Frm reports Killie are paying the majority (or even all) of KVVs wages.

Puts a different slant on it.

Fair enough if we were throwing £2k at it and missing out.

Killie reportedly throwing between 5k and 10k a week at it rightly put us off.

Yep no way he's worth that to us.

If we're brutally honest, is Scottish football really worth the entry cost? £20-£20 to sit in the pissing rain and cold to watch football? The facilities are shocking, the food and drink on offer is a joke.

I don't blame anyone for spending their hard earned elsewhere.

I get that but why can other clubs get more fans to do it than we do.

That my friend is still a loss in the p and l funded by long term debt.
Still lost a million quid whether they borrowed it from the government or borrowed it from Taylor Swift.

I can assure you a loan is not a loss. There are not a set of accounts on the planet that show a loan as a loss, well except Donald Trumps accounts. The only contributing factor to any loss would be the outgoings to finance the loan. In this case I.e £50,000 a year (£1 million / by 20 years) You cannot attribute a twenty years cost to one years accounts.

Apathy, likely beginning during the Covid season and fully realised through the serial mismanagement we’ve witnessed since.

It goes back longer than that mate. Our home crowds have been stuck at 3500 /4000 for years and years.

I sincerely hope we won't go down.

We are long over due it but doesn't mean it will happen. We just need to get the club stable again. Get some decent money for Lennon Miller and get ourselves sorted out. If we come through the next 6 months there's no reason to think we can't put the shambolic last 2/3 years behind us.

The reason I've stayed away from Fir Park at times has nothing to do with being fairweather. It's genuinely been because I couldn't afford it. When I've had the cash to buy a season ticket I've always bought one. And when I can't go to a game I always offer my ticket out because I know what it's like not to be able to afford to go.

Perfectly acceptable no one should be putting money into the club if they can't afford it , the problem is there will be Motherwell fans who can afford it but won't go.

As I’ve said before, maybe if so many of our ‘supporters’ weren’t as lazy, fairweather and only turned up when we get to Hampden or for European games then we might have been able to do a bit better than only being able to match half of what St.Mirren do.

I genuinely didn’t think that that would leave us so far behind the likes of St.M & Killie in terms of wages etc but I suppose it all adds up.

My biggest gripe is St Mirren and Killie benefitting from better league positions and performances and it's reflected in their grounds. If they were having shite seasons they'd be down around our attendances. However if we were sitting 3rd our home crowds would be lucky to rise 500 a game.

Van Veen had an outstanding six months where everything he hit went in, in a team that Kettlewell had set up with the tactic 'Play to suit Van Veen'. Looking at the rest of his career, I wouldn't (as it appears Killie have and St Mirren were willing to do) have been pushing the boat out for him...

People do also forget he did go through a barren spell so there are no guarantees. However will be a certainty we will give him his first goal on Saturday

The home stands are never 3/4 full when they play the Old Firm on TV or we went there in the Cup. It didn't look that full when we played them in the league either.

They have multiple games a season where the away stand is practically empty and to make up for that the home stands would have to be rammed all the time considering the capacity is only 8000.

Yes they are open your eyes. When we go there we fill three quarters of the away stand. The only clubs that do are St Jane Livi.  So you must believe they are falsifying their crowds please tell us why and don't give us for tax shite.

Kilmarnock have had over 27,000 more fans through their turnstiles this season than we have.

At 25 quid a head that's well over half a million pounds and more than enough to pay twice our wage cap.

Exactly too many of our fans are in denial. Both St Mirren and Killie have larger fan base than we have both have managed to increase them whereas ours remains static. Please none of this bollocks about fake crowds and Freebie's without the slightest shred of proof. This is a big problem for us our complete inability to get the home support above 3500/4000.

Half and Half I'd say this and salaries.  Although one year out in comparison - later this month we can compare like for like.

Turnover : 5.5 MILLION (St Mirren had same)

WAGES: 5.2 MILLION (St Mirren 3.8)

Other OPERATING EXPENSES: 2.1 MILLION (this is where the pitch comes into play - and savings here would have cut the million loss)

Bollocks how often do fans need to be told the ground renovations were paid for by a twenty year £3.5 million interest free loan from the Scottish Government

St Mirren's attendances are as fake as Aberdeen and Celtics. They are counting empty seats.

I Keep hearing this pish all the time their attendance are fake. Produce the slightest evidence that the case, same with the push all their tickets are freebies.. produce the evidence . You only need to look at their games on TV the ground their ground holds 8000 and it's regularly three quarters full.

    Good news

kvv will be at FP at the weekend

    bad news

he won’t be in our dressing room

if we can’t match up to st mirren or killie in terms of salary when we’re running small squad I seriously worry about our way forward as a club

Who says we can't maybe we have a different value of his worth or do we keep bidding to knock the others out. There are so many scenarios that we will never know but I'm bored with KVV now let's move on

I just dont see how they could pay double, more then fair enough but if those 2 teams are paying double then we are in a worse state than we thought

It's a question for the club to answer. Not the fact we didn't get him , that's fair enough but clubs if a similar size being able to offer double something very iffy if true.

He really needs to think about whether that pitch at Killie will be good for his old knees.... :)

I'm actually quite relaxed if he doesn't come to us. There are no guarantees he would be the same player that left.. look at Jake Hastie. If he came I'd be quite happy but if he doesn't I don't think it's as big a deal as some of our fans may think.  Look how many folk were desperate for us to sign Louis Moult and he's already showing signs at Utd that his injury issues ain't behind him. Qué Sera Sera....

  16. 9 minutes ago, MelvinBragg said:

My understanding of the Van Veen situation is that it's a loan so wages probably not the issue here so much as how much each club can contribute. So it might be Groningen that decides rather than Van Veen himself...

Gronigen won't decide the decision will be KVV if Gronigen don't like one clubs offer but like anothers KVV will only go if it suits him. Gronigen cant force him to go anywhere.

  17. 1 minute ago, santheman said:

Hearts have confirmed they've no interest in him.

Killie (according to their fans) are only looking for a defender this window.

Leaves us and possibly St Mirren as the other clubs interested (allegedly I might add).

All coming from a tweet by a Dutch journo.

Oh well St Mirren it is 😁😁😁

  18. Just now, MelvinBragg said:

Apparently we're one of several clubs in for Van Veen. Unsure whether it'd be a good idea or not...

If Hearts are in for him too I think that's where he will go. All that matters is money all the misty eyed pish that gets talked about players is not worth a fuck. It's a difficult one , rarely do returns to Fir Park work and it's strange how it's all gone tits up a Gronigen. I think as an individual he may be "hard work" however is it worth a gamble if we can afford it for 6 months ? Yes it is because relegation is a bigger financial threat.

I think its worth highlighting Lukas Jutkiewicz figures before he signed for Motherwell. He had done nothing of note prior to that, in fact had played way more games than Jack Vale with a statistically poorer return. Now Im not saying Jack Vale will be that level of player, but no one had ever heard of Lukas and he turned out pretty well. So lets see what Jack has got eh?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lukas_Jutkiewicz

Mika Biereth had done fuck all before he came to us.
