I don't think County were that bad on the ball last night, it's just off the ball they were stinking.  They are basically playing with a new keeper, two out of three centre halves and two sitting midfielders and I think that lack of cohesion and familiarity was probably a big problem for them.

Getting two early goals is going to sink most teams and certainly teams with County's away form, last away win was in September.

They played a high pressing game and their defence can't handle it. RC tactics played right into our hands.

Please sign a new three year contract with us?

As near perfect a performance as you will ever see Inna Motherwell shirt. He's on hot form at the right time for us and him. On his current form there is no way we will hold onto him. If he goes to St Mirren he's off his head bigger and better than them will be after him.  Knowing our luck we will give Slattery a new deal.

Last night also proved what I've ditched about for years. Our midfield has been a major part of our problems. When you get a midfield playing like they did last night the defence is not so constantly under pressure and they supply good chances for the forwards. It's an area of the team we've neglected for far too long and I mean ever before SK time. We've invariably has lightweights in the midfield. I know some ain't his biggest fan because of his final ball but Paton was winning everything in the midfield battles and played a big part last night.

We do need to also acknowledge RC played a strange game and never changed it. They played a high pressing line but frankly don't have the defence to cope when they lose the ball. Everything went through Dhanda and he had poor support and we kept him on a tight reign.

One of the most enjoyable games from a Motherwell fans perspective in a few years, dominant start to finish. 10-0 would not have been an injustice.

Whilst it’s good not to lose, drawing too many games is a recipe that will having us staying near the bottom of the table. I was really frustrated with Kettlewell yesterday as I felt he should have rolled the dice with a few subs around the 60 minute mark. I felt one of the fullbacks should have been introduced then and Halliday was done, so Miller should have been on earlier. I also fail to see the point of introducing Nicholson on 89 minutes. He should have been on no later than 75 minutes. We need to be winning games at Fir Park. We’ve still only won once in the league in 20 league games, which simply isn’t good enough. Playing for draws just isn’t good enough. Nevertheless, the general level of performance is at least a lot better. We still need to work on ball retention and meaningful shots on goal though. We must also be a team who are the least effective at corner kicks. We could take them all day long and hardly lay a glove. Frustrated!

It's a double edged sword , as you say too many draws keeps us near the bottom but as long as we keeping getting points and not losing we pull clubs who may hit a bad run into the mix. The more clubs in the mix the bigger chance we have of escaping. Look at Hibs they've been utter shite and are now only 4 points ahead of us . Dundee are supposed to be having a great season and they are only 4 points ahead of us. If we keep putting points on the board when we do get a win it can move us up quite quickly as well as pulling others into the grubber.

Wasn't trying to suggest that it had anything to do with him being booed I wasn't at the game today but apparently some folk booed him and some clapped him. Personally I don't boo ex players but I agree. He's nothing to do with us now so from now on all I care about is that he helps Killie beat our opponents. Nothing else.

Fair enough , I just never bother about ex players especially if they are trying to help a team beat us, once they are in that arena they are fair game. Once they are ex players I don't give two fucks about them.

Got to laugh at the media guys remarking how fickle fans are, as if he'd have booted a last minute penalty into the East Stand for old times' sake.

Exactly , football is tribal and that's half the appeal, I seriously wonder if some of these pundits / media guys have actually supported a team like real fans.

As someone else said earlier we won't face Killie many more times again this season if at all.

I don't know why that would alter folk booing him today. He was out to damage us today, so he was fair game. Tom Boyd captained us in the Cup win but I'd boo that bastard every minute of every day .. I'd boo the cunt if I saw him going to the ice cream van 😁😁

Also special mention to Polworth for showing more energy confronting Spittal than he did in 2 years for us......d**k.

Mixed reception for KVV.  I certainly didn't boo but did chuckle at petulance and yellow card

KVV is now an opponent out to harm us on the park, fuck him, he's history and he's fair game petulant big dick.

    • Thanks 1
  8. We were piss poor for 30 mins, we settled and should have won it. Thought it was a could leading up to Millie's goal but will wait for TV evidence . We should have beat Hibs, St J and now Kilmarnock. Very frustrating but the fact team are not dominating us and we keep chipping away with points could be crucial.  We could see Hibs dragged into the fight. They are pish and now only 4 points ahead of us. Three points against RC could be huge. Thought Theo had a great game and Mr reliable McGinn had another good solid performance.

Not sure how others feel, but there's an air of reassurance with SK.

He doesn't seem to flap in interviews etc and generally seems to be able to handle the situation.

Obv not good going 17 without a win, but are we not something like 1 loss in 10 as well?

Although its a bit of a shitshow, I'm nowhere near as concerned as I was last season.

I like SK, I do think he is bursting his hump to make us better. Rarely are his post match comments wide of the mark. His transfer dealings up to this window were nowt to get excited about. However many in our support are utterly delusional about what players we should go for or indeed would want to come to us.

I hope his signings turn it around for him this time, even just to shut the cunts up who have it signed sealed and delivered that every signing is shite by looking at their Wikipedia history.

Our fans reaction over the transfer window has been way over the top without knowing fuck all about any of them. St Mirren, Livingstone, St Johnstone and Ross County have all done next to fuck all in the window and we were starting to amass more points than them in the recent form guide.

So unlike many of our support I'm not in the depths as despair yet , I wait and see before rushing to judgement.

