    Pay at the gate

In theory you're right, but maybe its to do with handling online queries over the phone or they want to know final numbers before close of play. Yes, it coud be to do with the Police. In any event, the paying customer comes last.
  2. Add to that, one is currently injured and yes, we are light.

    Pay at the gate

There is a reason for it; its just that we don't know what it is and haven't been told. Whether we agree with it is an entirely different matter. Edit: On second thoughts, I suspect that it's to do with opening hours of the office, which the club will not change.
  4. Good luck to Barry Maguire, but it was obvious even to me quite some time ago, that he wasn't going to make it with us. Apparently he didn't cut the mustard on loan with Dundee either.

Good points Grizzly. We are heading for a cashless society but we're not there just yet. Some older folk do struggle with modern technology and as we've seen over the past few months some websites are far from user friendly. We need all the support we can muster and older fans, many of whom have been to Fir Park for donkey's years shouldn't be sidelined impatiently.
  6. Only 2 games into the League season, but a promising start. Yesterday was a yardstick against a potential top 6 side and we came through it well. It also allowed us to measure ourselves against close rivals St Mirren in an indirect way. So far so good, but early doors. A promising start from Biereth; lets hope he continues in that seame vein. I watched the highlights and was impresssed with his physicality and ability. He fought off two pretty robust/illegal challenges in setting up a goal and scoring one. He can give as good as he gets.
  7. A classic comment, Tam. I like it. Your analysis is correct of course.
  8. Sorry Steelboy but there was a lot more wrong with Hammell's reign than that and I mean a lot more. A catastrophic appointment and I don't use those words lightly.
  9. Hibs have done well in Europe so far, but before we get too pessimistic about our chances we'd do well to remember that St Mirren beat them on their own patch. A very tough clash in prospect but winnable.
  10. Whatever you've been offered in India, we'll top it. No surprise
  11. Just watched the TV highlights from yesterday and have 3 takeaways. Bair took his goal very well indeed and first time - impressed. There's a player there somewhere. Its concerning just how easily Dundee seemed to be able to cut our midffield and defence apart. On a couple of highlighted occasions, including their goal, a Dundee player managed to thread through several defenders without any tackle whatsoever being made. Too easy blame Souare and central defenders - a bit more to it than that. Dundee's second hitting the woodwork effort - one of their players was about half a metre offside. Just glad it hit the woodwork as I wouldn't trust VAR.
  12. I wasn't at the game but a Dundee supporting friend was of the same opinion. He thought we were reasonably good and fully deserved our point but were vulnerable down the flanks and our centre midfield a bit soft or disorganised. A better team would have punished us. Early days and some changes and improvements to come no doubt but we'll see how good our point was in a few weeks time, when Dundee has met other teams.
  13. Pretty much my view. Certainly not the fixture you'd pick for an opener but a draw is decent enough. One of the worst piches we'll play on this season but that was the same for both sides. Given his recent comments, SK will not be happy at the goal we lost. Wing back positions do need to be strengthened. Good to see McGinley and Efford get some game time, but maybe the condions wouldn't have suited the latter. Finally well done Theo Bair/Blair/Bear - great to score on your debut especially away from home.
  14. In those conditions? Maybe if their pitch had been in better shape.
  15. I was greatly encouarged by SK's recent press interview. He stressed the importnace of getting the basics right; being solid, reliable, hard working and organised. Once we achieve that we start to "add layers" in his view. 100% agree with that. Any team that achieves that basic stanadard will stay up. The fancy stuff comes after that.
  16. Biereth looks to be a promiosing signing. Thats now 4 senior strikers we have on our books. That should provide competition and give SK breathing space to develop Bair.
  17. A basket case of a club. Will they ever learn?
  18. For an UNDISCLOSED fee. Surely we're the only club who has ever done this in the history of football.
  19. Not a great result, but given that we didn't concede, the problem wasn't our defence.
  20. Was he fit enough to last a full 90minutes?
  21. I find some of those figures hard to believe especially Hertz and Aberdeen. St Johnstone were also splashing the cash for a provincial club.
  22. A few of us suspected that it would be either Killie or St Mirren away and so it turned out. Its time we beat St Mirren in a cup tie again! As an aside, at Dens Park yesterday, there was 1 less substitution than in our game and the same number of second half goals; don't know about injuries though. 5 minutes added on. The SFA needs to clarify this unsatisfactory situation and introduce some consistency.
  23. This season, Ross County and St Mirren are paying fees. I don't know about Livi and Kilmarnock. Going back, I agree with you in principle. Money was wasted by Alexander and Hammell. The tem "Wage Bills" can be misleading. What that doesn't tell you is whether a large bloated squad is being paid low average wages or whether a small squad is on high average wages. I can easily believe that our wage bill was bigger than that of St Mirren's and Livi's, but than that of Kilmarnock? I'd also be keen to learn of St Johnstone's budget - I'm sure thats been higher than many realise and are now paying for it on the field. Yes, we do overegg it. You rarely hear other clubs complain about their playing budgets, although David Martindale does often say that his budget is the lowest in the league.
  24. All in all a good day. We won 3-0; won the group; gained an unexpected seeded spot; and gave younsters more game time. SK & SF can be satisified tonight. We controlled most of the game and never looked in danger except for a very brief spell just before we scored the opener. It might seem odd having scored 3 goals but I thought that we were a bit toothless up front and lacked penetration - not surprising though given our lack of strikers. Most of our moves were frustrating - with some really good leading up play but the final ball being an inch or two out or defenders making last ditch interventions. We're getting there though. Oxborough had very little to do although I'd liked to have seen more of how he deals with high balls - the tiniest of question marks there. Souare looked good and I was very impressed with Paton - possibly the best he's played. Got wired in, very mobile and showed energy. Good to see young Miller have a good game and score the opener although I thought he sclaffed it. A fine passer of the ball. Slattery is getting back to his old self. Davos Z looked promising and put himself about well. Definitely looks promising but we'll see how he fares against bigger, nastier and better opponents. Thought the ref had a poor game - with inconsistent calls on fouls and he seemed to take an instant dislike to Bevis in his duels with our old acquaintance Nathan Austin. The lack of added on time was absurd. I would have expected 5 or 6 minutes given the injuries and subs. What if we'd been chasing one more goal in an effort to secure a seeded spot? Hopefully Wilkinson's injury isn't serious.
  25. If Obika doesn't make it today we're going to be gey short up front. Ferrie and Wilkinson in that event?
