  1. The team picked today should be good enough to beat Thistle. It's up to the players to step up and put in a decent performance. and in the last 5 mins, if it's close, get the ball into the thistle half and Fkn keep it there.
  2. Playin on a decent park and we are shite at defending so I'd go with line up suggested earlier. For me I think Johnson is more suited to games where we are more likely to counter attack and I think Lionel is more likely to score than Johnson
  3. Suppose I better start buying extra powerball tickets so I can step in when Les takes his money back.
  4. Put faddy into McDonalds role behind the striker and bring on pearson? EDIT: so much for that suggestion
  5. I think we really need to just sneak an extra man on and play with 12 in order to get all that we need. Maybe we can have 2 players wear the same number?
  6. not sure but whatever it was he made a lightning fast decision. I've watched it a few times and still can't believe it.
  7. WHat's the deal with Faddy? I seen comments regarding trying to set him up with a goal in the cup, as his last game but then i see him listed on the bench at hearts. Is he signed for us or not?
  8. Sounds like we messed around with the line up too much. So half time, Chalmers off. Back line to normal 4, Cadden in Midfield. See if we can get a goal or 2 back. Just hope the heads don;t go down and we get totally hammerd. Be interesting to see the attitude in the second half. Get stuck in and play some football or heads down and give up. COYW lets make a game of it. Hopefully Hearts will be over confident and that may help us get back in the game. Over allthough, if it is a defeat as it looks like now, just a bump in the road, lesson leraned by McGhee, then lets go on another run.
  9. Nice to se us ahead of them in the league like it should be :-) So hopefully we give them a hammering to boost our goal difference but i'll take any kind of win to be honest.
  10. Although had he hammered it and the goalie saved it we would have said he should have chipped it. I think he made the right choice, as someone says, just not so good execution.
  11. How much work goes into educating/coaching the refs? Are they full time pro's or this is extra pocket money? You would think that the SPFL and the ref governing body would be working with the ref's week in week out to review their perfromances and learn form heir mistakes. From what I have seen on TV and on here it seems like the ref's are a bunch of part timers with no one mentoring them or helping them improve. It's also time to remove the cloak of secrecy/silence and establish a platform for communication so that the clubs and paying fans can get at least some idea why certain decisions have been made. The referees should be held accountable for their performances which does not seem to be the case at the moment. Everyone makes mistakes and no problem with a ref saying I got that one wrong, of course if they are saying that too often, then that would be a problem. Somehow i think thats what the refs are afraid of, all too often it would be ooops " got that one wrong". Surely, if the penalty called was reviewed with a mentor the questions would be, was it deliberate hand ball? Was his hand in an unatural poition? From the highlights i believe the answer to both is no. Having said that my gripe is not so much at this one incident as it is with the poor poor standard of refereeing. hrrruumph!!!!
  12. Just to add to add to the ineptness of the ref. Since he gave the penalty he should have booked McManus for deliberate handball
  13. I think he positioned there to destract the linesman so Rooney can run behind the defenders
  14. So are we hiding our heads in the sand by enjoying the 2 great threads on best game and best performance or just scared to think about the upcoming match? It's Thursday already and yet the match day topic is way down the board. I'll go for 2 - 1 to the 'Well based on nothing other than optimism and the hope that McGhee as sorted out a few things during the week. COYW
  15. At least McGhee is trying to be positive He commented on why he played laing in midfield "he can head it, he can pass it, he can run - he has all the makings of a decent midfield player" Definately more positive than saying "I have a bunch of guys here who Can't head it, pass it or run"
  16. Yep. To be honest pretty much what I expectedbut with a better score than I was anticipating....as you say, "we move on" Let's hope Aberdeen continue their slump, having lost their last 4 games, scoring 2 and conceding 11
  17. Looks like a reasonable result but more due to Celtic not taking chances and ref not awarding 2 stick on penalties rather than good defending by us.
  18. On the brighter side surely we can't get any worse or am I speaking to soon?
  19. Definately, we need to change it up a bit but the players need to do the basic stuff like passing a ball 5 yards. Ohh And Kennedy needs to get longer studs in.
  20. I like it here but really really really, yes really, miss going to the games.
  21. Has to be 91 cup final for me. Moved here in '89 but had to go back for that one. Close second to that would be Spurs at fir Park in the Texaco cup. 3-2 down form the first leg and they scored first then what a great comeback to win 3-1 on the night.
  22. The "vision" or whatever you want to call it of the owner is not a new one. It's been said for along time that we are a selling club. It's clear that bringing success does not translate into larger crowds or at least not large enough to make any difference. So i believe that the club cannot exist relying on money coming in from the fan base, be that Well society or gate money/TV money etc. The Well society can help out form time to time ( I think this was it's intention, right? ) but as for the fans becoming the owners it is still imperitive to be a selling club in order to bring in funds to sustain the life of the club. Perhaps what Les is doing is merely just a re focus on getting back to being a selling club. It maybe that in the last few years we have been focused on "success" forgetting somewhat that we need to actually produce/nurture talent good enough to sell. These are not mutually exclusive and I hope that we can achieve success and at the same time produce enough talent to sell on a regular basis to keep the bank balance healthy. Regarding the whole "davidgate" discussion, again, this has been going on for at least the past 50 years. On a regular basis individuals finally just give up the ghost and decide enough is enough and they just stop going to the games, whether thats Ian StJohn getting sold ( see! told you at least 50 years ) or Mark McGhee returning as manager. So everyone is entitled to make that choice without getting flak. However, I do think that wishing to see the demise of your football club is deserving of flak. .......Anyways, if the game is on the telly this week I'll be getting up at 5.45am to watch it live. COYW!!!
