  1. September is going to be a tough month but October will be worse. Need to try and get as many points as possible in the next 3 games.
  2. Mulgrew and Watt back in the team, looks like there was a falling out with JR.
  3. I think they were possibly on the bench along with Clark because the three of them have fallen out with Ross. Let’s see if they play on Wednesday.
  4. Again I agree with that but this year we had the chance of the extra money to try it without putting the club at risk.
  5. Agree that we’re not paying that but that’s my argument, if we did then the quality would be better which should(?) mean better results, better league finish and cup runs, which in turn would increase revenue. Add to that - hopefully- at least one of those players should be a sellable asset and I believe that it would become self paying. I understand that others would have their noses put out of place but by off loading others a slight increase in their wages could be achievable, they would also benefit from win, cup run and finishing bonuses. They would also have possibly been playing European football for longer.
  6. I hate to go on about it but the club/board/manager screwed it up by not investing the initial €300K + the potential €400K for getting by Sligo on three better quality players on £4K a week over the summer. We also had a better than budgeted finish last year which meant extra cash so it doesn’t make sense to me at all. This would have gave us a shot at €1M if we got past Vikings and potentially a decent season & cup run. Although, in general I’m a supporter of the board, on this occasion I’ve got to say I’m deeply disappointed.
  7. Think it’s more a case of £200,000 they don’t need to find for the academy which could save the society from having to help out so the society’s balance manages to get stronger which should help in the long run.
  8. Shocking! - that’s a classic joke
  9. If the guy eats junk food like that it shows lack of commitment to his fitness- he should be nowhere near fir park, so for that reason it’s a no from me. pity, no a bad player as well
  10. I’m somewhere between ElGrew and GazzyB, I think that we have a decent enough team to avoid relegation but we still have a weak defence that will need strengthened and better cover from midfield if we are to achieve anything above 7th or 8th place. If we get those areas sorted and have a bit of luck then I think we could push for a European spot and even have a good cup run. Looking forward to the season but expect a lot of ups and downs along the way so buckle up folks and ffs, when we get a bad result sit down for a couple of hours, let your anger clear before posting a rant.
  11. From memory I’m sure we have a good sell on clause with Leeds so it’s a definite win, win as we get too see him in a Motherwell top, help further advance his career and potentially get cash if and when Leeds sell him.
  12. Not got the slightest interest in seeing TW in a Motherwell top again. Never was his greatest fan to start with, always said he had a great knack of either flicking the ball just past the post or directly at the keeper and hit a purple patch with us but I do agree that he gave his all, tracked back, was good at winning a foul and taking the pressure off.
  13. Can’t see many on here shedding a tear hearing that.
  14. I think, similar to last season, teams will go on a run of good and bad games which will result in 6 teams chasing 5th & 6th spot leading up to the split. Basically the arse cheeks and Hearts will be there, another team will pull away and get a top 6 spot - hopefully us- two teams will be trying to avoid relegation- hopefully not us - and the rest fighting/ grinding out games.
  15. A great result and a great team display. Thought before the game that Aberdeen had improved this season and would win - very happy to be wrong. I think that the way Aberdeen play suits us as they don’t pack the defence which gives us the room to play. Couple that with the new apparent freedom that the players have to be more creative and their refusal to capitulate when they went behind, gives me a lot of hope for the season. I’d add a caveat that there will be more teams that are going to try and pack the defence than ones that will play an attacking game against us so we need to workout how to get a goal to force them out in those games or we could end up watching plenty of shitfests.
  16. Possibly both are talking about players who they feel are young and haven’t developed fully yet that need more experienced players to help them rather than saying that some players aren’t good enough.
  17. On the football front, I think that Aberdeen have been a team we have fared well against because they always play an attacking game against us that allows our strikers to have room, especially KVV, unlike many other teams who sit in and wait for us to fuck up. This time unfortunately I think that Aberdeen have improved enough to get a result - hopefully I’m wrong.
  18. That’s a shell of a bad joke - awe ffs, it’s contagious !
  19. No matter who we employ- especially if we were to go with Hammell - I think the fans will have to be very patient while things get sorted. Defence is shot to hell confidence wise but I believe that can be fixed between the end of this window and the January one. Midfield likewise but I think there are players there who can work if they are played correctly to their strengths and get the backing of the crowd. Forward line is more difficult, KVV has talent but without space is limited so I see him better played against teams who don’t pack the defence or when we’re ahead and they have to come out. Shields put in some decent crosses and I feel he would prefer to have ball put in front of him to chase rather than snatch at crosses as he’s not quite sharp enough yet and hasn’t had any luck in front of the goals - strikers go through these phases and I hope he gets a lucky break soon. Efford is a strange one, will give his all but again it never seems to come off for him - reminds me a bit of Curtis Main. Looking like a long hard season
  20. I also asked for KVV stats which you ignored so I went to the site you quoted from and from what I can see, offensively he had 1 shot, 2 dribbles, dispossessed twice, 1 bad control and no key passes, no crosses or through balls and 1 long ball. Not really any better than Morris or Shields but that fact doesn’t fit your POV. As for other teams strikers I had a look at Hibs Who dominated against StJohnstone and Chris Cadden played 77minutes, offensively only has twice dispossessed and three bad control, 1 cross and 3 long balls. On the St J side, Jamie Murphy 61 minutes played 1 shot, dispossessed once, bad control once and one cross.
  21. We appear to have a proven working academy which produces a couple of players a year. There is a clear pathway to the first team but unfortunately, as we all know, the cream of the crop leaves before we even see them and all we can hope for is that they generate future income but at the moment it seems like it’s the Well society that’s paying for the academy. The other youngsters who make it through to the first team are the hard working young players who will become professional players at or around our level, decent players who sometimes make mistakes but on the whole put in a shift and hopefully don’t get to much abuse. There very unlikely to be stars who go on to greater things but if we’re lucky they might just exceed everyone’s expectations. As said these guys need more experienced guys around them and this is where the club has to target it’s small resources alongside taking a punt on one or two guys who can generate a return. Bottom line is that free flowing exciting football plays second fiddle to the reality of trying to stay in the premiership.
  22. Stats are great things that can be used to make any case/statement. What was KVV stats and how do our guys compare with similar guys in the rest of the league?
