind eye to shoves in their box or over zealous challenges. The shove was soft but a foul everytime outside box. Just was targetted yesterday and was kicked constantly with no protection from the officials. Given how tight the title chase is these officials and the decisions they make are only going to be more biased and outrageous. Hearts have no chance. As for the media and Authorities they ignore the big issues and as a result our game is still in the dark ages and struggles to modernise. All we can do is play our football and try to grow as a club.

  14. I have no interest in you pro rangers agenda, your opinion doesn't matter either tbh, Motherwell are at Celtic on Saturday, stick to predicting defeats.

  15. You really are trying too hard to ignore the facts to suit your narrative. Firstly you don't comment on the fact that Rangers fans invaded the park when they thought they had scored and indulged in goading of the Celtic fans. Did you forget this? More importantly the Celtic fans didn't react. Furthermore you overlook the fact that once the Rangers fans attempted to attack the Celtic fans after the penalties the latter resisted the goading. Lets be thankful they didn't. As for the Celtic fans having the form you refer to which ofc is not inaccurate, you dont note the facts that Rangers fans have on many more occasions over the years invaded pitches. The list is endless, examples of which include a League Cup final in mid 60's, Scottish Cup final in 1969, Newcastle in 1969/70, Scottish Cup final in 1980 and in more recent times when Rangers fans brought a halt to a game at Fir Park when playing Jock Wallace's Motherwell. In all instances Rangers had either lost or were losing. Spot the pattern? Could of course add Manchester when they caused untold damage to that city but what's the point. Let me repeat the Celtic fans who surged the gates, caused damage and left disgraceful graffiti deserve every condemnation. But when it comes to the aftermath on Saturday it is patently wrong to say the Celtic fans are the main culprits. Finally, you might want to ask yourself why in a much more important game the Celtic fans didn't charge the Aberdeen fans after penalties following last season's Scottish Cup final. In short he contrast with Rangers fans last Sunday is stark. No more comments from me on this subject. Anyway let's get back to this coming Saturday when I'm sure whatever our differences we will be rooting for a Motherwell win.

  16. If you're not ultra optimistic as a Motherwell fan, it must be a hellish pastime. Four major trophies in 140 years tells its own story. This season may or may not be repeated, but while we're waiting and hoping for silverware, I'd much rather spend my hard earned watching a team at least attempting to play decent football. Or in St Mirren's case, football.

  17. A look at your posts over some time re the uglies clearly shows an attempt to minimise the awfulness of RFC. Walk like a duck comes to mind!! Yesterday's aftermath is a case in point in that you blame Celtic supporters when even the dogs in the street can see the Rangers fans where in attack mode . Celtic fans although they shouldn't have invaded the park were largely celebratory. And of course I don't recall Celtic supporters attacking Rangers players!!! I suggest you fully brief yourself on RFC as even the most basic analysis shows that it remains a cornerstone of bigotry in the 21st century. For example this is seen by them continuing to play in orange strips when this colour is nowhere to be found in their official colours. RFC clearly knows its support base . And aside from their ' values' we can't forget their liquidation resulting from their evidenced cheating of HMRC and indeed other clubs ( including us) from points, trophies and European places. Any other club would have been put out of existence. Yup, Celtic and many of its supporters are distasteful but they are manifestly not as disagreeable as the blue lot no matter how much you might want to disagree. Finally, when posting in the future you might want to remember the great journalist Ian Archer's description of RFC and its support " As the permanent embarrassment and the occasional disgrace". Never a truer word.

