  1. It is definitely a minority sport, but I think that was one of the reasons they tried to revamp it a few years ago.
  2. Maybe not directly comparable, but apparently when the Irish switched to summer football there was zero increase in attendences. Of course, it will be more pleasant to some, but it didn't affect the financials. Personally, I'd prefer to keep it a winter game (with a shutdown), but to have terracing so you can walk about if it gets nippy. I never felt really cold when I was standing.
  3. You and me both. The past few years it has been embarrassing to see some players unable to settle even in England. With one or two exceptions, there are far too many that are just happy to make a comfortable living and unwilling to take the next step in their careers to improve themselves. Look what Paul Lambert achieved when he went to Germany. Not only did it raise his game technically, he came back with a Champions League Winner's Medal.
  4. As one of the overseas fans, I have been fortunate enough to see a preview. No Motherwell games as yet, but so far it looks pretty impressive.
  5. One game at a timeƩ>
  6. They have the players and the tactics to throw men forward against a defence that they know can give up cheap goals.
  7. I'm talking about any season. Like I said earlier in this thread, it feels like this mob could field their U-11 team and still beat us. For whatever reason, it doesn't matter how good our form is or how bad their form is, they always overpower us.
  8. If we are still in fornt (or even level) we can count on 7 or 8 minutes added on at the end too.
  9. I would imagine MFC will get a discount.
  10. Official site says it closes at 4:30pm on Thursdays and 3:30pm on Fridays.
  11. And, not to forget, a certain Mr. Driver who came out with this quote when he joined the England U-21 team last year:
  12. I'm fairly optimistic about most of our games, but always dread playing this mob. It feels like for the longest time, regardless of the form of the two sides, Rangers could field their U-11 team and we still couldn't beat them. If we nick a point, I'll be more than happy.
  13. Is it not the official press release that gets posted so that the other news agencies can print it?
  14. Levein will have him pegged to slot in behind the back eight.
  15. The council completely ignored the terms of the bequest in the name of profit. They allowed ground that was donated to the people to be used for a retail park. The leisure facilities are a red herring, because the bequest didn't allow for *any* commercial enterprise to be built on that land. The was the whole point.
  16. It's redistribution of income to benefit the league overall. Even the capitalists in the NFL are happy to give equal distribution of revenues to the participating teams.
  17. I still hate the idea of a split. Much rather go for 16, play each other twice, have a few weeks break in the winter and keep players fresher. I know this won't fly right now, as there would be financial implications, but I think that would be partly addressed with an increase in average attendances. I'd also scrap the minimum stadium requirements. That has taken a lot of money out of the game with little benefit. However, I can't see it being voted through. Although even managers like Wattie agree it may be a positive thing from a footballing perspective, the money men don't care about anything but the bottom line. And they are the ones who will ultimately decide.
  18. If I remember correctly, I think the "grounds donated for recreational use" argument was put to bed when the Palace Grounds Retail Park was approved.

    Stevie Kirk

That was Wullie Irvine Get well soon - hope he had good health insurance if he was in a Florida hospital, otherwise his wallet will be needing treatment too.
  20. I don't understand why people listen to him, far less worry about what he says. If he is getting people talking (and complaining) he must be better at his job than I gave him credit for. Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised if Hibs gave Brown some consideration - although I would be very surprised if he ended up there.
  21. And here was me thinking football was an ENTERTAINMENT based industry.
  22. I know he is the pantomime villain on here, but McGhee showed you could play good football and finish high up the league. I still don't understand why people think you have to give up winning by playing good football.
  23. Internet commentary loud and clear here.
  24. Being born pedantic does not make one a paedo.
