  1. Very much a tale of two players and two different personalities at this point. Hastie who had a bit of history of not putting in the work, overweight, less than wise tweets while on a lads holiday, and already looking like he will be loaned out with question marks already raised at this point, Rangers trying to hoover up Scottish talent to avoid him going to a competitor with no real plan for his development. Celtic trying to do the same with what looks like a far wiser individual in Turnbull who has noted what’s already happening with Hastie and is looking at the bigger picture and how he would like his career to develop. The next move for Turnbull is huge, the same way it was for Hastie who I feel made the wrong decision, big money yes but I think he’s also put his whole football career at risk. I just don’t think Turnbull is going to make that mistake and if he does join Celtic it will only be when he’s happy that the plans they have for him are to his benefit. I would love him to stay for another season with us but that’s for purely selfish reasons. He’s playing with others that are not at his technical level and never will be, that goes for the league as a whole, so how does he develop further ? He needs to be playing with players that are better than him, that will improve his game, coaches that are used to working with the best players in the world. He’s definitely looking for a move down south now which with the right club and everything they can offer development wise makes sense. He’s probably gone as far as he can in the Scottish game which is a level below his ability.
  2. Never going to happen. He will never put on another Motherwell shirt, too far down the line now.
  3. Surely it’s agree a fee that’s acceptable to the club first, then it’s up to the players agent to do his work. No player has to accept anything but there is no point doing it the other way round. This does not mean he won’t join Celtic, more he’s probably looking to maximise his options, he could still sign for them anyway.
  4. And that’s the risk, people talk of holding on for a bidding war, let’s see if it happens.
  5. Is he officially away ?
  6. If there are clubs willing to put in better offers where are they, two days and no further news on any other concrete offers. That suggests no one else is interested in raising the bar.
  7. I’m not sure how being rediculous gives any validity to any point ?
  8. If any player, from any club benefits Motherwell it’s all good. Could not care less if it benefits Celtic down the line, that’s going to happen regardless of who the player joins and Celtic will always be miles ahead of us anyway, different level of club. You don’t see premiership clubs down south saying we won’t take that Man Utd player because it might benefit them in two years time. We should be thinking about what’s best for Motherwell not Celtic. If we go down the line of blooding our own youngsters instead no problem, (if they are ready) but let’s not just cut off our nose to spite our face because it’s a certain club. If a player from any club makes us stronger, provides better entertainment, and we gain financially by finishing higher we win. We refuse on principle and the player joins St Johnstone or Killy instead, we lose out to a genuine rival. Or maybe we only except loan players from Accies, they won’t be as good but we’ve done the right thing on principle.
  9. Let’s wait and see what squad we end up with. It’s pointless predicting relegation or reduced crowds at this point. Season ticket sales are up under Robinson.
  10. If Turnbull goes i’ve no doubt at least some of the money is going to go to a couple of players we would not have been able to afford otherwise. Again i’m seeing one or two posters who seem to feel the sale of Turnbull means we will automatically struggle, I have a feeling we may also lose Cadden so another player to replace but I would assume also further funds to replace him with.Yes the squad is light but when we say “why sell Turnbull so early in the window “it also means it’s still early to find replacements, the time to judge is when the squad is complete.
  11. Honestly I think he will shine at any club, he’s got real quality regardless of where he plays. Celtic will sell him to a club down south for 10 million plus within two years in my view.
  12. Out of interest when is the last time the old firm paid 3 million for a Scottish player from the Scottish Premiership ?
  13. Why are we still talking about a first bid, it’s simply not true. On top of that there is still nothing to stop a bidding war. Turnbull is in talks, he has not signed. Bournemouth and any other club can put a bid in this morning if they really want him. A player is only worth what people are willing to pay, if any club wants to outbid Celtic now is their opportunity.
  14. I’m happy to wait until it’s all sorted and then make a judgement, everything else at this point is a level of guesswork.
  15. If in doubt insult other Motherwell fans, great.
  16. The fact no one has mentioned it does not mean it’s not there. How can anyone actually be critical at this point when they don’t actually know the facts anyway ? Surely any criticism should come when something has happened ? Or is that just crazy talk ?
  17. I think it’s simply a clause that’s been triggered.
  18. I think that’s jumping the gun at this point, he’s not actually signed for anyone at this point.
  19. Look I get that folks are upset because it’s Celtic but to be fair the club stated it would need to be a record fee so I see no reason to think it’s not. I would be amazed if the new contract did not have a release clause in it so again if it’s triggered so be it. it was pretty obvious a while ago he would never play in a Motherwell shirt again, way too much interest so positive side the debt is completely paid off and we are in a healthy state.
  20. I thought they had already turned down other offers ? 1.2 to 2 million mentioned. If it’s 3 million plus add ons it’s what many on here though was fair.
  21. Amen, I find it incredible anyone would advocate spending above our means in order to chase a top six place, surely memories are not that short.
  22. See how long it takes for the “we’re doomed” line to start again.
