Because like the Manager I take one target at a time Target 1. Avoid relegation .. tick Target 2. Top 6 ......... to be determined Target 3. 4th place and European football ....to be determined Target 4. 2nd place and Champions League football ... to be determined Target 5. Win the League .... to be determined Target 6 Win the Scottish Cup... to be determined

I might be wrong but if Dundee Utd and Aberdeen lose next Saturday and we beat St Mirren I think top 6 is secured.

and the best team , we are better than the other three, no one will convince me otherwise.

Aberdeen v Motherwell 18/02/2026 Cup 🏆
FirParkCornerExile replied to steelman1991's topic in Club Chat
I think a defeat on the cards for no other reason that teams rarely win double headers in 4 days. Can we win ? most certainly, will we? I just have a terrible feeling about this one. -
Aberdeen were not as bad as some of their fans are saying. Still anyones game on Wednesday.
-
Correct , I think fans are letting frustration of missed chances cloud the fact that we did play well or we wouldn't have missed so many chances.
-
To be fair at least the Dons fans are saying he is talking shite and that we should have won by 3 or 4.
-
Game should have been out of sight at half time 5-0 wouldn't have flattered us. Game could have ended 7-3. Aberdeen were better in the 2nd half but we still merited the win despite what some Dons fans seem to think. A bit more shaky at the back than we've been but still covered every blade of mud ☺️ to get the result. If Rangers see the Hearts game out and both Motherwell and Celtic win their games in hand 7 points will separate 4 teams. I will start to get seriously worried ...😁 We still have Hearts twice probs home and away Rangers once probs away Celtic twice probs away and home. 😮😮

Aberdeen fans seem to think this is a holding appointment as their new manager won't arrive until the summer.
-
It is kinda the Motherwell way 🤔 The Cups tend to torture us over the years.

These are the latest figures including Wednesday. 24/25 shown for comparison. I have to be honest I never thought I'd ever see the day where the home attendance ran between 6 and 7000 nearly every home game. Frankly Fir Park generates a good atmosphere with >7000. A good comparison is the two home games against Kilmarnock, in the first game they brought 1200 fans and the second game they brought 500 fans that's a 1000 increase in home fans for one fixture. I know we all probably have some folk who moan about everything somewhere near us in the stands but it's great that the overwhelming majority of fans have totally bought into it. It's rare to hear any negative shouts to boot it long. It's a real pleasure going to Fir Park these days. My only worry is we only have this kind play for one season.

The standards poor but McLean is pretty far down my hate list. Clancy , Beaton and Walsh boil my piss.

School boy error , corrected now 😉👍

49 years I've followed Motherwell home and away and this is without doubt the best Motherwell team I've ever seen. We may win nothing but my god to have reached 11/02/2026 and Only lost 3 games Only one team outwith the OF has beat us (luckily) Conceded less than a goal a game Played the OF 3 times at Motherwell and never lost Consistently accuracy of passing over 82% No one has dominated us we have had more possession in every game even the cup semi final. No one has deserved to beat us this season. It is actually a travesty that we are unlikely to win a trophy when utter shite like St Mirren have. However you don't need to be good to win a cup as Aberdeen and St Mirren prove. We should just saviour this season as we are unlikely to see it's likes again. What a performance tonight , team deserve every plaudit going. This is officially MY best ever footballing Motherwell team since my first game, a 5-1 win against Ayr Utd, in September 1977. Just my opinion I'm sure others have their own recollections. **Also credit to the ground staff you can clearly see the pitch starting to recover.

Manager says we are well covered which I suspect means we have development players ready for time in the squad. Frankly better to bring them in and test them than waste any more money on Stama.
-
We didn't play the style we do now last season and he was poor then too, so I struggle to see what style we'd need to play to get a performance out of him. Good move for all. Wish him well he won't be back.

Aberdeen v Motherwell 07/02/2026 cup
FirParkCornerExile replied to SteelmaninOZ's topic in Club Chat
Two of my Favourite Stevie Woods efforts Playing at Home to Killie in a relegation battle . Their keeper boots it long, Phillibin (I think ) sees it going long leaves it for the Keeper Woods comes out the ball bounces between them goes over Stevie's head into the net. Another in our relegation struggles in the dying minutes, he goes to boot the ball long and belts it off Billy Dodds arse and the ball ends up in the net ... And the Rangers one is stuff of legend. -
Aberdeen v Motherwell 07/02/2026 cup
FirParkCornerExile replied to SteelmaninOZ's topic in Club Chat
Not for me , for the simple reason we tumbled to Gardiner after 3 seasons and 78 games. Calamity Woods was with us for 9 years and double the amount of games and most certainly double the amount of fuck ups. -
Aberdeen v Motherwell 07/02/2026 cup
FirParkCornerExile replied to SteelmaninOZ's topic in Club Chat
In the first half Dundee played very similar to the way we do playing out from the back and they nulified Celtic. For some strange reason with 20 mins to go their keeper kept booting it long and not once did it result in Dundee having possession so Celtic just kept coming at them wave after wave. -

It wouldn't surprise me. You don't need to be good to win a cup as both Aberdeen and St Mirren have proved. -
Even had Killie and Livi both scored I'd still have fancied us to beat them because we have better players and play a better game.
-
Correct, I hear so much pish about that semi final, the Robbo Masterclass, St Mirren playing us off the park. Its bollocks. The only people who beat us at the semi final was ourselves. St Mirren played as they always do nothing special. As bad as we were we just didn't turn up but we still had more of the game than them and created as many chances and fluffed them.

Did anyone hear what the away crowd was yesterday?

Wondered why I was getting a sea breeze 🤣
