Hope a lot of scouts watching him as has looked very good tonight, I know it's only Liechtenstein but he has been very productive.  Let the bidding war begin

He was a class act tonight. Delighted he was able reproduce his quality and range of passing.

Must be worth at least another half mill after that.

Broon couldn't live with not being seen, he loves playing up to the crowd.

Professional football is supposed to be entertainment. Would be very boring if we didn't have some heroes and villains.

Davie Cooper, Michael Higdon, Faddy, Skippy - to name a few - all loved playing up to the crowd.

Then again I’m against all this analytics bullshit. It all feels like a bit of a cop out to me. I can hear it now ……’Ah but the data suggested he was the man for the job’. Pretty sure even Kettlewell would have come out well using that system. Did that route not steer Hearts to opt for Cathro, as well as Critchley who outscored McInnes at the time? Crazy and hardly a strong recommendation for its use.

To be fair, Kyrk Macmillan has said much the same - that the data is only part of it, and all the interpersonal qualities are equally important.

Like in any other field (VAR, for example), it's still down to people interpreting the output and making the right decisions.

  4. Clarke initially did the job that was needing done. He took an omnishambles of a national team and consolidated it into one that was difficult to beat and, most importantly, one that the players wanted to be involved with.

And I give him credit for that.

He did well to get us to the first Euros, but his tactics were an embarrassment in that tourney. The second Euros were even worse, because not only had he not learned anything, but he actually went backwards.

That was when he should have been moved on.

Friendlies and injuries aside, the national squad actually has some decent players available now. There were EPL, Champions League, Seria A, Coppa Italia and Austrian Bundesliga winners on the pitch last night that should have been able to play some football.

We are crying out for a manager with a bit more creativity and tactical nous, otherwise we are destined to be one of the few teams who fails to quailfy for the new 322 country World Cup finals.

It’s not obvious either way however I tend to think that if he really didn’t want it then he wouldn’t be doing it atall and would probably have left with Kettlewell.

I suspect that timing is the factor here. Frail has only had one game so far - against Celtic which inevitability ended in defeat so he can’t really be judged on that. If we win on Saturday and pick up something at Tannadice the following week then it’ll be easier for them to sell the appointment of Frail to the fans just like they did with Kettlewell and Hammell before him.

If you think back Hammell got the job on a ‘temporary’ basis, we beat St.Mirren and he was given the job on a permanent basis a few days later.

Same with Kettlewell, placed on interim charge, won two games against St.Mirren and Hearts and officially appointed within days.

I don’t see things being any different this time around and Stephen Frail is three, maybe four points away from a permanent appointment imo.

I don't think you'll be any closer this time.

We are a fan owned club allegedly its maybe time that the WS got involved in a real topic of interest to the supporters and see what can be done re selling sponsor free replica kit.

At a time when we are looking for more ideas to generate income, intentionally removing a chunk of our revenue stream doesn't seem like good business.

I'd also be curious to know how many fans in the shirt buying population want a sponsorless option because I'd imagine that, kids being kids, most of them want a kit that looks exactly like the one the players are wearing' sponsor and all.

I'm not against it, but I'd need to see a breakdown of the financials before I was in favour of it.

One thing is for sure, and that's you won't make the up the gap in revenue by upping their price.

Thats a far superior kit in every way

I'd say it was also too fussy. Doesn't need all those extra fine pinstripes.

Designers these days can't help themselves these days. Just because technology makes it easy and possible to keep adding things, doesn't mean you should.

  8. Given that I'm about 40 years older than their target demographic for shirt sales, my thoughts are irrelevant. If it was a nod to 100 years ago, however, I would have kept it stripes only.

I know what you mean, but the hoop and/or band has only been used on about 50% of our kits in our history. Even when I started watching us around 1970, we only had one hoop season until 1984.

Our kit in the 1925-26 season looked like this:

I'd be OK if we did that as a tribute 100 years later.

I should have bought a lottery ticket the day I posted this.

Of course. And every few years, the big clubs are edging closer towards the European Breakaway League they desperately want as new structures of the competitions are adopted.

Is that based on anything other than pure speculation, that would be a great move for him.

It was a joke, but based on the fact that PSG have not only invested in some of the best teenagers in Europe. but had no problem playing them in the Champions League final.

If it's true that statistically Miller is in that top echelon of his age group across Europe, then teams like that should be interested.
