and most of the wee keepers add a few cm to their wiki page.
-
never used those (but I never bet on the horses) We were also taught: 16oz in 1lb 14 lbs in a stone 8 stone in a hundredweight 20 hundredweight in a ton (and that's me done)

Exactly! 3ft 3 inches in a metre 2.2lbs in a kg 1.6 km in a mile They drilled us well.
-
People my age grew up with both systems, so know there are 2.54cm to an inch. 179 / 2.54 = 70.47 inches. 12 inches to a foot, so 70.46 inches = 5 ft 10.47 inches.

AP's not a hold-up man, he's an inside the box finisher. If we want to get the most from him, he needs to be facing the goal with the ball in front of him.

Some encouraging signs from the new players, and can see some new tactical ideas taking shape - but work to be done. I thought Connelly handled the sweeper-keeper role better than Ward, albeit with little pressure being applied. The less said about the defence the better.
-
A Fad-hum-dinger. Take your pick...
-
Conceding the early goal has given them something to hang on to. They are sitting deeper and deeper now, but we need some penetration.
-
It's all about the "load balancing" with JBA.
-
Agreed. I can see some positives with some of our play mid to front, even if it's not quite coming off. I see nothing at the back.
-
As long as we score 4 or 5 goals per game, the defence is nothing to worry about.
-
Efficient with our shooting efforts now.
-
Been saying for the past 2 or 3 seasons. Needed a complete clear out.
-
It was terrible, both in marking and the attempt at a tackle.
-
I used to watch Hugh Sproat defend at the half-way line, so keepers that stand outside their box don't worry me much.
-
No need to worry. The defence give up the goal, so business as usual.
-
Macron's sizing is for actual professional footballers - I've always needed one size larger in their gear. I haven't seen any changes in recent years, but don't have any of this season's kit. I imagine the folk working in the shop can confirm.

That's even more likely these days.

Very true, but I don't blame his dad for that. It seems like the same interview cut up into pieces and reprinted multiple times in different places.
-
Aye, JBA did a fine job swatting down the journos in his presser. His dad has been a key influence in managing Miller's career and helping him make good choices (like staying at Fir Park and getting 75 first team appearances under his belt). I wish some of our other youngsters had similar guidance, and I'm OK with him talking to the media.
-
And that was the quote where the DR claims "Miller didn't close the door totally on a switch to the Glasgow giants." I've read it 3 times, but still don't see it,
-
I blame Greggs.

Couldn't afford him now. A year too late for Ipswich. A little more defensive nous might have kept them up last season. Good signing for them, though.

It's the managers that are telling them to do it. One of the current trends in modern football, along with passing out from the back, inverted full backs, and wingbacks instead of wingers. You might not like it, and will be more likely to notice it when mistakes happen, but I guarantee all the modern coaches have Gigabytes of match data showing that less goals are conceded that way, and more attacks are created that way. A few years ago, I saw the guy in charge of data at Liverpool discuss his analysis. He had taken all the available stats from all the available matches to create a map of the pitch. They had calculated the percentage chance of a goal being scored from the starting position of the man with the ball on every square foot of the pitch. They used that during training to focus on getting the ball to highest percentage starting positions as quickly as possible. That's the kind of analysis that goes into the game these days, even at smaller clubs like ours. And the kind of thing JBA means when he says that Danish teams play more modern football than Scottish teams. We can't ask for a more progressive approach to the game and then complain about what that means. Well, we can, but it will hold us back. Today's tactics are significantly different from when I started watching football in the 70's, which is mostly a good thing - although preferring full backs that can attack rather than defend still drives me nuts. Back to this game, I expect more of our new signings to start, and a higher tempo game on our grass.
