I agree a bit with GA, we had our chances to score a couple of goals but McGinley n SOD were crap, think Carrol deserves a return, surely can’t be any worse than McGinley and maybe Grimmy to RB?
But why oh why do we persist on short corners Goss to Slattery who then couldn’t hit a Motherwell barn door at 5 yards the whole game?
Ohara comes on and in 10 minutes has more quality balls to heads than Slattery n Goss had the whole fecking game, predicable fir United not needing to defend one decent corner with KVV standing waiting, and waiting..and waiting, we need a victory on Wednesday, without it we are in free fall, time for your fingers to be pulled out rear arseholes boys!

SOD, McGinley n Goss to the bench for Wednesday for me.

Grimmy should be right back, aye right back in the reserves, hes honking.  Goss is a shocker too. When Solholm is fit Id have him and OJala at centre of defence, put Mugabi to right back drop SOD,  Carroll to Left back and drop McGinley.  Drop Grimshaw replace with with O'Hara. Im rapidly coming to the view that Van Veem aint up to much either.

Somehow, even though we were terrible, their keeper had to make a few excellent saves to keep us out, and we had the disallowed goal as well, while Utd had two chances. Weird one, maybe this is how the teams we beat felt.

McGinley and Slattery were especially poor today, although they had plenty of competition. Turning a promising break for us into a goal for them just summed us up.

We need to ditch the front three, we have our best striker playing out wide, displaced by a once again piss poor Van Veen. Woolery shows flashes then hides, which is frustrating as he's shown he can go past his man when he's not competing with grimshaw in the backpass Olympics. He inexplicably seems to be one of the first names on the team sheet, I don't get it.

We're going to be up and down like this, so not worrying, just like I wasn't looking out the passport after a couple of decent wins.

Now I'm taking my covid booster generated 103 fever back to bed and going to pretend the game didn't happen.

We were terrible as were Dundee Utd. Teams dont need to be good to beat us , just patient cos we will invariably give the opposition free hits.

Hearts were decent in the first half and knocked it about fairly well but i didn't come away from that game being overly impressed by them,it was our poor decision making in the first half that handed them victory,if woolery had scored that game could easily have turned.i think hearts and hibs will battle it out for third but nothing more than that, even a poor celtic team will finish clear of either.

Bang On Hearts were gifted a game and were nothing special.

If Hearts can stay focussed and injury free we may just have been beaten by the main title challengers to Rangers this season.

What a team that created one / two chances from open play against Motherwell?? I think not. Hearts were nothing special

Kelly made 1 real save from open play.

exactly all this pish that Hearts were far better today has me baffled. Other than two gift goals there was nothing between the teams. They were the better in the 1st half we were the better in the second. Sure Hearts are easier on the eye but that's it.

If you give away cheap goals and don’t take your chances then that’s what happens. Hearts as a side are a level well above us and that’s why they took the points today. They have forward players like Boyce who is clinical at this level and a top quality goalkeeper in Gordon playing behind a better centre half pairing than we can put out.

We’ve got a long way to go before we can start taking points against the ‘better’ sides regularly.

Unfortunately for us we’re now into an international break then we’ve got Celtic next so it’ll be a good few weeks before we can realistically hope to get back on track.

don't agree , technically they have better players but with an ounce of composure today we could have got something out of that game. Hearts created next to fuck all from open play. We gifted them two goals and we shouldn't fear Celtic they are rank defensively

A good win from a close fought game. Not our best peformance so far.

a good win and the points are always good but what we are watching is far from good football. Results will always be more important than performance its the nature of the beast. Although the purists will always try and tell you otherwise

hmm maybe want to bring that to the attention of the manager and coaches at Fir Park then eh...!! I trust their judgment over your ridiculous comments

LOL aye fair enough I never said he was pish merely  its ridiculous for fans to make sweeping statements about him and it is. The managers and coaching staff at Motherwell have signed John Hendry, Eliphas Shivute , Shaun McSkimming, Bob Malcom , holding the roles does not confer wisdom.

No your point is quite clear and ridiculous you think he's a smashing player based on what you've seen on the internet compared to what we have when you will probably like the rest of us know the square root of bugger all of the standard in which he was competing.

I have seen them on the TV just the same as I have seen Sondre play on TV...

Fair enough if who youve seen Messi and Ronaldo play against are a good comparison for who you've seen Sondre play against who am to question that kinda analysis...   great player he is on a par with Messi and Ronaldo  :) :)

    Johannsen confirmed 3 year deal

I see the usual "great signing " comments on twitter. Seriously how do guys come out with that bollocks we will only know if he's a great signing once he plays.

People saying would  have been a meltdown if Livi scored at end after bringing on all the defenders . Trust me would have been a bigger meltdown if brought on KVV and Lawless and they scored . Would have got why did we not just shut up shop and see game out . Well we did the latter and we won so it’s a thumbs up from me as the amount of times fans  on here were screaming at losing last minute goals saying why not just shut up shop,  it’s now laughable that when we do that and win they still moan . Great 3 points abs let’s hope we get the same next week COYW

well time will tell how often over a season that tactic pays off for us. I'm delighted we won but to shut up shop against a mediocre team like Livingston especially when we actually had them on the back foot I find utterly baffling , Against the bigger and better teams I could maybe understand but going into that ultra defensive formation at the very point in the game when we had started to dominate for me is poor. The result was always going to be more important than the performance no matter how it panned out.

Interesting that, despite a RB and 2 midfielders missing out through injury or illness, Crawford didn't feature   at all.

Crawford doesnt have what it takes, he will play very little part in what Motherwell do or do not become during the period of his  remaining contract.

Great result, but there is a lot to be concerned about by the level of performance. Let's hope that we can get a few quality signings in before the window closes or it'll be another long hard season devoid of entertainment.

We are a hard team to watch and to automatically switch to outright defence when we actually had them in bother was criminal, Livi  are hardly worth that approach.  Criminal tactics but its GA stock in trade and why Salford punted him. He got away with it today. Had Livi scored in the last minute there would have been a social media melt down.

    You are very right here.

I don't blame him for the goal. I still think he's not very good.

I'm not a fan of SOD.  I don't think he was to blame. He could rightfully have expected Woolery to get some kind of touch on the ball to deflect  its trajectory he didn't. Before SOD could react the ball was in the net.

Crewe Alexandra have signed forward Chris Long from Scottish Premiership club Motherwell on a free transfer.

He has agreed a two-year deal and is Crewe's first signing since finishing 12th in League One in 2020-21.

The 26-year-old scored six goals in 35 appearances for Motherwell last season, having joined them from Blackpool in the summer of 2019.

"As soon as I heard of the interest I felt this was the right move for me," Long told the Crewe website.

Long began his career as a trainee with Everton and has also played for Burnley and Fleetwood, as well as having loan spells with four other teams.

Hope something straightens his sour puss.
