  1. I know it was a few years ago he said it, we don't know the exact context and there's been a veritable deluge under the bridge since then, but personally I still kinda have the feeling he's not all that interested in being part of the Old Firm circus.
  2. Because people would moan if they did that, too.
  3. Entirely up to them of course. But there are certainly some companies in my line of work I wouldn't want to join for an extra £20k a year, plenty of things about a job are more important than the pay packet.
  4. Me too (well, except I was 5). My very first Motherwell game, IIRC.
  5. Bob McHugh signs a new contract: http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2013/03/26/mchugh-extends-his-stay/
  6. Pretty much just what I was about to type.
  7. And if he says no, we play potentially the most important few games of the season with no manager? Doesn't sound like a great plan to me.
  8. One theory that struck me last night: wouldn't be surprised if Celtic had (perhaps stupidly, but let's face it, not unreasonably) already budgeted for finishing first this season, but no other time in their right mind would have budgeted for finishing second. So everybody would have been happy for second place to take the hit, while the amount that everybody *had* budgeted for was increased (or, in Celtic's case, stayed the same).
  9. Au contraire, he could deliver a right hook perfectly.
  10. One reason, I suspect, is that Hateley is also a key figure in many of our attacking set pieces, but he's been useless at those for a while too.
  11. The split has its flaws, but I have to say I never understand why folk get annoyed about such a scenario. Everyone knows what they're aiming for at the start of the season, and comparing points totals between the top and bottom after the split is comparing apples and oranges. (Which is why I always thought it might not have been such a bad idea to normalise things after the split by subtracting the number of points the bottom team in each half has from all the other teams in that half. At least then it's obvious that you're really dealing with two completely separate 'mini-leagues' at that point.)
  12. You can according to this FIFA document (emphasis mine): "Advantage: The referee allows play to continue when the team against which the offence has been committed will benefit from such advantage and penalises the original offence if the anticipated advantage does not ensue at that time. The referee takes disciplinary action against players guilty of cautionable and sending-off offences. He is not obliged to take this action immediately but must do so when the ball next goes out of play." And later: "If the infringement will result in an expulsion, the referee shall stop play and send the player off unless there is a subsequent opportunity to score a goal."
  13. Yes, the ref absolutely can do either of those things, provided he does so when the ball next goes out of play.
  14. Not any more than customs search everyone who goes through the green channel, would slow things down too much. Personally I've no problem with them searching just whoever they think looks dodgy, plus some at random (whether male or female).
  15. In the pre-Hearts press conference, he said he still doesn't foresee any problems and is expecting it to be sorted out early next week. (Whilst cheerfully admitting that he said that last week too!)
  16. Alison got back to me last night again, she spoke to the MFC TV providers and my subscription has been reinstated until April 22nd. I suspect that'll just have fixed it for me rather than for everyone, but she said she's happy to sort out anyone else who's had the same problem if you contact her.

Surprised there's been no mention in the papers of the cup that got lobbed at Kris Commons either, to be honest. Usually the sort of thing we're hauled up for right away…again, amazing what a difference it makes when the players/fans involved just shrug it off as a bit of a joke.
  18. Cheers Flow… the odd niggle apart, I'm pretty sure most of us appreciate the array of online options we have for keeping up with club's activities these days.
  19. Ta. I'm actually using NetShade on both my Mac and my iPad for that sort of thing at the moment (offers UK, US and various other proxies, or VPN if you pay a bit extra), which is doing the job quite nicely too.
  20. Just received an email from Alison to say the 'Well Society MFC TV membership is only supposed to last 12 months. That doesn't explain why it's expired two months early, but if true, also makes a mockery of the only actual tangible benefit for us overseas members (especially those of us who didn't join at the lowest level).
  21. Yeah, those kind of apps work for some things, but tend to fall down if you want to watch geo-restricted content like iPlayer because they work by streaming the video in a different format from a server in (usually) some other country.
  22. I emailed them first. They did respond quickly, but told me my code was supposed to expire on 22nd February, even though I'd pointed out that it shouldn't have done as far as I was aware. Didn't seem much point arguing the toss with them after that until I knew exactly what I was supposed to have got.