  18. Yes, it's amazing how some laws of the game seem to have fallen into abeyance without anyone being told about it 😈. I see foul shies (apologies, age) regularly nowadays at our matches. Also, the authorities have allowed all these stramashes (God bless Arthur Montford) at corners and free kicks to proliferate to the point where it's almost impossible for a referee to spot all the infringements in the box at dead balls. All supporters of clubs outwith the OF is that the refs apply the laws fairly. We saw several examples of persistent fouls against us at Celtic Park on Saturday go unpunished, some of which should have resulted in a sending off, but didn't. It's interesting to note that some Celtic players do seem to be sent off in European games but rarely in Scotland, like Mr Maeda, IIRC. I have to say that, if the roles had been reversed with Longelo and Maeda, I doubt if we would have been given a penalty and a Celtic player sent off into the bargain at Celtic Park. Similarly, had Fadinger fouled Fernandez in the last minute of our match at Ibrox in December, would that appeal have been so airily and quickly waved away by the match referee? That's the reality of the game in Scotland, and has been for more years than I care to remember.

  20. Absolutely. It's one of those rare seasons I don't want to end. While I'd love to win a cup, I enjoy watching us perform at this level week-in week-out, and would be delighted to see us play the same way for another 38 games.

  21. If you think our season's basically been over since Pittodrie, fair enough. I don't feel that way at all, and whatever happens in the summer, I'll wring every bit of enjoyment I can get out of the remaining games.

  22. I can 100 percent accept that was a penalty but 100 percent that is not a red card if thats a red card then no match in world football should be being finishing with 22 players on the park at the end. And the fact I witnessed a Ox Chamberlain stay on the park after a horror tackle proves to me that paying for something that doesnt really work you tend to throw it away and VAR as we use it needs to be thrown right in the bin its refs backing up pal refs with terrible decisions. So reading the messages no we haven't been found out,no the bubble hasn't burst and I don't know what game some of the folk here were watching or listening to yesterday but we were firmly in the game until the Red Card. Its like folk on here are itching at the bit for us to get beat have a bad game so they can moan.

  23. If beaton needs var to tell him it was a penalty given his unobstructed view of the incident , then maybe refereeing isn't for him. Cowardly bastard.

  24. Ive just watched the highlights and that was never a penalty, never mind a red card a feckin disgraceful decision, i cant believe useless cnuts like beaton and clancy get away with shit like that week after week with no accountsbility.

  25. I thought some of our football was excellent today. Watched it on Celtic Tv and Peter Grant was full of praise for us. It was a pen, but the red card was awful, terrible decision that has changed the game. We lacked a bit of cutting edge up front today and were wasteful in good areas. But our play from the back to midfield was outstanding. Keep playing the way we are then 3rd or 4th is achievable which let’s be honest would be a fantastic result for the club. Just got to keep building this style of play into next season as I’m sure it will bring success to the club.

  26. I think we've been overhyped and that has maybe got to us. Folk need to remain grounded. Yes, we are probably the best footballing team in the league, but that alone doesn't win you games. There are 3 possibly 4 better teams than us in the league and we shouldn't forget that. However we'll finish in 5th at worst and thats a tremendous achievement. We've built a good foundation from which to strengthen the squad for next season and turn it into a team capable of winning a cup.

  27. Don’t have any arguments with that today. I thought we did fine and played really good stuff at times and infact i felt we were having the upper hand at the time of the penalty/sending off. After that it was damage management. Nothing to get too disheartened about, the next 2 home games are the more crucial ones. We need to stay in 4th and try and cause a bit of mayhem in the top 6.
    2 points
  28. On a plus point Hibs failed to beat Livingston at home and drew 0-0 so very much still advantage us in the race for 4th. Next week at home against them is absolutely massive, we need to beat them to increase our lead and also to get back on track otherwise we could suddenly find ourselves in a bit of a rut after such a good run.

  29. Going by the rules of the game it’s a penalty and when VAR is operating then you’re never getting away with that. That was not the reason we lost today and can’t be used as an excuse for it. We just weren’t good enough.
    2 points
  30. Can’t believe I’m saying this but to be fair to Beaton he didn’t give it. Technically correct after VAR review so question is more why similar incidents are not all subject to VAR. that’s the more likely bias in favour of old firm, especially at home.

  32. I like the idea behind the Birmingham City stadium. It would be nice to have a tip of the hat to Ravenscraig incorporated within our stadium, whether that be a museum or just in the design. Realistically, Kansas City Womens stadium is probably more in line with we could afford. Albeit I dont like stadia with open sides as per Falkirk or Hamilton.......

