  1. Wonder if Tom Hateley can play as a winger. I hope not!!!
  2. I am sure yesterday's story said we wouldn't be offering a new contract.
  3. The problem I see with a 4-2-3-1 is that we really don't have any players with the pace or naturally suit that formation. At present we have Faddy playing in from the right and Agnol on the left if we set up like that. Neither are natural wingers and so we're playing them out of position. Faddy would need to be in the centre of the 3, with the current players that doesn't really allow us to do that without putting square pegs in round holes. If you want Faddy to create something, he needs to be in the centre of the park where he can get space to do that. Out on a wing he's limited, all the oppo have to do is put 2 on him , get in close and get him frustrated. He then has to try to hard to do something with the ball and the threat is snuffed out. There may be games that he can play out there but for regular consistency it has to be the centre. Don't get me wrong that formation may work. My formation was based on the players we have at present and trying to fit them into roles that aren't a million miles way from their natural position.
  4. I was thinking about this yesterday, to play 4-4-2 we need to bring someone in to balance the midfield for a 4. If we're looking for a speedy winger, then it needs to be two wingers as we don't have one at the club. If he gets injured then there's no backup if it's only the one. McCall experimented with a back 3 during the friendlies and I think this was the formation that he'd banked on being able to play this season. It would explain the abundance of centre-halves at the club. To play that you'd be looking at a formation of GK: Either Hollis or Neilsen, think the latter maybe needs a wee run, see if it helps shore the defence a bit better. Not saying Hollis should be dropped by the way. 3 x CD: You have Ramsden, Hutch, McManus, Cummings to chose from. Right WB: Kerr or Ramsden. McCall has used Kerr as a right winger so may suit. Left WB: Angol or Hammell. Hammy may not have the legs for it but he has a vast experience to use. Angol needs to be allowed to run at the defence and not anchored to within yards of another 'Well player. That would then mean a midfield 3 of Lasley, Vigurs, Lawson or Carswell Faddy then either plays as an AMC behind a single striker. Or you pick a pairing from Sutton, Faddy, Arnier, McHugh, Moore With the squad at present this is the best formation I can see us playing. So that's a 3-5-1-1 or 3-5-2
  5. A 5.30 KO is not ideal for getting fans into the ground. The Ross County fans won't get up the road until after midnight, not much of a Saturday night if their driving.
  6. So the team will be: Hollis\Neilsen Ramsden Hutchy Mick Hammell Faddy, Lasley, Lawson, Vigurs, ZFA -------Sutton\Arnier\McHugh-------- So just the front man and keeper to decide.
  7. Gutted that I am missing tonight. Up to a fortnight ago I was going to be there but work decided to mess with the shifts. Here's to the boys doing us all proud tonight and I am hoping we can pull off a little shock and have a goal lead to take over. A clean sheet would be good as well. My team Neilsen Back 3 - Hutchy, Mick, Cummings Wing backs Ramsden and Hammy Centre 3 of Lawson, Lasley, Vigurs Faddy playing of Arnier\Sutton. Wanted to start ZFA but it'd mean sacrificing Hammell The only way to include both would be with ZFA playing a wide role and that could mean sacrificing Arniier\Suttonup front and having Faddy plough the lone role.
  8. Looks like he ain't a winger This from a fans forum.
  9. I would take Boyd quite happily as a replacement for Higgy ...................................... IF we still had still had the rest of last seasons team signed up. At least we'd have the creativity and craft to supply him and let him hang about the box. With this team at the minute we don't have that luxury and need every player to play their part.
  10. The squad has been split so that all the players get game time under their belt. Notice that Hammell, Lasley and Faddy are going to Cowdenbeath
  11. Have the club been beat agin or is it still speculation? Truth or Myth
  12. Wouldn't touch either of them. Why should we help another SPL Clubs youngsters progress with first team football? 1. We can't play them against the parent club 2. Bringing in either of these isn't going to help progress Moore and Erwin for us. Who if we wanted to can play them every game.
  13. Looking at various Blackpool forums and have seen no sign of that. However McCourt is on trial with them, so that maybe the option they chose.
  14. Had a wee chuckle at this. Welcome on board Iain.
  15. There was also a comment in the press a couple of weeks ago that Tom Hateley hadn't been offered a contract as well. Seems like there is misinformation out there, either from MFC or the agents. I know which one I am likely to believe.
  16. With English contracts running out tonight and the transfer window officially opening tomorrow, we'll hopefully see some incoming players announced shortly. I'd imagine the like of Gunnar Neilsen will be one.
  17. I knew I had read it somewhere. Kerr offered contract
  18. Can someone let Mr McCall know I am about to go for a 26 mile run, a 3 mile swim and I'll finish off doing a 100 metre sprint in under 5 seconds. I can also jump 10 feet from a standing jump. I can't cross a ball though.
  19. To tell you the truth under the new rules of the SPFL I am surprised that haven't lifted the transfer embargo. After all they've lifted everything else for them. They are now a full member can vote, despite not having filed a tax return in 3 years. Apparently the SPFL have changed their own rule that those outside the top division can play trialists. Even though originally it was to be a no no. Even the play-offs that Doncaster has proposed are a con. 4th place in the 1st Division will play 3rd over two legs. The winner will then play 2nd place over two legs. The Winner will then play 11th in the SPL over two legs. So one team could have a further 6 games to get promoted while 11th only plays 2 games to stay up. What's wrong with 11th vs 3rd and 2nd vs 4th with the winners meeting for a one off game?
  20. I would imagine that what has happened is Trevor Steven (agent) and Mark have had offers for Tom. However unless it contained the word Rangers in it, they have put them into File 13 for later consideration. Now that Rangers haven't been in touch, they've went back to File 13 and found that someone has emptied the bin.
  21. Personally I would've used the female version but agree.
  22. Can handle the no fitba' for the close season... the confed cup starts tomorrow It's how quiet it is about players, waiting to renew or sign that are doing my nut in. We got Lawson in that quick that I thought we'd be about done by now. Especially when you look at ICT confirm 8 signings so far. Not saying they'll be great signings but they've moved fairly quickly. We need to know what Higgy, Hateley are doing and Faddy needs to let us down gently as soon as possible.
