Pretty much as I saw it and despite all the Davor hero worshippers I still think he and Halliday dont command the middle of the park as much as I'd like. It was therefore no surprise St Mirren had 63% of the possession. St Mirren can consider themselves hard done by however I'm fed up watching us turn them over in terms of play only to lose so yesterday was our turn.
-
correct, we were fortunate but frankly we were due a turn of luck against St Mirren , they have mugged us a few times over the last two seasons.
-
a team can if they make more effective use of their possession than the opposition . Second half I thought we were poor but St Mirren have mugged us often enough in the past that it was our turn. The real difference this year is a solid defence and a keeper who commands his box. Possession means fuck all if you do nothing with it and St Mirren just relied on the high ball all day from the possession they had, they wasted theirs we didn't.

Sean Rooney suspended by St Mirren following an incident in town. Cant say I'm unhappy he is not playing always puts in a shift.

SK is a creature of habit. I suspect he will start with the team that started against DU with exception of SOD

Motherwell v Rangers League Cup Semi final Nov 2/3

I never understand all the bitterness around tickets. Each team gets 50% split. They are given a deadline date in which to sell them. Any one side that doesnt sell theirs the balance is given to the other side. No risk to us because any we didnt sell would be snapped up by Rangers. Would be different if we were facing a team that doesnt have demand above allocation -
Motherwell v Rangers League Cup Semi final Nov 2/3

I have some vague recollection if we'd won that game and the next game we'd have had enough points to be promoted, it was a truly dreadful game peering through the streetlights Dumbarton had for floodlights at the time. I think the English game was Everton playing inn Europe -

Too often over the years when we have managed to get bigger crowd in we fail to deliver and the occasional supporters are lost again because their night was a depressing failure. Last year at Morton 3 guys beside us - in a big away support - hadnt been to see Motherwell in 5 years and at the end they said they wouldnt be back soon but that kinda game last night changes that mindset. If we have any hope of increasing the support by modest numbers we need that kind of result more often. Not an easy ask. -

What will probably go unnoticed was big Moses footwork leading up to the penalty. For a big guy its was some niffty stuff. -

We were very passive tonight and a bit pedestrian and times , however I defy anyone to say we weren't worth our win. Quite simply we were the better of two ordinary teams tonight. Unusually the crowd turned up and we got the result. Fabulous turn out and when all said n done it doesn't matter a fuck how you play in the cup , its getting through that matters. Disappointed in the fans who booed Moult. Even after all his team mates had disappeared of the park he applauded the Motherwell fans. Not going to go into who was good bad or indifferent I don't give a flying fuck. We had a big crowd and they rewarded them with a win. These night come along so rarely lets not over analyse it. -

Oh I'm well aware of the per capita approach. Based on the population of the town / city in which a club operates only Ross County in the Premier league have a bigger per capita support than us. However that's a paper exercise. Motherwell sit in the central belt where 70% of the population of Scotland resides (I know its heavily favoured by the OF) I just think from what we've done as a club over the years its not unreasonable to expect better by even as little as 500/1000 a week. However the WS society think they can get us there, lets see. -

I've done this one to death, time to think of the game. No one will change my mind that normal home support of 3500 / 4000 isn't piss poor. Obviously many of you don't agree, which is fine ...its all about opinions.. It is what it is. Lets think more about the game now and fingers crossed the team turn up and get those who have come out excited.. -

There is also the point if we have attracted back some who've fallen away and it turns into a rip roaring enjoyable night they will maybe enjoy it enough to come back . Too often when the crowds turn up the team don't and it kills us trying to get fans back. I so hope the team are up for it and don't let us down. -

For me its what the club needs to do, they need to talk it up to get more bums on seats. Why shouldn't we make a song and dance about it to try and generate excitement and interest. We see enough pedestrian non event shite week in week out lets enjoy it for what they've done and hopefully generate a good atmosphere. -

What odds on Moult scoring the winner ?? LOL . We need to be far more aggressive right from the off than we were against Aberdeen. This is a very evenly balanced contest. Too close to call for me. Thankfully no VAR, think it might go to extra time. -

Whose wetting their pants? all I said was if we got 3500/4000 it would be a piss poor turn out and I don't retract on that. Thankfully the efforts of many to improve on the norm has paid off. Others are of course free to disagree with my views whether 3500/4000 home support would have been a good attendance. -

Afraid we will just need to agree to differ. Home crowds of 3500/4000 for a team that's been in the top division for 45 years, competing in Europe over 35 times and been to 4 cup finals in the last 25 years is piss poor. The fact that it is our historical average still , for me, doesn't stop it being piss poor. I'm not suggesting we should be getting 7/8000 home supports but I don't think it unreasonable to expect our crowds to rise beyond what seems like a static top figure of 4500. A home crowd of anything north of 5/5500 is pretty decent compared to our historical averages and should be our target average to grow the support. I'm pleased the efforts of all those folk out delivering leaflets appears on the face of it to have paid dividends for tonight , it would have been a slap in the face to them if it hadn't. Well done to each and every one of them. -

I take the point and a reasonable solution if possible however the only likelihood of that happening would be OF games, no other clubs would would need to use home stands and in that case you suspend the QR code entry for OF games. -

Your just confirming my point no matter how well we do the home fans range between 3500 and 4500 and that was the same 30 years ago, which I think is poor for a top flight club. If we want to progress we would need to improve on that and I don think its possible based on the way our fans turnout which I think is sad. -

I'm basing it on our crowds never move. If the game wasnt on TV we'd still get 4/4500 , for the life of me I think the last time we had 5000 plus Motherwell fans in the crowd was the Rangers play off. St Mirren and Kilmarnock seem to see healthy up turns in their crowds when things are going well we still get 3500/4500 no mater how well we do. -

My mistake , I didn't notice you said "total sales sitting above 6000k" , thats really poor considering Utd are bringing close to 2000. I really despair for our future when we cant get fans out for a Quarter Final at home. -

Ill certainly agree the lack pay at the gate doesn't help however as mentioned other teams in the top league operate in the same way and don't have the almost stagnant attendances we get. -
