  1. Quite agree, although to be fair, I presume we don't really know what we're paying him now. For all I know, maybe we could actually afford to pay him top-end of our pay scale, but only if we were we to lose another couple of players without replacement (which could happen, though I'd rather it didn't). That would still be a massive pay cut compared to his EPL days, but sometimes enjoying yourself is more important than the money.
  2. Have to go for Faddy as well… he's the only one who's likely to produce something out of nothing once or twice a game. If Higdon does stay, and I hope he does, it has the potential to be a tricky season for him. Realistically he's unlikely to match this season's goalscoring tally even if he does maintain good form, and if he doesn't start banging them in again straight away the usual suspects will likely start getting on his back.
  3. Something like that To be honest, all this chat about how much we'd "lose" for finishing second this year is a bit daft. We'd lose nothing because we never had it in the bank to start with, and we'll still be a lot better off than if we finish any lower.
  4. I'd genuinely forgotten he was even there!
  5. Nah. You can sit and play "what if" all day, but for every time we've been unlucky, I dare say something has gone our way as well. And you'd be hard pushed to find another 13 points we "should" have won to put us above Celtic. This season has brought us Champions League football, a record goalscorer, (probably) our highest league finish in a generation, and the return of Faddy. Just enjoy it!
  6. Doubt anyone will even notice it down there, unless he somehow ends up at one of the big EPL clubs he'll be a very wee fish in a very big pond of shite-spouting.
  7. 1999, according to the telly commentary. (Haven't checked though.)

    Celtic

Hard to choose between Las and Henrik. Las covered every blade of glass and even did a bit of a Davie Cooper near the end, Henrik ran them absolutely ragged and scored a peach.
  9. Ah, but now he's resting some of his players for the Cup Final, y'see. So we didn't really beat the real Celtic, obviously.
  10. Now you're making me pine for the days when you had to work out what it was going to look like from some two-inch square teaser photos. Have to say I actually don't mind the collar at all. It's different, but inoffensive. (Not that I'll be buying one anyway -- always said I'd stop wearing football tops when I hit 40, and that was a while ago now!)
  11. Hmm. Sounds like I ought to get onto them then. Transfer is showing as completed at my end, but who knows where it might have ended up
  12. Did anyone ever get any confirmation that their renewal fee had been received? (Mine was due end of March, I sent a bank transfer, have heard nothing since.)
  13. But the guard of honour would be for the players, not Neil Lennon.
  14. Depends how you define "rampant". Over the course of the season, they've won a lot more games than anyone else, scored a couple of dozen more goals than anyone else, and lost fewer games than anyone else. And in their last game, they thumped our nearest rivals 4-1, albeit with the incentive of wrapping up the SPL title that day. That still sounds reasonably rampant to me
  15. Hmm, it does look a bit like three different strips bunged together! Happy enough with the shirt and always like to see 'Well wearing white shorts, socks not really doing it for me though -- none of the shirt or shorts design seems to be carried through to them at all.
  16. I liked Fraser Wishart's retort that the nominations were decided by "a democracy, not an 11-1 vote"
  17. Should be -- society benefits are supposed to include 5% season ticket discount for Steel members, 10% for Claret, 20% for Amber. Though I suppose there may be small print somewhere that says you can't get it on top of the early bird discount...
  18. It's kinda depressing to look at the market values of the players roundabout Higgy in that table, knowing what we'll get for him -- the two below him are valued at £12.5m and £22m !
  19. Even if they hadn't, provided the higher price was on display at the turnstile when you got there, I highly doubt there'd any legal case to answer, as no money had changed hands at that point.
  20. All details here : http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/shop/buy-a-brick/
  21. Pretty much this. We've lost better before for less or nothing, and will no doubt do so again.
  22. He's on to a good thing here at the moment, with Ojamaa and even Humph on a good day putting decent chances on a plate for him most weeks. I don't expect those two to be going anywhere over the summer, so hopefully that would be one good reason for him to hang around.
  23. Although we all know Randolph is a fine keeper, I doubt he'll be in many other people's team of the year. Most folk will just look at the fact we've had fewer clean sheets than any team other than Dundee, and think he must be crap. Which is fine by me
  24. No, but you still can complain that what is supposed to be a league competition is effectively being settled by a cup tie, which is all a bit incongruous whether or not you know in advance that it's going to happen.
  25. I know it was a few years ago he said it, we don't know the exact context and there's been a veritable deluge under the bridge since then, but personally I still kinda have the feeling he's not all that interested in being part of the Old Firm circus.