As a club we are in trouble imo, on and off the park. Financially we are flagging and without knowing all the ins and outs I struggle to see how we can sustain our position as a top flight, full time club when we are told that we can’t even match half of what the likes of Killie and St.Mirren can offer signing targets. What is our plan going forward? Do we simply live hand to mouth, day to day and hope that there are worst sides than us in the league to help us avoid the drop? Because that’s what it looks like.

Our management and recruitment are are falling way short of where they should be. We looked poorly coached every week and I cannot for the life of me understand why we’ve added two more full backs on the last day of the window when it was clear that up front was where we needed to strengthen.

Who has told us we can't match Killie and St Mirren?  we need to differentiate between can't and won't and it's a question that can be asked of the Society. There's a world of difference between the two positions.

The back of a fag packet mathematics need to stop.

I take your point the figures at best are conjecture but the fact remains the Well Society are sitting with £650,000 in the bank and the club have stated they have money in the bank. These are statements of fact. So to say we are skint isn't true. We, I'm sure , will not be awash with cash but we are not penniless.

Whatever KVV is costing to say we couldn't afford it for 25 weeks until seasons end I think is untrue, unless of course what we have been told about the Well Society and the club having money in the bank is pish. To my mind we made a judgement call and for my mind rightly said we wouldn't pay it.

However we will see once the next lot of club accounts are published.

Correct. Folk need to realise we`re skint. We had to get players out, before we could even make an approach for anyone. If they then don`t want to accept what wages we can afford, then it`s not the managers fault. It`s the Motherwell world we now live in folks. Depressing that Killie and St Mirren can out manouvre us finacially, but that`s the reality.

Being Devils advocate , to say we couldnt afford his wages is patently untrue. The Well society are sitting on £650,000 that the club could have drawn down on. They shouldn't have needed to as the club have said they have money in the Bank. KVV would have been secured for around £150,000 but we chose not to go there. Folk can agree or disagree whether we should or shouldn't have.

If the club had to pay £150,000 fine tomorrow or be closed down could they get £150,000 ? Of course they could. So I don't buy the "we couldn't afford it" line.

The only real saving grace is that livingston,st johnstone and ross county don't seem to have strengthened to any great degree but at the same time it doesn't take away from our own dealings.for 3 forwards to have left and only 1 brought in simply isn't on,were 1 injury away from a complete disaster and with our luck it won't be long until it happens.the raft of full back signings is strange,I get replacing montgomery so we can keep gent further forward but will we go with a loanee or the kiwi boy over o'donnell on the other side,I'm not so sure we will.theres free agents out there so not all is lost,i seen the likes of flo kamberi mentioned over on p&b which is a decent shout, joe efford is now a free and the way we're business the now is more likely.

The club would never touch that bastard Efford. He can go take a running fuck to himself. He was a disgrace feigning injury to force the club into letting him go. If that bastard was the last striker on the planet I wouldn't touch him. An absolute disgrace of a pro.

  14. Definitely the worst pant wetting January window I've seen. I do consider some of it over the top. I will wait and see what the signings do before signing our demise. Certain facts still remain St J, Ross County and Livingston haven't exactly strengthened to any great degree and from the outside still basically look shite.

I know we've obviously tried to sign another striker, but the club has let strikers go before replacements were in the door. This is very poor. We needed options up front for these next two crucial home games. To think of all the special players we have had up front in the past to be going into the remaining games with a project player, an untried player and a player who is always injured is shocking. Scunnered to say the least.

I'll wait and see the players we have got perform before I decide if I'm scunnered

We can't afford his wages, if the figures quoted are anywhere near accurate. I have no problem with that.

He promised Groningen 30 goals this season. There are no guarantees.

I actually don't agree we couldn't afford his wage. On £7 grand a week it would cost £150,000 until season end. I don't have any doubt we could find that type of money but should we with the inherent risks .. no , not for me.

  17. 1 minute ago, grizzlyg said:

I doubt he will feature on sat.... they have plenty strikers. If he does I certainly won't be booing him, but won't be cheering him also.   I will focus on oor lads

If they have plenty strikers why are they spending seven grand a week on KVV, they obviously don't think too highly of what they have. I think he will come on as a sub.

That's Van Veen to Kilnockie official.

They are welcome to him at that crazy price, the club were quite right not to try and match it. He hasn't kicked a ball since November but you just know he will score against us on Saturday.

Firstly I’d say this discussion should be moved to its own thread as it has merit (maybe the mods can sort that) but heres my tuppence worth.

I might be wrong but as the average gate attendance’s includes  the away fans, is it not possible that their crowds are larger because they allow the arse cheeks more than one stand?
Also, what is the comparison between how many we take to their grounds to what they bring to Fir Park?

They don't they stopped that this season. OF only get one stand in Paisley.

The P and L which is a loss of 1 million pounds includes this cost. Funded by a balance sheet item of a loan. You and I can go into politic speak about describing the same thing in two different ways. I do understand what you are saying.

What I will say is the cost up front is probably set off against losses that would be incurred by paying to maintain the fully grass pitch over time. ie a P and L hit now for the greater good, as you say funded by the government but in time repayable.

What is more concerning is that wages matched turnover because "we done well" as per Jim McMahons comments.

Some finance model that. As I say again that's why we are pinching the pennies.

Yes the loss of one million quid will include the cost of financing the loan. The spend of £1 million quid on the pitch did not cause a £1 million pound loss. At most the cost of financing that £1 million pound pitch was £50,000 per annum on the 20 year interest free loan -apologies had to correct my previous figure. The cost up front of £1 million for the pitch came from the £3.5 million quid loan that was sitting in the clubs accounts. Folk can dress it up any way they like but the cost of the renovations are insignificant in terms of the operating loss.
