If all our major players are fit I'd go with this line-up: Ruddy Moutaouakil Craigan Hutchinson Reynolds Hateley Forbes Coke Murphy O'Brien Sutton I'd leave guys like Slane, Jutkievicz and Humphey (if available) until the second half when their fresh legs could be crucial. In terms of a prediction I feel a draw is a good bet, although to get anything from the game we'll have to play very well.

A win is a win, and even though it was the Man U reserves you could tell they were very technically gifted and well organised, so our 1-0 win does carry some merit. The pissing rain might have put a few people off, hence the crowd of just under 3500, but it was a worthwhile exercise for the lads. Bearing in mind we were without Craigan, Murphy, Humphrey, Saunders, Slane and McHugh its an even better result. Bring on the Gers on Saturday!!

Welcome aboard big Yass. He does sound like a prospect and here's hoping we have the opportunity to buy or at least extend the loan if he does well.

Totally agree. Although not everything John Boyle has done has been well received, most of his dealings have been good for Motherwell FC. So far Jim Gannon has done very well on all fronts, but its still early days and I'm sure the man himself would guard against building things up too much. Thus far its all encouraging though.

Teams in bold to win, and the Mighty Well to make the semis at least!!

I called the ticket office today and was told you'd be able to pay at the gate on Sunday. Apparently just under 1000 tickets have been sold so far, so the option to pay in should see a better crowd, especially now Man U themselves have announced it. Supposedly there will be more than just reserves up too, but don't know any more than that. However anyone going along to the game may well see a few United legends strutting their stuff on Fir Park.

It just goes to prove that some things are more important than fitba. Good luck Chris, hope everything works out well.

Fair point, but considering we did a lot of defending over the 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet you'd expect it to be one of the back four who'd be our MOTM. Going by what I heard it seemed Crags was solid and won everything in the air. Sure more will vote for him, but if not you can null my vote!!!
-
I know I only followed it on the radio, but Crags sounded like a rock at the back for us, so he gets my vote.

Delighted with the clean sheet, although it sounded a little hairy at times in the second half. I honestly think we'd have been more of a threat with Slane and Humphrey available from the bench, without them we had no real impact players to bring on. Mind you, it was a good defensive effort and a good point which keeps the run going. We can't expect the young 'uns to sparkle every week so it was encouraging to be able to grind out a point.

For me it only becomes a diddy cup when we go out! Until then it is very important.

I have one or two misgivings about this game for the same reasons, but hopefully I'm very wrong! I wonder if who our right side combo will be, as we have to stop Mulgrew and Aluko getting forward but also exploit Aluko's tendancy not to track back. I'd go with O'Brien and Saunders with Slane starting on the left wing. In terms of the result I reckon it will be a 1-1 draw, but praying we can grab a late winner!

Personally I'd rather a loan at the start of the season was for the full season, but there you go. So far Jimbo has done very little if anything wrong so I'm prepared to back him on this. I always tend to ignore comments from other teams fans about a new signing and give him the benefit of the doubt based on what he does for US. Welcome aboard Lukas, here's to a few goals!
-
Not a huge fans of six month loans at the start of the season to be honest. In our case we might lose two mainstays of the team in January and have to make two more signings, whereas a year long loan makes sense to me. Anyway, hope he does well. Now for a right back!
-
Delighted with the result and how we performed to achieve it. Some of the fitba we played was excellent and the work rate and enthusiasm was a joy to behold. Killie will seriously need to re-think their tactics cos their fans will be in for a long season watching that. However we were excellent and here's hoping we can add to the squad to keep us competitive throughout the season.

Really good performances all round yesterday, Coke and Forbes bossed midfield and Crags and Hutchinson did fairly well against Kyle and Sammon, but for me Jim O'Brien was sensational yesterday and would've deserved his goal at the start of the second half. He is a man reborn and if he can keep this kind of form up will be a huge asset.

....or slightly later perhaps!
-
He was at United for 6 months last year and didn't look that good. if it is him then I hope to be proved wrong though!!
-
Mind that one mate! Went up in the car with yourself, your good lady and Graeme. It was Oweny who got our 3rd goal and TC missed a nalty at 3-0 down! Quite a game right enough!

McClair vs Shellic in January 1983, which carried the following commentary from Jock Brown: "...ooooh Bonner's almost misjudged it, there's McClair.....and that's the winner for Motherwell! The man on the spot, Brian McClair...." A magic moment!

From my point of view Killie are due a humping from us to make up for all the last minute sickeners we've had to endure! However I will be surprised if its anything other than a close game on Saturday. They will have the confidence from a handsome win and a clean sheet, not to mention a striker bang in form. We can point to a decent comeback with a young side plus some great goals so far, so it is a tough one to call. Much the same team for me, probably with Slane on the bench as O'Brien doesn't deserve to be left out. 2-1 for us in the end but another nail-biter.
-
For me a good mix of generally entertaining fitba with the odd scrappy and dull game will be fine, it can't be great every week as we all know by now!
-
To be fair, I though McDonald reffed pretty well yesterday...... ...need to lie down now, feeling a bit unwell!!
-
It will do Craigan no harm to be taken off at half time. He is experienced enough to appreciate what Jimbo was trying to do, and it will show everyone that a place in the team is not guaranteed to anyone.

That is the only part of the Sky/ESPN deal that annoyes me, no highlights. The lower leagues in England have their own preview and review show every week, what about the SPL?
