Maybe watch the Scottish news on BBC and STV tonight, also worth checking out Sky Sports News. As for the game, after a shaky start when they began confidently we totally over-ran them, They seemd to lose heart after our second goal and in honesty it could've been any score. The young lads will gain confidence from last night, although I hope Gannon gives them all stick for conceding the goal. It might sound churlish but standards have to be maintained whatever the score, and I'm sure the gaffer wouldn't have been pleased with that. However as an attacking force we were superb, and I can't ever recall being 6-0 up at half time before! Steaua Bucharest will be a different story though, but whatever happens this is our best ever European run!

Obviously lots of candidates after an 8-1 win, but my vote went to Ross Forbes who ran the show in midfield, plus of course his two goals.
-
I think we have to trust Gannon's judgement here. He got it right when he lambasted the team after losing to Llanelli, and now he's maybe given some a kick up the arse to show that they're not a first pick. Plus of course Jay's right. It is a squad game and Flamurtari weren't the greatest side in the world, but he's shown that he's going to pick the best side to win a particular game, rather than stick with the predictable.

I got a copy of the 1952 cup final programme a few years back. It was a bit frayed but in not too bad condition and I paid £45. a bargain for something of that significance.

If we can get near the 4000 mark that will be good for holiday time, just need to make plenty of noise when we get there!
-
I wish Shug all the very best, he is without doubt a very skillful player although he rarely dominated midfield as much as we hoped. His goals return was disappointing too, but I don't think we can complain too much about his overall contribution.

These truly are exciting times, especially looking back to the first couple of weeks in June when MMG did precisely fuck all before leaving us!
-
If Gannon is on about bringing another 8 new faces then I suspect that at least 2 will leave. Dazzler will almost cerainly be one, and maybe Fitzy too. McGarry might be kept on as he's getting a run now, albeit in the absence of any alternatives!

I think the element of surprise is a great point, and one which I think will see us top six and very competitive in the cups. There is nothing between ourselves and the likes of Hibs, Aberdeen and United so as far as I'm concerned we can not just get in the top six, but potentially be close to another Europa League spot.

Any two goal win will be fantastic, and if we make a good start and control our nerves then I think we will do it. The threat of an away goal will never be far from our minds, so we can help by being positive throughout and being very vocal. I'll say 2-0 with Sutty on target.

Let's hope he turns out to be the real thing...... I never thought I'd be saying 'Welcome to Motherwell GILES!!!' but there ye go! Good luck to him.
-
All the goals in the match were scored within the first 20 minutes too, if I remember right.
-
Delighted for him, hope he can win the Robins fans over and do well down there.

It is mentioned in the Sunday Mail about that. I suppose we'll have to see an actual quote from someone within the club on that. It would be good to have that other option, although I suspect he'd only be a sub anyway.

In a word, no! Seen on Sky Sports News last night that Wigan now have a home game on the 8th against some Spanish mob. If we get through against Flamurtari the 2nd leg of the 3rd qualifying round would be home on August 6th, so here's hoping that could be at Fir Park, and less than 48 hours ahead of the scheduled first game on the new pitch so it should be ready. We have our tickets for next week, let's try to beat the 4300-odd we got against Llanelli in the last round, it could make all the difference.

Not sure I'm happy with the draw being done today. If we get an exciting potential draw then folk will get all excited about it before we've actually got there, and if we don't then the disappointment will be greater. Still looking forward to seeing who we potentially could face though!!
-
Seems strange to me how some have voted NO to an open question like 'CAN we do it?'!! The answer is obviously yes to that one! If the question was 'WILL we do it' then I could understand the negative responses! My feeling is that we WILL progress, but it might be a long night in Airdrie!

For me the whole game hinged on the nalty re-take. If we had gone 1-0 up from the original kick we'd probably have won. As it was they got a huge lift from that shocking decision and naturally scored the winner shortly after. My only concern is them scoring next week, meaning we'd need three. We have to play this sensibly but we can do it, as long as we don't go gung-ho and get caught on the break. Still quite confident though.

Hope he's removed the tank top before travelling!!!!

It does seems strange that the club weren't on the ball with this one. However, we must push on with what we have. No idea how good/bad/indifferent they are but the heat, humidity and local crowd will make it tough for us. If we could come back with a draw I'd be delighted.

Welcome to Motherwell Chris, all the best! Here's to some more additions in the next week or so, preferably a keeper, defender, midfielder and striker, maybe a right back too.

Sorry Guys....unhappy Topic But Need Some Help!

I have it on very good authority that the culprits will be banned from the association buses, probably from Fir Park and potentially receive banning orders too. Meetings were held at the ground today and action WILL be taken. It appears that the victim has decided NOT to press charges against his attackers, which speaks volumes for him. Happily the club will be treating him in some way, probably with hospitality at a game and have already visited him, with legend Doooogie in tow. The thugs spent the night in the cells and although not facing criminal proceedings WILL face football sanctions. The bus convenors have spoken to the club and information has been passed on. Justice WILL be done, and be seen to be done. -
Lots of good performances for me, but my vote went to Las, who controlled the midfield and ensured plenty of ball for our attacking players whilst protecting the back four.
-
It wasn't a big tactical adjustment last night, more a shift in attitude. There was more hunger. desire and urgency about the Motherwell team last night, with greater determination to get the ball and go forward. Defensively we were not too bad, and coped reasonably with Llanelli's ariel assualt. However it was all about us going forward, and the passing was crisper and sharper all over the field, meaning we were attacking with more pace and purpose. That said I still think we need a couple more bodies to ensure we progress against Flamurtari, but the young 'uns can hold their heads high so far.

The whole thing is a disgrace and shows that some folk just shouldn't drink all day. The attitude of the main perpetrators was definitely influenced by the bevvy, although there is no excuse for viciously assaulting a pensioner, especially one of your own. If there is evidence then bans should be given out. I hope the old fella isn't put off going to away game, and maybe the club should do something for him. I know the whole incident put a dampner on the trip for many fans, so here's hoping justice is done.
