  1. I don't know if it would attract more fans overall, but it would be a lot more competitive and entertaining. You just need to look at the teams that fight for 3rd and 4th. That changes most seasons so would be logical to think there would some good title battles.
  2. The Backtaehauntus Stand.
  3. If he's still injured in July then it's 100% we'll sign him.
  4. I don't know why everyone thinks this is such a big mystery. Here he is in his last game at Crewe, just before he signed for us.
  5. Aye, they seem to have stepped up their coverage in recent months. Initially it was only OF games that were ever on from Scotland, but it's much broader now.
  6. We should change things up a bit and have an evening with the 2005 CIS Cup Final team where they pay us £5 and the Q&A consists mostly of "what the hell were you doing?"
  7. We can dream, but like a bad smell, they are going to hang around polluting our league for many years to come. For people of a certain age (like myself) it is amusing watching teams trying to resurrect what is, in effect, just a new version of the Texaco Cup. A competition which, ironically, ran out of steam when English clubs lost interest in playing in it.
  8. While it's entertaining extrapolating one January signing to represent every future piece of business a manager is likely to do (and easy to use to support any views you might have, good or bad) it's not exactly a huge sample to form an opinion. If you'd told the fans in Janaury that we'd be guaranteed league safety in April and in the Cup quarter finals, I think most of us would have taken it. Once he's reassembled a team for next season we'll have a better idea of where we're headed.
  9. I've reached the stage now where I'm just delighted to have been there the last time we won it, and still be alive.
  10. I enjoyed O'Donnell kicking all the Accies players for most of the first half.
  11. The Bruce Cleland / Willie Irvine dream team.
  12. Here was my prediction back in Feb. So far, so good.
  13. Team has looked up for it right from kick-off. Hope we get a second goal early in second half to kill it off. (Of course, we won't get it until the 93rd minute).
  14. Usually only water it on the end they're attacking. Tonight it just looked flooded all over.
  15. I was just about to say that we should be good for a point given how we struggle against teams that park the bus...
  16. is it just my video, or have Accies tried to waterlog that pitch?
  17. I think a point makes it mathematically impossible for us to finish in the automatic relegation spot (regardless of how massively improbable that would be). So that should be our minimum target.
  18. I grew up and in Hamilton and I know lots of Accies fans (maybe even all of them...). Reminds me of the old joke about the fan standing at Douglas Park when the bloke next to him says "Are you staying still the final whistle?" "Aye - I'll be here for the full 90" "Great" he says, handing him some keys, "do you mind locking up?"
  19. If anybody in the US wants to pay to watch, I see our game is now listed on ESPN+ on Saturday. It's $5.99/month - cancel whenever you like. The Scottish games just re-stream whatever is being shown in Scotland, commentators and all. I signed up for the service when it was $4.99/month a couple of years ago. They currently cover English lower leagues, Scottish Premiership and whatever Scottish Championship games BBC Scotland shows live - as well as all the Euro qualifiers. Not to mention all the English FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Betfred Cup, German, Dutch, Italian, Australian and Mexican games too. (Plus tons of American sport too, obviously).
  20. You know it's not the club that actually does the streaming, right?
  21. Campbell's a strange one. He obviously lacks pace - and some EPL and Championship managers prefer pace over all other attributes. On the other hand, it's rare I've watched him and thought "he needed to be quicker there". So he's obviously figured out how to work around that.
  22. Foyle doesn't actually recruit anyone of course, and I remember Robinson on a few occasions saying how he was sent videos by agents on an almost daily basis. So while he obviously has some say in checking players out, who we ultimately sign is down to the transfer policy/budget set by the board and the manager deciding which players he fancies. If we continue with the philosophy of signing players "with something to prove" the risks are high, the rewards are guys like Marvin Johnson and Cedric Kipré.