  33. Great video Stephen, thanks for sharing. Its very thought provoking and it would seem the future design of stadia holds both challenges and opportunities. At our level, new stadia have to cater for wider community benefits and I can quite see NLC being fully on board with any new stadium plans we have if it meant we would provide community sports and leisure facilities and pick up the maintence tab. That would allow it to close its own facilities and invest that precious cash into other more important budgets. I suppose new stadia are becoming like Type 26 frigates. As soon as they're finished, they're years out of date. There are other challenges as hinted at in the video. There's perhaps scope for the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal or Barcelona to open their own mini stadia in places like Scotland either on their own, or through partners like ourselves. Premier league games could be beamed live to their own dedicated stadia in the likes of Wishaw. Such games could attract maybe 10,000 - 15,000 fans for a game - replicate that all over Europe and other continents and you have a nice little money earner. At our level I doubt if we'd be able to afford an all singing all dancing version but there's no reason why we couldn't afford a more basic but modern and functional version, that fans could relate to. The design could also connect to our local heritage to avoid any development being soulless. Not sure about Birmingham's design though! It would be a real shame, if in 20 years' time, kids asked their parents what a brick, billet, pig iron or blast furnace was. I'm already seeing and hearing that kind of reaction with my own family. The bottom line, as always, is the raising the funds.

  34. JBA has made such a difference in such a short time that sometimes you have to take a step back and remind yourself of just how much progress we have made. Yes, losing was a big disappointment but that was the only game we have lost in 18 against bottom 6 teams. We still dominated the game but just couldn’t manage to get the goals to win it. I was pleased to see JBA’s after match response which was very calm, sensible and measured, giving plaudits to Dundee for making it a very hard game for us amd also sticking by our players for their efforts. Being philosophical a not throwing anyone under the bus, basically sticking by the outlook he has preached all season, “there will be games, where, despite our best efforts, we will get beat”. Keep doing what we are doing well and work on improving in areas where we can do better.

  36. I think you need to look a little more closely at what happened last year. The Well Society were absolutely marginalised by the old board, who were happy for us to be a token guesture and take our money when it suited. We had no real power until the, then Society Board addressed these governance issues and flexed their muscles a little. The reason we have 2 members on the board now and a Chairman and CEO who are in lockstep with the fan owned ethos, is because of the efforts of these indivuduals. We are now a properly fan owned club with actual representation and a say in the big decisions effecting us. Its sad that there are some still diseffected but if the Well Society hadnt acted so decisively we would now be in the hands of a charlatan and the family silver would have been pawned.

  37. Yeh, prior to 2016 they didnt have any significant history even within Norwegian football. In the last 10 years they have evolved "through a sustainable, performance-driven model that combines high-value player sales, consistent UEFA competition revenue, and strategic reinvestment rather than reliance on a single wealthy benefactor" Sound familiar?

  39. If the club get things right on and off the pitch and generate enough income to be able to back the manager financially then why not, anything is possible. But there is a lot to sort out outwith improving the team, do we move or improve, new training facilities, etc etc. Standing still and showing no ambition other than avoiding relegation each season is no way to develop the club and get more fans back to Fir park, so the board have a job on their hands, but so far we seem to be moving in ghe right direction.

