On the subject of offering extensions or new contracts to existing players here’s my thoughts There’s a lot worse players than many of them and yes they have shortcomings but whoever we sign will be the same. Kettlewell knows them and I’m sure one of the reasons why he’s ok with giving them new deals is that throughout the season these guys stuck by him, didn’t down tools and managed to scrape through. Personally I believe that if the team hadn’t stuck together and believed in the manager then we would have been relegated. Next season’s going to be rough if our targets keep choosing our rivals over us leaving us with no one if we let these guys go. So in short the manager knows that - even if they’re only squad players - these guys will have confidence in him, help integrate the new signings without being pissed off if they’re not first pick, back him up if needed, bring some calmness and help keep the dressing room together if things get tough. If I was a manager I’d be looking for that from them.

Agree he’s not one I’d be looking at but disagree that midfield doesn’t need added to. With Spittal away we need to replace him. Halliday, I think could do us a turn but we need to strengthen around him with players who can cover his shortcomings.

One way of doing this - although I’d be shocked if it happened - would be as part of the agreement the WS gets a small % of any transfer money up to a certain value (say £1.5m which would take a long time granted) that is then invested long term and ring fenced in such a way that it is there to ensure the clubs future. Never going to happen though.

Loaned out to Dundee Utd from Ross County last season but only made 27 appearances.

On the “investment/return” discussion I read something which was along the lines of a lot of well off Americans are purchasing/investing in foreign businesses including sports due to when Trump was in power he changed their tax laws to allow money invested abroad to be deductible and simply put this means that if someone pays out $1m then it’s $1m less they pay in tax so it’s basically free money for them to gamble/play with and they get something to add too their portfolio. Now - being cynical here as I don’t believe he is but - for someone like Barmack being seen to be helping out a wee fan owned Scottish team could, if things go well, potentially get him and his company more publicity and kudos than spending the cash in advertising ever could.

Definitely weeyin, we all wish we could find players like him every season and build on keeping them longer but it’s good to watch him - and others - progress after leaving us.

Big Cedric’s a unit and a class act, we can only dream of him ever returning.

9th place guaranteed, let’s keep this going and get 7th

Regarding Halliday I’ve mixed feelings. I agree that his pace ain’t great but he does have good awareness, takes up good positions and is constantly talking and pointing things to other players trying to encourage them on and showing them options they might not have seen. Maybe not a stick on starter every week but if we’re set up for others to cover his lack of pace then I think he could be a worthwhile addition to help others manage the game on the park.

Seriously ya nutter! Bevis in goals is the obvious choice, tall, will command the box, only needs to take by kicks so no dribbling and legally allowed to handle the ball. Move Kelly to midfield to show off more of his nifty foot work prowess. Job done! Who the feck needs coaching badges? Any clown can do this job.

You do know the games at Fir Park? Wonder if MJC will agree

I’ll stick with my view as it’s not reckless either both players were entitled to go for the ball and no I wouldn’t have been screaming for a red card but I’d have been screaming at Vale if he’d pulled out of the challenge and I’m confident our appeal will be upheld.
-
That’s a very short clip of the incident which doesn’t give a true account of it and is from a view the the referee couldn’t see. Watch the full incident and most folk will have a more balanced view of it. Vale’s straight leg and studs showing is due to him clearing the ball not attacking the Aberdeen player who runs into Vale and could have seriously injured him - look at the way Vale spins when they collide. As I’ve said before, no intent, no malice no red card. It’s a collision nothing more.
-
Part one of my prediction done, ref and VAR slated on sportscene. Also liked SK and pundits slagging them off saying anyone who’s played football knows that’s never a red card - wasn’t even a foul so no free kick, no corner, no goal. I hope the club send a letter of protest in against both the referee and VAR guy.
-
Name the defender who he hasn’t played who would have made a difference. At different points of the season every defender has been played in different permutations and we’ve lost stupid goals from open play/corners/set pieces so I’d say it’s more down to the defender’s themselves - unless you guys think they’re not getting coached on defending in which case you should be abusing the defensive coaches.
-
My point earlier was that it looked like they were desperate to give Aberdeen something - fully expect the red card decision to be slated on sportscene tonight and possibly the red being reduced on appeal. Not that any of that counts for anything.
-
Shite decision, no malice or intent.
-
Can only hope for an improvement in the second half.
-
Seems like every time they get the ball in our box VAR checks for a penalty even when no one claims.
-
If Aberdeen come out attacking and leave space at the back it could be a high scoring game but if both teams sit in and try to hit on the break it could be a turgid affair.

Would you have been a different age if you had went to a different school?

Refusing to watch that display of OF bias by a referee - it’s probably used today as a referee training video.

Trouble is when someone quotes them you see it or if someone replies to that person and others chip in you end up reading stuff and not understanding the context. Best to just scroll past their posts

The bogeyman says it’s from a Nigerian prince, all we have to do is give him all our bank details and he will transfer the money - think he’s worked with Accies before.

Rangers were asking around £20M for Morelos but the closest -rumoured- offer was around £10M which they and their fans thought derogatory, I wonder how many now think they should have taken the deal. On another note a bogeyman I know says Aberdeen have a deal to sell Miovski for £4M and Burrows has done a deal with McMahon to buy Bair for a fiver.
