  1. I’m expecting a tough game, it’s never easy against them and they are always well organised. As above teams are now starting to work out how to nullify our two wingers which is a problem because they have been very influential in the upturn in form and without an out and out goal scorer we can’t really adapt at the moment because we don’t have a huge amount of other viable options. An unchanged team if everyone is fit and 1-1.
  2. No problem. I’m also enjoying the debate, some good posters on here.
  3. I’m quietly optimistic about Maguire having watched him a couple of times this season. He still has a fair way to go but looks to have the basics needed to progress given time.
  4. A little early to tell I think, rather like Gorrin regardling injuries and game time, just about getting a run in the team and see how he beds in.
  5. Hey it’s all about opinions, I value all of them. All I stated was i’m not qualified to give an opinion on offering a new contract to a players I would have known nothing about. I don’t think that’s an outrageous stance to take.
  6. Now that would be very interesting
  7. I think he has a long way to go and at this point is pretty predictable. I think even at this point most of us can see how he can be nullified and he’s going to have to learn how to adapt. He’s certainly talented but i’m worried if he does move to Rangers it could kill his career.
  8. Honestly I don’t think i’m qualified to answer the question of an improved contract last summer simply because i’m not part of the coaching staff at Motherwell. That’s the job of those that work with the player on a day to day basis that know the individual far better than I do. It’s easy for anyone on social media to think they know better, happens all the time but as we know a lot of things stated online tend to be, let’s say less than accurate. I leave certain decisions in football to those that are actually qualified to make them, i’m not one of them.
  9. The comparison between Hastie and giving contracts to senior players has been used quite a bit but really the two are completely separate. Clubs will always make mistakes when giving out contracts and that’s not going to change regardless of what they do at youth level. Anyway hopefully he still signs regardless and we move on but regardless if the club feel they have made a mistake they will hopefully learn from it, no one gets everything right including me and you.
  10. Personally I still thought Johnson showed promise
  11. Regardling being loaned out the club have done this with a number of players in the past and continue to do it. They have always said that playing in the first team at any club is more valuable to a players development due to a more competitive environment. All of these loans are put in place to give players a “ potential” chance of playing in the first team, not a guarantee and history shows many players go out on loan but still fail to make it in the first team at Premiership level. I don’t believe there is anything here that is about trust in the youth players or the clubs planning. The nature of young players is some develop further and some don’t regardless of what a club does, all a club can do is have a system in place and hope that with support a percentage make that step up.
  12. I’m still not convinced by this arguement that he should have been offered a good, long term contract at a time when he was nowhere near the first team. You mention his level of talent yet he was far from blowing everyone out of the water at both Airdrie and Alloa. He did “ok” and showed promise but more promise than Dom Thomas did at the same stage ? I would argue no. Even Craigen admitted he was surprised at his development so for me it’s not as cut and dried as is being made out. I’m certain he would have signed a new contract if offered one a year ago but then so would just about every young player. You don’t however offer contracts because you’re sure they will be signed, you offer them if you feel it’s the right decision and the club clearly felt he had not shown enough “ at that point” to justify it. The fact he has developed so quickly and let’s be honest we’re all surprised at how quickly it’s been does not make the original decision to wait necessarily wrong.
  13. Personally i’m still not convinced Scott is close to being a starter next season, still a way to go for me.
  14. Lack of a goalscorer is the reason we won’t make top 6 this season and that’s obviously the main priority this summer. I suspect Main will head back down south, Johnson could probably knock a good few in if he was willing to drop down to championship level up here but again I suspect he will head back down south to a league two club.
  15. Yep, think that’s top six probably gone now sadly, sounds like we are having very much an off day today.
  16. I went with Aldred who has hardly put a foot wrong all season and would be a terrific signing for next season should he chose to stay. Young player not really a contest, Turnbull.
  17. I can’t say i’ve been a huge fan of Grimshaw and a few months ago would have advocated letting him go, just too inconsistent. However since getting a run of games he’s a different prospect. The position seems to suit him and that in itself is a surprise but it’s working so I don’t see why we need to change it just because. He’s the right age and should carry on improving so it’s all good for me.
  18. Yes we definitely do, it’s worth a good deal of money both finishing higher and the far bigger attendances. Season tickets easier to push and on top of that we are more attractive to potential new recruits who would rather join a club who look to be improving over one that’s struggling. Top six would make for a very acceptable season.
  19. If it’s from within the club and given it’s dragged on I think it’s probably got more than a grain of truth in it
  20. The Sun state he is off to Rangers, that’s surely as good as gospel given the quality of the publication in question.
  21. Jeez, and you accused me of speculation.
  22. I would agree there were no weak spots today and Gorrin was indeed excellent in midfield. Ariyibi was a joy to watch first half, if he was a natural finisher he would be nowhere near us and starting in the championship down south. Aldred again as solid as a rock, Hastie scored but became less effective as the game went on and I can understand why he was taken off. I though Main put in a hell of a shift and was pivotal at certain points of the game, just wish he scored more goals. But for me Turnbull, just class with rediculous composure for a player so young. I remember many years ago York had a rightback a bit like Turnbull and they used to say he looked like he was playing in “ carpet slippers” that’s Turnbull, silky smooth and making it look so easy.
  23. Have to be honest sitting in theCooper stand I did not hear any negativity towards Hastie yesterday, quite the opposite. But then i’m not getting any younger and my hearing is probably going.
  24. Two pieces of news for me today. My mother who still lives down in Yorkshire had a really bad seizure and Hastie might leave. Which do you think really matters the most to me in the bigger scheme of things ?