  40. You seem to be a bit hurt and put out by the suggestion that it was anyone other than the “dirty bad bigoted Rangers” that were to blame. Indeed you are trying to use examples of instances in the past where Rangers fans were at fault to try and deflect from what happened at the end of the game in question on Sunday 8th March 2026 where it was Celtic fans at fault. I don’t know too much about Rangers fans invading the park after they thought they had scored, but obviously if they had then that wouldn’t have been acceptable either. Fans shouldn’t invade the park regardless of what team they support. The stands are for the fans to celebrate, the park are for the players to celebrate. That’s the ways it’s always been. Also, I don’t remember Aberdeen’s fans charging on to the park and aggressively goading the Celtic fans in the stands at Hampden after last seasons Scottish Cup Final. If you or anyone else can point me in the direction of any photos or footage which shows otherwise then I’d be grateful. Had they done so then I think it’s pretty safe to assume that there would have been some kind of reaction. You obviously just want to see everything from a perspective of “Rangers are bad, scum, the worst and whatever they do is premeditated and hostile” whilst at the same time anyone giving them any abuse or whatever is fair game because they’re Rangers and they deserve it. And as I’ve already said that’s absolutely fine if that’s how you see it. I prefer to look as things as I see them and judge it from there. And from what I saw from the game on Sunday, 8th March 2026, the post match bother was caused by Celtic fans. And that, is that, my good man.

  43. Might be the case. But we each have our own opinion on that. More important is that both clubs get punishment that helps to deter these people from doing this again. I’m not holding my breath on that. I’d make them play the first two OF games of next season behind closed doors. This mainly punishes the fans but is also a loss of revenue for both clubs. Then moving forward any time it happens the punishment gets increased by 1 game. Maybe overly simplistic but that’s just off the top of my head. SFA and the clubs need to have a think about it and work out how to stop this. That applies to all clubs.

  45. Its not the law, or the wording of it. More the VAR intervention. As i said - for VAR to recommend a red it has to be clear and obvious. Is there enough evidence there to conclude longelo didnt simply make a mess of that? May have to agree to disagree, but not for me. And the fact the VAR check took as long as it did speaks volumes. For the record, if beaton had given a red straight away, i also wouldn't expect VAR to intervene.

  48. I agree with the attendances, football success is cyclical. For us in recent memory the trend has been good for a couple of seasons then mediocre for a few, above average for one and repeat on a five year cycle, heavily influenced by manager, recruitment and academy progression. I do think a new stadium if designed wisely could get bump in attendances for home and away fans due to the novelty and nuance. What maintains that long term is emulating the footballing side from the past 18 months as much as possible. Hosting Livi midweek in early December has a lot cobwebs even now. I think you can do things integral to the design to enhance the atmosphere even at half capacity or less. Stuff like steep stands (building regs have it at 42 deg pitch max I think). Proximity of opposing fans, similar to the old shed where tribalism manifests and can flourish, one of my best memories was at Brockville and the too and fro'. Perception, situating the fans so on telly at least the stadium looks busier (ie none under the main TV gantry), Hampden does this when the OF aren't involved. If parts of the stadium are unused there's no need for stewarding, McLean stand for Ross County fixture for example. If you count the top flight three OF, potential of top six and a fourth, a city club requiring more than 4,800 tickets and a early cup tie then we have potential to oversell our current offering in roughly a quarter of our home fixtures, and outsell massively in three to five of those games. If projected income can be used to give us a much better stadium to enter when we get the keys, I see the negatives as minor. The spaces I suggested in the presentation, only one corner I envisaged as being office space (both for the club and an incubator space for SME's). The other corners/stands were a mixture of spaces where people have/wish/aspire to go to, such as a gym with or without a pool/dance studios, etc, street-food court and a "Makers Space", using one set up in Boston as an idea. I suggested our executive boxes could be used as hotel bedrooms on non match days. For me the stadium and it's spaces have to be fully dynamic, configurable and adaptable plus the asset has to be sweated massively outside the 25 games hosted per season. A coffee shop/restaurant is complimentary to all of the above and ensure the building would be in use universally almost 24hrs a day but certainly from 0700-2300 if all ideas employed. A 12,000 capacity allows us to mimic what we have at present by and large, except our current maintenance costs are swapped for a large mortgage and lesser maintenance costs, this would undoubtedly affect our player budget. Moving to 15,000 or 18,000 stadium allows the club in theory to recoup approximately £20m over 20 years from other clubs supporters to finance the stadium while filtering the same ticketing revenues we currently enjoy to fund the team. Add in increased home crowds, enhanced hospitality functions, rents of sub leases, etc. all of these allow us to move away from current peer clubs like St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Dundee.
